Mike Shanahan Hi Norman, I can't argue with "free," but you mentioned you made "great upgrades"? Seriously? The new terms, activation, Real Name ID, etc. is a classic case of over-the-top developer protection. An upgrade for you maybe, but ridiculous hoops (and privacy concerns) for the consumer.

One year - and then STOPS functioning?!? (Under 'Fine Print') Another case of data hostage taking. For a program like this with personal notes and data, that's a huge risk for the consumer. Again, the hoops for a lifetime license are excessive and an affront to privacy.... and the cost of the Vole Notes Professional (if I chose to pay to keep my program working) is how much?!?! The cost for a lifetime subscription is really $78 for Pro and $125 for Ultimate? I found no comparison chart for Pro vs Ultimate.

I wish you luck, but honestly, what you call "upgrades" are nothing more than draconian licensing and online activation measures.

I wish you would rethink a lot of these ideas.

For Paid users, we need nothing more than before. Just pay via PayPal, nothing else. But the new license policy offers you more benefits than before. For example, one of the great upgrades is that you can activate all your computers (unlimited computers) via one license.

Allow users install unlimited computers via one license is indeed good for paid users. But this cause anyone can resell our products without our permission. They buy one license and then resell. We got nothing.

We will try our best to provide the greatest benefit for paid users, while ensuring that we are not pirated down. We did it – As I said at the beginning.

For new user, we offer a 6-cent (the 6-cent is totally PayPal fee, and we got nothing) Vole Magic Note lifetime product. So if you have PayPal, you don’t need to provide any extra info.

Yes, for paid users I understand that and the multiple activations on all computers is very nice. But for those wanting a lifetime license without paying full price, you have a free program if certain conditions are met, including a Real Name ID scheme - what is that about? What is in that for you?

1. Do you sell the data gathered from the Real Name ID? What is the 6-cent lifetime license about? Why would I get a one-year license for free when I can get a 6-cent version for life?

2. Could you tell us what a Professional Lifetime License costs? Not jumping through hoops, Real ID, etc. If, at the end of my year, I wanted to continue using the software what is the retail cost at this time? Not for just one year or a few years (that just pushes the same problem down thew road) --- but for life. What is the cost? Without referring me to a web page. Simple question.

3. This is important. Why does the one year licensed software *stop working* after 1 year? I can understand no upgrades after a year - even a decreased function free version that allows access to data - but not working at all??? Can you explain your thinking on this decision? How is this not a data hostage situation?

4. Is the Professional Edition the only paid version now? Do you still have the Ultimate Version? If so - what are the differences? Is there a comparison chart?

Your requirements is way beyond reasonable. Not going to happen. . not now, not ever, not up in here. Your SSL was a free one that does not verify ownership. Your WHOIS is incomplete and does not provide a street address; just the city. Though for some godforsaken reason you expect your customers to provide information that you wouldn't commit to. You seem like an intelligent man and your products are worthy, yet I still feel you asking for an ID even from a very small and select group is just wrong. Why wouldn't a working e-mail as part of the license key / ID not be sufficient proof.

For old users that have purchased our product via PayPal, you don’t need name-verification process. Just purchase the zero process LTUD offer and send me a letter, we can issue the lifetime license in advance. Once you get 10 like votes, you can keep the lifetime license as long as you want. So maybe you can save your seven cents.

1. The best way is you don’t purchase for someone else, let someone purchase via your PayPal.
“Someone else” can first create his/her account with her/his full name. Then “Someone else” can purchase her/his product via your PayPal account.

2. If they are couples, I think they will not mind showing each other's names at office or home. While their colleagues or neighbors will not think they are piracy.

3. You may create account with your full name first and then purchase via PayPal. Paid user doesn’t need name-verification process. The software will display your Sanwhole register name on the software.

peter anon What's the difference between LTUD & LTUG ?

This is all way too complicated for the average user.
Free for 1 year means nothing.
Getting 6 votes on something is beyond me.

If you want to charge X for a lifetime licence, please just do so.
Without "hoops."

AFAIC the best way to combat piracy is to have a great product, and a verified user "community" with active support and upgrades and bonuses.

But anyone here on bitsudujour is trying to pay you, and you are making that ridiculously complicated.

Mary User I thought I would try it as it was free. I created a log in and went threw all of the items needed to get it. You asked me for my ID and I signed up as I get the impression you don't sell the information to others. Your sight is very interesting. Looks like the program the program downloaded but I have a major problem.. My major problem is that Norton Utilities deleted it saying it is not safe and deleted it from my system. I am amazed that you don't ensure that virus program doesn't think it is a problem. Until this major problem is fixed, I will not be able to load the program. And before you ask, I do not stop my virus program to load any program.

