Sometimes, you’ll be reviewing a CHM document and want to make notes on it. It’s not a hardcopy, so using a highlighter and a stack of sticky notes isn’t going to cut it. So how can you annotate a CHM document without getting a developer to hack it apart? By grabbing a copy of today’s discount software promotion, Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition!

Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition lets you add notes to CHM documents without altering the original file, incorporating text, images, audio, and video notes. Thanks to a brilliant and intuitive interface, Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition lets you view the original CHM file in a parallel window, with text and multimedia notes displayed.

With its innovative interface, support for docked windows, and six display styles, there’s no reason not to pick up Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition today! Plus, you can even export the original CHM document on demand.

After you purchase Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition, it may be used for 12 months.

_*_ The issue is this is straight up subscription software.

It runs for one year and as I understand it reverts down to the free version (even if you buy the software) once you stop paying.

Eustace Phenackertiban "It runs for one year and as I understand it reverts down to the free version (even if you buy the software) once you stop paying."

That is NOT what it says above i bold, italic print...

"After you purchase Vole CHM Reviewer Professional Edition, it may be used for 12 months and will not function after that."

Sounds pretty unequivocal to me, and it says nothing about the free version.

Rosalind Share According to their FAQ:

What will happen after the service duration?

The software will auto degrade to Free Edition if the user doesn't renew after service duration.

The user can free upgrade even in Free Edition.

Any Free Edition can't upgrade to Profession Edition by free upgrade.

Jeffrey Taylor Which of these two contradictory statements actually describes what will happen to the functionality of this software 12 months after installation: the publisher's FAQ quoted above by Rosalind Share ("the software will auto degrade to Free Edition"), or the description provided in the review and The Fine Print for this BDJ promo ("it may be used for 12 months and will not function after that")?

Norman Wong @Jeffrey Taylor - VMC media library (.vmc) will be create to contain the reviews and multimedia elements. Any Vole CHM Reviewer edition can view the VMC media library includes free edition, professional edition and ultimate edition. You can export the original CHM doc from the VMC media library at any time via any Vole CHM Reviewer edition include free edition, professional edition and ultimate edition too.

Jeffrey Taylor @Norman Wong: Thank you for the explanation. Taking it a bit further, is it correct to make the analogy that the Vole CHM Reviewer essentially generates or "renders" a view that visually combines the elements in the original CHM with the elements of the VMC at runtime, so that the viewer experiences them as a unified whole, even though they only exist as separate sources?

Norman Wong @Jeffrey Taylor -
1, Combine at run time is right.
Vole CHM Reviewer imports Microsoft CHM doc to make Vole Media CHM Media library, analyses the CHM doc and adds user notes into VMC. The software shows the original CHM content and user notes in parallel window and displays text notes and multimedia notes synchronously.
2, Not "only exist as separate source".
The original CHM doc, user notes, local disk multimedia files and online resource link address are all integrated into VMC media library. Vole CHM Reviewer can play the elements in the VMC media library, even you remove the local disk resources which has been attached into.

Jeffrey Taylor @Norman Wong. Thanks again.

Please let me know your answer to another question I posted at almost the same time I posted the one about which we have been corresponding. You apparently only saw one because of the way BDJ combined them into one entry in the comments list. You wouldn't know that I'd posted two different questions unless you read one of them, and then clicked on the words "Read 1 More Post By Jeffrey Taylor."

Here's the link to the question that has gone unanswered:

Norman Wong @Jeffrey Taylor - "not function" in BDJ fine print means "degrade to Free Edition" on Sanwhole website.
