Jan-Christoph Ihrens @winiso Inc: During the free offer some months ago, the same policy could be found in "The Fine Print" tab, meaning that

"- upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product
- support is provided for the lifetime of the product"

(I have a screenshot of that). About two weeks ago I got an e-mail from you, offering an upgrade to the "full version". I sent you an e-mail, asking why I should upgrade, as it was clearly stated in the policy here at BDJ that updates would be free and support would be provided for the lifetime of the product. I never got an answer.

I'm not sure how it is handled in your part of the world, but here in Germany it isn't possible to change a contract after it has come into effect...

Could you please shed some light on this?

I have that interpretation problem not! What is on the "The Fine Print" State remains in force on the purchased license! The free license offered was for one-time use, without upgrade right! That is it is Somewhere that is logically on.!

Questions:

LU Hello and greetings.

What makes WinISO better than software such as: Alcohol120, and UltraISO except for the interface. They appear to do the same thing and all three have the lifetime upgrade policy?

Also, will WinISO create an ISO file when backing up an Audio CD? Most do not.

Kenneth Bates I have a dual-boot setup on my PC, where I can only use one OS at a time. If I wanted to run your program under Win7 in addition to (but not the same time as) Windows Vista would I need two licenses?

disenchanted Hard to choose between the 4 "most familiar" ISO programs:
- Winiso
- Magiciso
- Poweriso
- Ultraiso

Lots of the same, and/or overlapping features.
Details for the other 3 ISO programs are at wikipedia [but not Winiso]

Is it correct?

Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product.
Is it correct (including all future major versions 7.x, 8.x, ...)?

Chuck User Regarding the prior WinISO giveaway; I have that, and I started it up this morning, and it offered me an upgrade. So I installed it. And it opened up after the upgrade. I closed it and re-opened it. I clicked "Register" under the help menu. I still have the free license. It says: "Registered. Never expires." So I would suggest that anyone who has the prior giveaway test that for themselves. God bless!

bvssunnydale Hi, per the fine print "You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards." - I frequently purchase but don't actually install the software until/unless needed (yes, I have wasted $ on software never installed). Here is a thought. The software may go ahead and update, but if the policy stated at that time of promotion there are no free upgrades, maybe, just maybe, you are breaking the terms of the contract.

Another thought. Just because you may have a version of a piece of software and a serial number to activate it. That does not necessarily make you a legal owner of the software.

Alot of people constantly want something for free from these developers, but if the software is something you find a need for, reward the developer by purchasing it. Much of the software here is from small individuals who put a lot of sweat and tears in their work.

Just a few thoughts. By the way, I apologize for the rant and I have absolutely no stake in this software except for the fact I purchased it myself.

What's more is, the developer and many others offer their software worth lifetime upgrades. Can you get any better than that?

DroidLuvr I have been using your program for a while, and looking through all your help & support files, and I just can't seem to find anything about making a bootable SD card/USB drive/flash drive, etc....

Am I missing this? or is there some way to use WinISO to create a bootable USB drive? (I know Microsoft has a tool for Windows 8 to do this, but I am trying to make a bootable Win7 installation for a laptop that has a completely dead DVD drive, and I really don't want to spend the money to replace it as it is a few years old. I just need the installation disk to reinstall some features, and it does have the ability to boot from an external USB drive in the BIOS settings...)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

ami kapi I am to repeat many times: no matter what one offers as the giveaway, this should NOT be time limited usage - the offer should be unlimited, eventually with no free upgrades... there are tons of same or better quality freeware. If you offer giveaway, with lifetime duration, this simply means, one can test it to see with the time, if it really provides for what is sold out (i.e. if this is brand, or brand on the nick market, or, is it just repainted pale functionality on the super saturated field). Many programs offer much, but later, one finds: bugs, crashes, bloatware, virus halts, uncontrolled outgoing traffic to the net, etc. etc.
Shrotly: give it for liftetime, or, just do not offer at all..

Tim Hade Enable Java-script?
Java script is enabled and I am still getting that msg. Click on the Get it free link and all it does is indicating page load, right click to take it to another tab, it comes up with enable Java Script.
Dang sure works on the "buy" page though

Hell, I likely would have bought it for the price it is being offered at, if didn't like it better than what I already had, I could give it to one of the kids.

Eustace Phenackertiban There appears (I hope) to be a misunderstanding WRT to 12-month license. Does that mean that you can use it for 12 months, with full access to any upgrades during that time, then after that time the software continues to work as is, but one must pay (a reduced price) to access upgrades beyond that 12 months?

Or, does it mean that after 12 months there is a kill switch and the software ceases to function at all?

If the latter, then this is simply a time-limited demo, something which is not typically offered on BDJ. Please clarify. Thank you.

Constantin Florea @Tim Hade - Could you please try another browser like IE, Chrome, Firefox or Opera with the browser cache deleted? The issue you mention (not the Javascript issue) may be caused by browser add-ons/extensions which you have installed and which may interfere with the purchase flow.

Cooler @Jackie, no need for sarcasm. If you really think about it, time limited version is actually more like "extended tryout period" than free.

Time limited use for subscription service, yes.
Time limited use of software, no.

Of course, there are 12 months worth of updates with this, but I prefer "free" software without usage limited by time. Even when it's non-updateable software.

So, thanks to WinISO Computing Inc. for this, but I'll skip this.

Stefan Hauber About the functionality: If I understand it right, WinISO is able to load an ISO-file and I can remove/add files to it. Right?

I suppose the main-sense of creating an ISO file out of a DVD (instead of just copying the files) is, to keep the internal structure of the DVD. So e.g. if a program on it tries to read a certain section of the dvd to verify it's content, this must be possible too with the ISO-file.

So, when editing the ISO by removing some files or adding some, can I define a region inside the ISO-file (e.g. Track 0-10), which is sacrosanct, i.e. which WinISO should not modifiy?

Can WinISO also simulate errors? I suppose, some software-vendor delivers CDs/DVDs explicitely with errors on certain blocks and to check out, if the original CD is inserted, they try to read these blocks, to find out, if there still are (the same kind of) errors and they stop executing, if these are not there.

Is there any difference, what WinISO can or can't do in comparison to DaemonTools, which, if I remember right, is about the same object. (Or WinMount?)

The Giveaway version is restricted to 12 months of upgrades and support, but WILL continue to function after that period has lapsed. The paid version includes lifetime upgrades and support. Apologies for the confusion, hopefully this sorts everything out.