JMJ Squared @Norman Wong - Greetings. I've used your 'Windows Expedition Pro' and 'Magic Note Pro' for more than three years and like them both very much.

I know that you are 100% justified in trying to protect your work from being pirated and think that your approach is reasonable and fair. That is, by linking a particular person to a particular License Key File, you hope to discourage that person from illegally sharing his/her Key File, online and elsewhere. And, should you discover that the information in that Key File has, indeed, been illegally shared, then you will know the EXACT source of that sharing.

Sounds fair and reasonable to me.

It is also reasonable and fair that you try to establish the REAL identity of the person attached to that Key File by relying on the due diligence of PayPal, since anybody can open an email account with a fictitious name, location, etc. If a person does not have an account with the ubiquitous PayPal, you ask them to establish their REAL identity by other means. Again, that sounds sane and fair to me.

I also like your attempt to grow your online user "forum" by offering participants the opportunity to get a LIFETIME license to your software for FREE (Okay, for 6 cents) in return for their helping other users of your software. That is imaginative, creative and generous. I wish Adobe CC, Microsoft Office 365 and many, many other software publishers followed your example.

Please put links to portable versions of your software alongside the installer versions. I had to look a bit too hard to find them.

Your Shopping Cart is NOT communicating properly with PayPal's website today (09 May 2017), according to their Customer Support who tried to help me complete my purchase of your "Lifetime License Services".

Also, please clarify whether those "Services" include free lifetime upDates and/or upGrades.

JMJ Squared @Mary User - You should take Norton Utilities' actions with a (large) grain of salt. They, like ALL security software, can and do make mistakes, from time-to-time, and give "false positive" detections of 'malware' when none really exists. I believe that is the case with today's offering.

HOWEVER, two of sixty (2/60) other anti-virus products used by VirusTotal also flagged today's installer a"'malicious": Rising and TrendMicro-HouseCall. So, you were wise to be a teensy bit alarmed. Note: 58 other MAJOR, anti-virus products found everything to be okay.

My two cents? It is safe to disable Norton Utilities temporarily and install this software. None of my anti-malware programs "complained".

1) where can I find in this program "check for updates" ??

2) Why is "login" on your website possible only as "Forgot your password" ???

I still have the same password (copy-paste), but after logout, I will no longer log in - just: reset the password, new password (but I will still use the same password !!!). 3x log out, then 3x login - failed = reset, the new password (still the same (!), then log in - OK (?!).

Vlado User Name of this download is "setupvolemagicnote7051-May2017" - that I think it is version ...7051.
But Installation process says - NEWER version is already installed (I have version ...7041) - and it interrupted ...
Hmm - Why it is not the newest version ??? - when update/upgrade is for 12 months ??!!

3) 7051 is the latest version. You may manually uninstall version 3.58.7041 and then install version 3.58.7051. The Windows system will show an alarm if the version is only the last part are different.

Stephen Brown I've been unable to activate the program. Initially downloaded it yesterday morning and have tried multiple times. The instructions given, i.e.

License Activation

· You may login and click top right "Your Name" to enter your account.

I cannot find ''Your Name''

Trying the Specify Licenses File comes up with a License File Name is invalid. There's only just over an hour to go before this giveaway ends and I really wanted to try the Pro version of this program before deciding to purchase it

Stephen Brown Finally sorted it. When I downloaded the Vole License document I changed it's name to Vole Magic Note Professional Edition AUTD 1-Year, changing it back to the original name i.e. VoleLicenses enabled me to use the specify license, however, there was a further problem. I'd installed the program to a different drive to the one programmed into the installer. Deleting the program and reinstalling it enabled me to finally register the program. Phew. Thanks a million for giving a years license for the the pro edition away

Stephen Brown Sorted the activation, the issues were that I'd changed the installation path and the name of the Vole License, so wasn't able to specify the license file, and once I'd changed the license document back to it's original name (I'd renamed it Vole Magic Note Professional Edition AUTD 1-Year), I found I had to move the installed application to it's original path (I usually place applications on a different hard drive to my C drive a space is limited as I use a small 500GB SSD rather than the much larger traditional drives). Anyway, changing that back to the original path enabled me to activate the application.

Thank you for the 1 year license, it is very much appreciated. I usually purchase these freebies if I find I use them a lot. I also got Vole Edutainment from the giveawayoftheday the other day, so thanks for that as well. Have a great week. :)

Phil Me In Yes the registration is complicated at first but once you get through it, things will make more sense - particularly if you decide to buy any additional software from the SanWhole Studio Suite.

