Amit I guess that as winstep extreme is licensed per user so buying the deal of $19(regular $39.90) would mean that 1 user can install and use winstep xtreme on 3-4 or more or even all of his pcs/laptops. Is that correct ?

And buying the deal of $39.47(regular $78.95) would give the license to 5 users to use winstep xtreme on all such pcs/laptops. Is that correct as well.

Please clarify as I am intrested in buying the home network from bitsdujour.

Jorge Coelho @Amit - Strictly speaking, you are correct, but...

Personally I think the idea of a license PER DEVICE rather than PER USER is unfair for the user, so I don't want to enforce this. At the same time, I also think it's unfair for the developer if the user installs the software on more than 3 devices using the same single user license - this also results in installations being flagged for analysis.

This is the reason why the special 'Home Network' license exists, as it is, in my opinion, a very reasonable middle ground:

For less than the price of two single user licenses, the user can install the software on up to 5 devices, which can be used by multiple people in his household.

Furthermore, this is a one time only effort: after the 1 year of free updates is over, the optional yearly renewals of the Home Network License cost exactly the same as single user renewals.

TL;DR: if you are installing the software on 3 or more machines but less than 6, then you should get the Home Network License.

John User This is one of my favorite program which is a must add when I am setting up my new computer. Its plethora of features is overwhelming at times - there is so much it can do I am often learning new things to use it for.

I just checked that I renewed last on November 16, 2017 and that I am only good until November 16, 2018. I was unable to find my version number of the software, but my question is: Does Winstep Xtreme issue a new version annually requiring a renewal or is the renewal good for more than one year?

"Purchasing Winstep Xtreme entitles you to 1 full year of FREE upgrades. All upgrades released during that year will work with your license key and are yours to keep – forever and ever.

AFTER that year elapses, when a new version you would like to have is released, you can upgrade to it for half the original purchase price. That renewal in turn entitles you to ANOTHER year of FREE upgrades, which is why this process is called an upgrade subscription."

Normally there are several updates released per year (although Winstep is in no way obliged to release new updates) each update filled to the brink with new features (just check the News section on the Winstep web site), so you truly get more than your money's worth.

For instance, in the last year there were four updates already (v17.12, v18.1, v18.3, v18.5) with v18.8 about to be released.

To check your version number, just open Preferences and look at the top right corner of the About tab.

John User OK, I think the problem might have been that for some reason I wasn't getting the updates. I did go to your website and upgraded to the most current version (v18.5) and upon running it asked me to do another update - something about an English voice. Fully upgraded now.

Anyway, let me get the financials right... The price today offered here for v18.5 is $19.95. The Buy Now price on your website is $19.95. When my current license expires on November 16, 2018 will my renew license price also be $19.95?

Jorge Coelho @John User - The Buy Now price on the website is only $19.95 today because we synchronize the promotion with BDJ. Normal price for Winstep Xtreme is, as you know, $39.90.

Price of update subscription renewals is also $19.95 (i.e.; 50% off the original purchase price, same as the discount offered on the BDJ promotion).

Since you are already a registered user, wait until you need to renew.

Jorge Coelho @John User - As for not getting the updates: open Preferences, go to the Advanced tab in Preferences and make sure that the 'Notify me when new updates are available' setting is enabled (which it should be now since you got the notification for the voice files update).
