What are people saying about WebTools Pro

mike b A while back there was discussion on Iconico's forum of a version of WebTools Pro that was not dependent on the Iconico server. Is this something that is still on the roadmap?

WebTools Pro is still an online application and as such it needs Iconico's servers to function. I can assure you we're not going anywhere!

Niels Erik Karkov It is a wonderfull progran that saves time and gives a key to analyze problems. I just cannot figure out whether it is still on version 1.0. I bought mine a couple of years ago.

Jay Miller Does this program also work in FireFox?

Sorry but WebTools Pro is for Internet Explorer only.

Jay Miller Amazing how posts that the author/admin does not like, get deleted.
The fact that it does NOT work in Firefox would be a serious shortcoming for a lot of people, that perhaps forget to look for this!

Correct that it is Internet Explorer only, if you use Firefox then there are many free products out there you might like. Try Firebug!

Jay - I just realized what else you meant by your comment. We were doing some work on the system yesterday and the earlier comments that were left for this review were lost. Sorry if that seemed like we were deleting things, we certainly did not mean to come across as censoring anything. The comments are actually still there, they are just attached to the earlier date that this promotion was run on - we're going to be continuing to do some work on showing comments across all dates when we re-run promotions. Our appologies again.

Bobby Frant I've been looking for a tool that works with Internet Explorer. This one does the job!

Lasares L If you ever do a Firefox version, I would be most interested. Thank you.

Scott User Lasares, I doubt if there will be a Firefox version forthcoming. If you've got Firebug and the Web Developer Toolbar, you've pretty much got most, but not all, of the functionality of WTP. And FF and IE have completely different extensibility models, so Nico would have to rewrite it from scratch, only to go up against that free competition.

WTP's a good product; I've owned it since 2004 and it is unique in the IE sphere, AFAIK. It's saved my bacon on a couple of contracts, and until and unless MS or someone else comes up with a competitor, it's still one of the best tools available for troubleshooting IE issues. If you often find yourself scratching your head over IE problems (and what Web dev doesn't?) it's worth the investment, especially while it's on special at half price.
