Christian User For me a very good software.
I especially appreciate :
Each license allows installation on all owned computers.
Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product.
An example to follow for a lot of publishers !!!

H264 for video, AAC for audio, stored in .mp4 container. Encoding is hardware accelerated if possible.

No I haven't used it because all my OSs are Windows 7 Pro. However I was initially interested in trying it. But I went to the Developer's Website to learn more about the program when I came across it not being able to run on anything but Windows 10 and Windows 8.

I put the warning in my other post because I know how easy it is to overlook System Requirements and I was trying to save people a headache due to ordering it and then find out later it doesn't operate on any OS below Windows 8.

The Developer's Website says: "WinCam runs only on Windows 10 and 8"

Most likely there is no microphone attached. Just uncheck Microphone and/or System Audio before recording. It must be fixed in the next release. Thank you!

Orochi User That's right by default microphone was selected and I don't have any, unchecked and it is working now, thankfuly my AMD RX 480 card is also supported and working well, I'm buying right now Thanks for your help

Lito Question regarding hardware acceleration. Can I choose to use Software encoding instead of using hardware encoding? I have used ffmpeg to convert videos and IMHO nvidia hardware encoding isn't great. The file size is usually bigger and more pixelated than the equivalent cpu based h264 encoding option. Sure the speed is nice with hardware acceleration, but if I am recording a tutorial, quality of video is most important.

Lito Got the trial version and gave it a spin. To answer my own question, I didn't see a way to specify the use of Hardware vs software based encoding.

I am going to buy a license since like winsnap it is very easy to use especially if you just want to record something quick.

There are some features that I think need to be implemented though IMHO to be more a complete solution especially for tutorial creators.
1) Hotkey press recording. Some programs use lots of hotkeys and it would be helpful if I happen to use one during a tutorial video for it to pop up in a specified corner of the screen cap (like a watermark pop up).
2) A way to draw on the screen while recording. Like winsnap, it's helpful to highlight things on screen at times. Underlining or circling various options as you talk about the option/feature is something really useful to have.
3) A button on the interface or menu item to open the save folder w/ the default explorer. Just something of a QOL issue. Faster than looking it up under preferences then browsing my way there after opening explorer.

franp User I just baught this full price a few months ago and I don't regret it : neat, efficient, easy. The only thing a would like to see in the next version is a mode to follow a moving Windows, and a mode to record a window regardless of whatever window could pop-up in front of the recorded one. Anywayy, already great as is.

Gary User I also bought a license at full price earlier this year and I'm very satisfied with this program. I use it as my main screen recording program because it is easy to use and has sufficient features to meet most of my screen recording needs. However, it won't record a youtube tv screen - it just shows a black screen, but I have another screen recorder that does record all scenes regardless of the source - is there something in the programming designed to prevent it from recording a streaming service like youtube tv?
