nothingness User I bought the WinPatrol product, and installed the WinPatrol Firewall. Do I need to close the Windows Firewall in Win7? If not closed, will the two conflict?

Bret Lowry Hi Nothingness, the WinPatrol Firewall is made to run along side of other firewalls, so no you do not need to close the Windows Firewall.

jim stout Will you please tell me how I get WinPatrol code in order for me to get download?
When I log into my BitDuJour account It does not show that I have purchased Five lifetime licenses.
And it also does not show some of my previous orders.

@ciprian and @jim stout I have contacted the vendor regarding the purchase issues you mention (I sent him an individual email for each).

@jim stout This promotion runs with Avangate meaning that your purchase will appear under the Off-Site Purchases section, not under the On-Site Purchases section. The Off-Site Purchases section only shows the icons from promotion pages and it assumes that you purchased the products through the third party e-Commerce systems. We have no way of knowing if you went all the way with those purchases.

I have used WinPatrol for years. It just runs quietly (until it spots an issue) and I've never had a problem with it.

The Firewall. I really don't know what to say. I continue to use it - when it's good, it's very good. To balance this, it's disruptive, an absolute pig for resources (especially disk space - routinely creating multi-gigabyte ***work*** files) and a clear, repeatable, fundamental security hole which I notified "them" about took months to be acknowledged and even longer to be fixed.

I say "them" because I suspect that the company's basic issue is that it's under-resourced.

Mark Harper The latest release has a really annoying bug whereby the software produces a popup dialogue each and every time a connection is blocked which is totally unnecessary. Another issue is when resuming after hibernation and every previously allowed connection is re-prompting to be allowed all over again.
Thankfully I had the previous version and have 'downgraded' to that version which isn't available to download from their website.
Overall it is a very good product and works well on the whole. I'm just waiting for the fixed version which I was told was 'coming soon' last June.
Overall I do recommend the Winpatrol Firewall and even more so WinPatrol Plus which I has used for many years.

First Thanks, Mark. Yes, the "Block Alert" messages are deeply aggravating.

Just be careful that your "previous version" is later than 2016.12.929 - IIRC, that was the one with "the clear, repeatable, fundamental security hole". Sadly, that's the most recent one I have before 2017.5.1010.0.

What did you do in order to receive. What was your detailed procedure?
Constantin Florea send email to vendor after my first post and I am still in same position, no codes or keys nor communication from anyone.

Constantin Florea @jim stout, I am sorry about the delay in receiving the codes. The vendor is responsible with sending those because the promotion is running with his preferred e-Commerce system (in this case Avangate) and we (BitsDuJour) have no control over any vendor accounts on other e-Commerce systems.

The vendor is receiving both my emails and comment notifications for every comment added on this promotion page. He should also receive sale notifications from his e-Commerce system. Perhaps he doesn't reply because of the week-end. I am sure he will reply as soon as he gets to a computer and see our messages and the sales notifications from his e-Commerce.

However, due to the numerous comments about the lack of development and the developer's unwillingness or inability to respond to comments, I will pass. Sounds like many others will also. Too bad!

Patrick Leahy I purchased this last time around and after a couple of weeks had many problems.
So I wrote to the vendor to apply the 30 day money back guarantee.
My emails were totally ignored time and again so off to Paypal for my refund.
Not a good vendor to purchase from.
