What are people saying about X2Net OneStore

Mary Wilson I have my main system and than there is my laptop that I use for backup and travel. Can I legally put a copy on both laptop and main system?

Colin Messitt You will need two licenses for that. Would the better way to operate be to maintain the database on your main system, and leave it switched on when you travel, and just use the client on the laptop to access your information over the internet?

That way you only have the data in one place and no problems copying it all backwards and forwards and trying to keep it in sync and it getting out of step. Or you could simply access your data from your laptop using the OneStore Portal via a browser and you wouldn't need a second license? And if you also have an iPhone or something like that you can access it from that.

Terry S What settings should one have in order to record what's coming through the speakers? Where do I find that information?

You guessed right - it's not recording... ;-)

SigmaTel audio, and only three recording options shown: Line In, Rear Mic, Microphone.

Thanks!

Terry S OK, found it! In the QuickCapture thingie. But it still won't record. Choosing Line In or Microphone gets beautiful unbroken silence. Choosing Rear Mic gets crackly static.

And I have been able to record what's playing using another program, so it's not like it doesn't work at all.

Any ideas?

No Name The machine that I would be using OneStore on is a different machine than the one I actually expose to the internet. Is it possible to gather and store all of my information from my desktop machine but have the information accessible when I hit my server from elsewhere?

Colin Messitt Terry, what other program are you using that does record ok?

Colin.

Colin Messitt Charles, you need to store the data on the machine exposed to the Internet. To do this install OneStore on there, but don't run the OneStore Client on there. On your other machine fire up the OneStore client, and using the Data Storage option from the bling button top left tell it where to store the data.

Colin Messitt Terry, what OS are you using? Is it Vista? And do any of the tips on the http://applian.com/support-vista.php#sc page help? (I see Applian had to write a new driver to be completely reliable on Vista).

(It's probably something to do with specific sound card drivers, as it works on this Vista machine I'm typing this on).

Terry S Sorry, forgot to specify that.
Vista? (shudder)
Nope, XP Pro SP-2.

Terry S Sorry, hit post too soon.

Colin, I appreciate your efforts to solve this, but please don't waste any more time on it. I'm no longer interested in the program -- no keyboard input (as I read on your forums) brought my interest to a screeching halt. That was the real deal-breaker, and the recording glitch just added to it.

But I thank you for all your attention to this issue. That kind of customer service attitude will keep me checking periodically on the progress of the program. ;-)