I purchased Norman's other app, Vole Windows Expedition, which is also part of the SanWhole Studio Suite, and am very satisfied with it. It's a better alternative to Microsoft's default Windows File Explorer. I'm also glad Norman has corrected the issue regarding 4K monitor compatibility for the entire studio suite. Now, I can view everything inside it without any hitches or scaling issue.

I just downloaded the Vole Magic Note and I find it useful. As a trained researcher, I find this tool helpful for conducting research that requires integrated organization of all my sources.

dave User I tried to install another Sanwhole product (Vole Office?) and, though I'm a somewhat experienced computer user and usually have a lot of patience with using them, I gave up after about 30 minutes. (Told you I have patience!)

I tried again with Magic Note, and this time I'm well over 30 minutes.

Downloaded easily. Clicking to install it, Windows Defender blocked it. Disabled Windows Defender, (after finding out how to run it ad Admin) , blocked it again. Downloaded it again, same story.

I disabled it entirely in Task Manager. Did not help.

I'm about out of patience, and there's only 4 hours left for the giveaway, but I would really like to try this. Any ideas, Sanwhole or anyone? Thanks, and stay safe. People like me need people like you!

By the way, I wanted Magic Note, not Sanwhole Studio, but saw no way to download just Magic Note.

The installation is probably defective.
After "activate this PC" and selecting the button "Vole Magic Note", nothing happens.
nothing happens, you can double-click 100 times.

Tony Drago I am confused. What is the difference between the Free Magic Note Pro & the $16 Magic Note Ultimate? Any added features? Can't see a comparison or list on the website. Both appear to have a lifetime license. It appears that you must install the entire "office" package versus just Magic Note. Also are these "notes" just an easy HTML 5 editor? Looks like WAY more than just notes. Any insight/info appreciated. Thanks & Happy Holidays!

Wocius Wei I have read all of the comments from past offers, and offer a suggestion and a question.

Suggestion: change the term "AUTD Always Up To Date" to "1YUTD One Year Up To Date," as that is what AUTD really means here. "Always" always means even longer than "lifetime" but as used by Sanwhole means just one year.

Question: what exactly is the meaning of "(Renewal is not supported)" in "Sanwhole Studio 365 Business Ultimate Edition AUTD 1-Year (Renewal is not supported) 99% off ($3.12)"? Does it mean, as it says, I cannot renew the program after one year? Also, what is the point of describing it as "Always Up To Date" if it also says "1-Year"?

RichU Norman, I am getting a message to update the software when I try to open Sanwhole Studio. But when I click the OK button, nothing happens. Do I need to manually uninstall Sanwhole Studio and then re-install the newer version? Will I keep the registrations for the items I already have registered? I just tested and the download link is working properly. Please manually uninstall the old version before downloading and installing the new version. If there are still issues, please attach a picture.

There is no need to register to use our giveaway software. Therefore, you do not need to send a registration email, even if you do, the system cannot process it. You can refer to the activation instructions in the BDJ email again.

Mark Snyder I reimage my PC abt every 6 months so I would need the ability to install after the 12 months restriction as stated in the fine print. This is what caught my eye and may deter me from buying.

"You must install/register the software within 12 months, and cannot do so afterwards"

Yes. It's really interesting and a bit difficult to understand. Especially for software based on the Sanwhole VMC multimedia library, many people do not know how to use it even after purchasing. john parmele I installed the version that came with the link in my registration email. I then went to the site and downloaded from there. Same version (17.0.33006.217)

Greg Lovingfoss MrGregL - This program appears to offer everything I have been looking for for many years. I would like to use this program on my primary Windows computer, however, I travel with both an iPad and an android phone. Do you have plans for a version for these devices? I don’t mind purchasing separate licenses, but it would be good if they could update each other.

I have received your email and I will reply here.

This software is a Windows desktop program. It cannot be run on mobile phones, but it supports Surface devices (Windows 10+ system with Intel 64-bit CPU is required). It can be run through a virtual machine on Mac/Linux systems (also requiring Intel 64-bit CPU).

Each notebook is stored as an independent file (with the extension .vmc). For example, after creating "MyFirstNotebook", the MyFirstNotebook.vmc file will be generated in the VoleMagicNote/DAT/VMCS path of the software installation directory. This file supports cross-device synchronization: you can directly copy the .vmc file to other computers, or install the entire software to a USB flash drive for portable use (note that each new device must be activated when used for the first time). Regardless of the method used, all note contents (including multi-page text and attachments) will be completely saved in a single .vmc file.
