Greg Hey I am just getting the trial to check this out. Wondering if one can also setup/define other file types to be included and added to the standard file types supported out of the box? Some that come to mind are .mp4 (video) and application specific types like .camrec (camtasia) for example.

It is possible that the purchase pop-up is affected by the different add-ons/extensions you may have installed which may cause the questionnaire link to be hidden. In this case I first suggest clearing your browser cache and if that doesn't fix the issue, then please use another browser: IE, Chrome, Firefox.

Scott Van Leeuwen It doesn't really do much that turning on your Windows Index will do. It needs OCR built in and needs to be able to search inside a document for key words. I may have named a document "Medical Visit July 2013" and need to search for a doctors name in a document that I forgot what I named it. It does nothing with PDF files. It is just a very basic file manager. Nothing else. Put OCR into it and perhaps you have a software program.

Jay M for Scott Van Leeuwen: 1. Go to Indexing - Advanced - File Types, and remove the check for PDF. Press OK - Press Close 2. Uninstall any Ifilters that you have relating to searching PDF Files 3. Unless you have Adobe Reader 9.3 or higher, uninstall it. 4. Go to and install Adobe Reader 9.3 or Higher if not already installed. 5. Download and install Ifilter 9 from Adobe (Win 7 64 bit only) 6. Go back to Indexing - Advanced - File Types, and re-check PDF. The Press the 'Index Settings Tab' (THEN WAIT) 7. Try and keep all your PDF files in one folder. 8. Search for a PDF in the Windows search box (top right). You should see a message prompt near the top of the screen telling you that indexing is turned off, then asks you if you want to turn it on. Click the message and click to enable indexing. 9. Go back to Indexing, and click Rebuild (The rebuilding will take hours and will not work untill it is done!) If you did as I said above, you will be able to click on a start button and search for PDF files, and the contents inside them, including ones that you may have used OCR.

1. What are the magic 8 keywords to help search? I'm guessing the index is only indexing file titles and not file conten, but I can't find that information anywhere.

2. The encrypt function - what happens if you foget the password? Have you locked your files away forever?

Constantin: I do not remember the exact wording now, and it did not make much sense at the time, but I think it was telling me there was nothing in the cart even though I had done everything the same as usual for a Facebook giveaway. Of course, I went back and tried everything again to see if I had messed up, but I just got the same result again. As you can tell, I was going for the free version of Wonderfox Document Manager, which I think would be a useful program for me, but now I can't get it since that offer did not run an extra day like some do, so there is no chance to find a solution and go back and use it to get the software. Has anything changed lately in your Facebook giveaway procedures or the like? If not, can you tell me if this software is going to be given away again anytime soon? Thank you for your assistance.

By the way, I did purchase this since it comes with lifetime updates, which I am sure that the issues Peter User mentions will be addressed in the next update. Peter User @Chris: Why are you sure that the program will become an update to have a "fullscreen-window-option"? I think not. But if - it will take a long time... At the last promotion the vendor said: "We will add other file types in the near future versions." But nothing happened in 8 months (don´t know what Vers. 1.2 makes better that the versions before). Sorry - near future is for me in the next half year - but each has his own conception.

Peter User @Svend Östergaard: This is logical because the SW scans the PC and for exampke in a lot of SW-Installationsfolder are documents. But who need them? Like you wrote: "I didn´t even know I had" - so you didn´t previously use them. Normally put the user his important files in one directory and to find there a document is the windows-search better than this program. Would this tool scan and search inside the files: great - but no, it doesn´t: Not really helpfull.

I bought the pay version of the document manager today and then send an email to support because I cannot understand why a conversion button is dimmed. But it was returned. Then I tried their support ticket system - same result. The program seems to be OK though - I Wonder why!

Chris @ Constantin ~ When I click the button in the program "Check Latest Version" I am taken to http://www.documents-mana...rsion.html which comes back with this error: Server Error: 404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

How can we check for updates? Also, I have seen no reply about the key I received after purchasing not working with the download from their site.

I take it that they made a special build for this giveaway, hence the giveaway in the name of the installer file. That is probably why the key doesn't work with the download from their site.

You know what's a great free option to find stuff on your PC? It's a free download called "Search Everything" - would have liked how this laid things out, had it worked, but now I just gotta clean the leftover crud it left in my download folder.

Mr Dave Too bad this only works with MS Office files, there are a lot of alternatives out there these days. Even within MS Office there are Access and Publisher and Wordwriter and One Note files depending on your version. Also, is there a way to group files by project or subject, instead of by filetype? I can filter or sort by filetype very easily in all the file managers I use. Being able to group the same file(s) in multiple projects, without making copies, would be helpful. Would also be helpful to see what groups (projects) a file belongs to. Thanks BDJ and Wonderfox, but this isn't the tool I need. Could be very helpful for others....

