Mr Dave Many nice features, would work well to organize small-to-medium projects. I especially like the "bucket" and ability to add tags. Don't like the lack of a search feature (best: highlight all rows that match or contain a row that matches, ok: find next match). Max of 3 links per row should work well. Would like to see more options for tags, such as indented tag groups or at least multiple lists, to make tags more manageable (could easily need dozens for medium projects). Very odd that each line of text has its own set of links and tags, instead of each line belonging to a group of text -- would like to see a way to wrap text and have many lines that are not separate objects. Also would like to expand everything in a given branch without expanding the entire outline. Overall, a very impressive, focused, easy-to-use program. Thanks for making a free demo available on the VisualOutliner web site!

Adrian User Thank for your valuable comments and suggestions Mr Dave. Search is coming with the next release (mid-January). Just emphasizing that you'll get free upgrades to all 2019 releases.
Search will work like the Tag filter, it will only display the rows that have matches. However, I like your suggestions: highlight all matching rows, or find next match. We might be able to include these two search display modes too.
The other feature requests:
-More tag lists
-Text wrap
-Branch expand
have been added to the wish list for the February release. Please feel free to send us more comments/feature requests.

bvssunnydale Almost all the screen shots show the exact same outline repeatedly - just in different colors. They provide almost no idea of where the utility might lie in this program (and this is too expensive for an impulse purchase). Next time, please provide better examples of how this might be useful. Thanks.

R Master I really wanted to like this program. I do complex documents and publications in the hundreds of pages. I downloaded to try, and the program is not intuitive, so ok, I try to learn what I need. It still falls short, sorry. Two main problems:

[1] Drag and drop works good FROM the bucket, click anywhere on a word line, as it should be. Drag and drop from the main window is a mess - click "near" the edge? Too clumsy. Should be able to click and drag from anywhere on the text line, like the bucket.

[2] EVERYTHING that should be in the right mouse click menu is not there - like indent commands, move to bucket/wherever, font changes, and essentially every command that is in the top toolbar and several commands that are in the bottom utility pane. Keyboard shortcuts are fine, but if you are going through a written publication or multitasking with another program, one hand is all I use to outline.

Hope this helps and hope these shortcomings are fixed, then will be a great program! Also hope BITS does not delay posting my comments, again!

Rob Interested, but immediately found a repeatable bug;
Start Program - Right click in 'The Bucket' window - click on Edit - 'An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled...'

Adrian User @R Master Thank you for your comments Master.
[1] -> It's a matter of usability and preference. Check MS File Explorer for example, you click on a row once to select it (you can hold and drag it), you then have to click on the row again to edit it.
We try to make Visual Outliner behave more like a text editor, so whenever you click on a row you are in edit mode. Notice that the bucket, being a temporary place holder for ideas, doesn't behave that way. Hmm, we could add an option to have it behave either way, so that you could select your preferred style... Would that work for you?

[2] -> It's a matter of preference again, some people don't like huge menus when they right-click the mouse. We can add a menu option "more" to expand the menu and lock its state until you right-click "less."

I'm glad to hear you write complex docs, we are currently working on having Visual Outliner integrated with the Grav Flat-File CMS System (https://getgrav.org/), so that you will be able post/sync your outlines online with a single click.

R Master [1] Perhaps clicking on blank space in a line for easier drag and drop, and clicking on any word will be edit mode - this would keep the text editor behavior. Or make it an option as you suggested.

[2] Being able to choose what goes in the right click menu would be best.
