What are people saying about Window Nudger

Frank Stephens This looks like a solution in search of a problem. You can type Alt-Space to access the system menu of the current window, which lets you select Move or Size, then use the arrow keys to move or resize the window. Enter accepts, Escape restores. You can turn on Mouse Keys (pre-Vista, MouseKeys). NTWind WindowSpace is better for rearranging windows.

JL Num Is this a free deal, or a trial offer? It implies totally free, yet it has a 'trial download'.

Avi S @internet explorer -
This is actually a very useful utility for many:
(a) keyboard-oriented people know that it is much more efficient to work with the keyboard than the mouse in most situations. This is one of those situations. Window resizing with the mouse is a precision operation (you need to catch the thin border with your mouse), and takes time. People will large monitors who often position multiple applications for simultaneous use find themselves doing this again and again. Window Nudger solves this problem.
(b) teachers who use their computers to project on a screen or smartboard, and who dynamically position on the screen various displays of images, text files, and databases, in order to impart the knowledge of complex systems, both scientific and literary, will find themselves in need of a quick and efficient way to perform precision movements and resizing of windows. Window Nudger provides this.

Little Bear JL Num : You should have got an email with an activation license key string that is needed to fully activate the program. If you have not gotten your license key you may need to check your email spam folder. As for using the program, it confused the heck out of me, and I'll have to play around with it some more to fully appreciate what the software has to offer. I do have issues remembering key commands to do things around the computer and this tool is no exception.

Louis H @JL Num..... The folks at BDJ can correct me if I am misinterpreting how this all works, but the way these free deals have been working is prior to the day of the free deal the software is indeed a trial version in need of a license to turn it into a full version. On the day of the deal what you get is the license (or serial number) to fully activate the software.

Yesterday the deal was not live and so it was a trial download. Today the deal is live and so - again unless I am wrong - you can get the license for free to turn the program into a full working version. Tomorrow it goes back to being a version you will need to pay for, unless either the offer gets extended (as some offers do) or you take advantage of the offer today.

With lifetime free updates, (according to the Policy box above) why not take advantage of the deal? If it turns out to be something I do not use or even install to begin with, it's a free utility to put in my tool box so that if such a need arises I have it on hand.

And thanks to Avi S for pointing out that there are indeed situations in which such a program can be very helpful.

naveed I just tried this and found some issues:

1. It says there are duplicate key combinations without telling me which ones. As far as I can there aren't any
2. The UI doesn't follow standard conventions and is hard to use - consider using a standard Save, Apply and Cancel buttons at the bottom at the very least
3. The UI is unattractive
4. It doesn't allow using the Windows key as a modifier
5. It doesn't recognize key presses in the options dialog, you have to type them out
5. The memory usage is high for a small utility - 41MB on Windows 7 x64.

internet explorer having trouble getting registration code. tried 3 times and it's still not in inbox or spam folder after the better part of an hour waiting. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming it's not just that you've run out of codes or surely there would be a notice posted to that effect, right? I've never had any problem getting email before, as my ISP is AT&T with its associated Yahoo email. I also tried using two different computers, but still no luck.

Doug Miller I'm trying to understand the need as well. In Windoze (& Ubuntu), Alt-Space accesses the top left window menu (Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Mazimize) and even in a command prompt window the same gives you access to it's main menu. What does one gain by giving up memory and CPU time to this application?

Justin Cram I've been using keyboard hotkeys since 1982 onward Amiga days! And I will always use them!

ALT Space and pressing the corresponding underlined Letter quickly give you great default hotkey's which is available for all users and almost all OS.

MAC is similar with "mac command space" "options"

if all this is freely built in why would one want to purchase this software is there truly anything yours does that defaults built in doesn't do besides creating redundant/duplicated functions anyway?

Thanks in advanced Hi5

Constantin Florea @Petr, Our licensing system is Per Computer. However you can use a license key to register the application on a desktop computer and on a laptop. This goes for all Iconico products (including ColorPro) except for SeeGreen.

Retired Engineer I want Windows 10 windows to pop on in the relative position I specify. I do NOT want to have to reposition a new window after it pops on.

Does Window Nudger support this?
Jun 3 2018 at 8:25am Copy Link
0
Constantin Florea @Retired Engineer, I assume you are referring to the "Hide" functionality. If so, currently after restoring the windows, their position and size is the same as before they were hidden however there is an exception to this rule: if the windows are maximized just before they are hidden, their position and size will be the ones before being maximized.

So it would indeed be great if they will remain maximized after being restored if they were maximized just before being hidden.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Retired Engineer Constantin:

I genuinely appreciate your interpretation of my question from Jun 3 2018. However, I had something different in mind, so my bad writing, I guess.

When I launch a series of cascaded File Explorer windows, they show only the thin window bar. When moving or copying files between windows, I always have to manually spread apart a group of launched windows to get the drag & drop spacing I need.

Therefore I would love to have a utility which presets either these or more complex open window arrangements.