_*_ I found simply using a program such as XYplorer (sold here) and creating a tab with simple names as *.pdf, *.docx, etc. works just as well and better in many regards.

I got the program to work but was not overly impressed. Did not like the dark look, no full screen, and one big long list as the only view.

It could be a fast and convenient way to look at files but needs some of the above resolved.

Bill Morgan Hey, it works for me. Other than the need to "Run as Administrator" in order to install [kudos to Reginald Collins for pointing that out], it does what it's supposed to do and is better than anything else that I had prior to installing it, which was nothing. Now I can conveniently find the file types that I use most often without all the searching around and head scratching trying to remember where I had saved them. If you create and save a lot of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents, then this is a great program. Thanks very much for the freebie WonderFox.

Mark Magill I have to say, I was not expecting much from this type program but this one has totally changed my mind! It has a nice presentation and is easy to use, and I can see myself using this for a long time to come.

I too had the "Fail to set drives" error on the first install attempt and one other that mentioned something about permissions. I ran the installer again with Administrative access and it installed just fine. Registration was completely painless, it instantly accepted the registration code.

ONE THING: When its initially indexing your files, it says "Converting xxx" something. Don't worry - your files are NOT being changed. A better word at that point would be "Indexing" not converting.

1. I bought Wonderfox HD Video Converter Factory Pro at a previous offering here.
2. The program contains a module for downloading videos from YouTube, but it has never worked as intended and only offers the low-resolution variants (after performing a lengthy alanysis of the manually input YouTube video address—to no avail), and makes it impossible to download the HD variants of the video you want.
3. I have contacted WonderFox on several occasions about this and at first they tried to persuade me that I was doing something wrong, but after I sent them a video capture of the whole process, they obviously had to admit that the software module is faulty. However, all communication stopped at that point and my emails are left unanswered.

Tino User Like how in the description states "Giveaway Version".... I'll pass on this, not worth my time if it's not the latest and will be constantly hounded to upgrade to the newest version. This is what they usually do.

Constantin Florea @Tino User, The version we're promoting today is the latest version which is 1.2.

The "Giveaway Version" label refers to the fact that the giveaway version has the following conditions:
- You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards.
- Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

Except for the above conditions, the giveaway version is exactly the same as the version the vendor is selling on the product web site here:

pw3000 What happens if hard drive fails and you have to reinstall and can't because installation must be done while promotion is active?

Do you loose your encrypted documents that are stored on other hard drives or flash drives because you can't open them?

Already have had Wonderfox "free" software auto update and then require purchase to continue using and then could not go back and reinstall "free" version.

At least there should be a message when upgrade is available informing you that purchase of a new license is required before you proceed.

This is totally unacceptable.

I am done with Wonderfox...

Constantin Florea @carol herman, In "The Fine Print" tab the following condition is present:
"You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards."
which means that you won't be able to re-install the software on another day.

On this page:
I see that the highest platform on which the program runs is Windows 8.

However I have just contacted the vendor regarding your two questions, to see if there is anything else he may say/add.

Mark Magill BE ALERT: This program automatically selected my D: drive to install to, which is my RECOVERY PARITITION for my computer. Why on earth it would default to that is beyond me, so watch carefully when the installer runs.

It looks like a nice enough program, but until PW3000's question about what happens to your files if your computer crashes and you can't reinstall is answered, I can't risk anything of any importance in the program. Too bad.... would have liked to have something like this. (Yes, it did run OK on Windows 10)

Chris Beware if you purchase this like I did in 2013. It is still the same version as then and you get the installer from BDJ which is a special build for the FREE version. If you try to use your key in the version from their site it is invalid. This is bad business for those who chose to purchase this as we can not upgrade if and when there is a new version.

Like I said, I purchased this from here in 2013 via this same offer. It seems BDJ only offers the special build FREE version and keys since my key doesn't work for the build offered on their site.

Also, the site tied to my version when checking for updates or other things like help is no longer there.

I sent the support an email telling them I needed a key that worked yesterday, but no reply as of yet.

Chris All I can tell you is I purchased this in 2013 from here for $14.95 and I wanted to install it again on my laptop. I went to their site and downloaded it, installed it, ran it and put the key in and got invalid key.
I then went to my email from you after I purchased it and used that download link which brought me here. I downloaded and installed and ran it and then put the key in and it registered fine.

The downloaded file from them is named document-manager
The one I downloaded via the link in the email from you is named document-manager-October2014

Both are version 1.2 so why wouldn't the key I received from you work with the download from their site, but work with the link I got from you?

jboy Download, installation and registration all executed without issue. The initial indexing took a few minutes but it seems to have found everything on 3 partitions and indexed them very nicely. I appreciate it showing a directory of file types on the left so you can use it to narrow your search if you are looking for something in particular.

Not much time to explore this further today but I did want to say thank you to the WF and BDJ teams for this offering.
