What are people saying about XMind Pro 2013

fran harter The vendor website shows this xmind pro for $49.00/per year or $6.00/month.

I must be missing something on the vendor's website; as I don't see Xmind pro for a list price of $129.00.

m b The Pricing/Buy page at the vendor's site (http://www.xmind.net/pro/buy/) indicates that a 3 year subscription is $129.00, so maybe the BDJ deal is for a 3 year license?

E P Could be the 3-years license as mentioned above. The last time I saw XMind here it was $50 for the 3-years license IIRC.
Interesting to have this one so close to the iMindMap promo.

David Gilmour I installed the Pro version, using the link provided on BDJ, but the app started up as regular XMind, not XMind Pro. I tried reinstalling, and now I get this error message: "Sorry, but XMind Pro has to be shut down now, for your XMind ID is no longer valid to enable further usage of XMind Pro or you may have never purchased XMind Pro before. Please try to contact your customer service on how to recharge your account or log on to www.xmind.net for more information." I am interested in comparing the Pro features to those of iMind Ultimate, which is being featured on BDJ today. So some prompt help would be appreciated. As it stands at the moment, I cannot use XMind at all, and am unable to evaluate either its standard or pro features.

Joan Korte I like to read Chuck Frey's blog on mindmapping. He has tried all of these (usually :) ) and has a broad understanding and up to date info.

See this :http://mindmappingsoftwar...ion-3-0-3/

And he probably has more on XMind because there is a history to this software and its development.

Jonathan Keener Before considering a purchase of this, I want to try the pro version. If I buy a $6 1 month version of the pro and decide I like it, would I be able to extend it to what I'm assuming is the 3 years with this deal, or is this deal good for only for new users?

Grenville Bingham Something is not right here. This product is now "Open Source" and free download at the developer. Why are we paying for it here?

I am confused. Why must I pay for what is free?

Best regards, Gren.

Roger Thomasson Gren, XMind 3 is now free and open source, but this promotion is for XMind Pro 3, which includes numerous additional features.

D T Can you explain the difference between this $123.00 list price and the "subscription" pricing on your website? I don't see any other pricing options there

Thanks.

Niels Erik Karkov Thanks to D T for bringing this up. It smells like having to buy the program with a time limited subscription for making it work!
I don't expect to get an answer from the X Mind company There is 10 old comments and the firm have not cared to respond to any of them.

Roger Thomasson Regarding Pricing:

This deal is for 30 months of an XMIND Pro 3 subscription. The regular price for that would be $123, we're offering it for $49.

Sorry for the confusion, I'll add a note in the promo copy as well!

The new subscription will begin when the old one expires. So, depending on when exactly you subscribed, you're looking at ~36 months.

G McGeachie Do you have to have your computer connected to the internet to use XMind? I deal with confidential information that I could not simply post online even if the access is restricted to those with access (there is still a risk there). Can I use XMind without connecting to the internet? ( I realize that an internet connection is required in order to register and perform administrative functions on my XMind ID etc.)
Feb 24 2010 at 7:29am Copy Link
0
stephen zhu @Gerry you have to be online at least one time. At that time, while launching XMind and signing in with your renewed account, please enable "Remember me on this computer". Then you have not to be online before your subscription expires.

H. H. Hallo,
I would have been interested in buying xmind pro, i it would be available as offline version. The necessarity of an online-connection is an absolute no-go for me - I often use my notebook without having the possibility to connect to the internet, and imaging, being working on an important project, but not being able to access my software because I don´t have access to the internet lets definetely decide me not to buy the software.
Perhaps you may think of an offline version too, since even when business people are traveling they often won´t be able to have a reliable internetconnection (e.g. long journeys with the train, even when internet is offered, the connection often is disrupted,..).
Apart from this, the idea of just hiring a software also increases the dependency of the user (what when the company does not exist any longer?). So even when an oflline version would be more expensive regarding to have to buy upgrades, I´d definetly prefer the offline version.. Apart from this the necessarity to connect to the internet may be difficult for people working on confidental projects.
IThank you for considering and a short response, if an offline version may be available in the future in advance
H.H.

Jonathan Keener Based on what I see on the policy tab, this is a lifetime license for the current major version (vs. the annual subscription model they offer on their site), but there will be a charge for major version upgrades. I'm curious about what the expected charges are for the major version upgrades too.

I did order it, however I haven't received my license yet. I just got an email from SWREG stating:

KEYCODE(S): We are out of keycodes for this product and need the vendor to supply additional codes. Please contact the vendor at salesxmind.net

I haven't emailed salesxmind.net yet, but probably will soon if I don't get any other emails.

Rick Przebienda I bought a copy earlier today (about 6 hrs ago) and still have not received a license key. I will give it until tomorrow, before I contact the support people.

The fact that Xmind Ltd is not monitoring this 'forum' during the event bodes ill for product support.

My SWREG receipt stated:

"You will receive an email from XMind ltd. In that email, there will be your XMind Subscription Code. Once you have any questions, please contact us without hesitation.

The e-mail I got says:

Hi Sir

Thank you for supporting XMind. Because of the differences license build process, we will send you the perpetual license of XMind Pro 2012 within 2,3 days after this promotion by hand one by one.

Thanks again for your support!

scribbly gum I too bought a copy (not my usual style ;) ) -- received Keys in an email from SWREG, but not able to unlock the application.

Have emailed support, but it's probably the weekend?

Not sure how big the company is, but I've had twitter dealings with them over my pre-purchase questions... I'm very hopeful that support will be ok.

I really like the programme too.

Rick Przebienda Dear BDJ,

This incident marks the first time since I started following your web site that I am completely not satisfied with the results of a transaction. I highly recommend that you drop this vendor from your site.

In my own mind, I will wait until close of business 9/10/2012, which is midnight, before lodging a complaint with the payment systems to the XMind Ltd Group.

Thank-you for listening to my complaint,

David Vaughan I read in the fine print, "XMind Pro 2012 is licensed per user..." and "Each license allows installation on 2 computers...", so is this offer for two user licenses and each user is allowed to install on two computers? Can I use one license and share the other with a family member or co-worker? Or, did I misunderstand? Thanks.
Apr 26 2013 at 3:30am Copy Link

Mark Johnson I have no use whatsoever for 2 licenses, but would be interested in a single license.
Also... I looked through the Xmind website and can find nothing about annual renewal pricing, but I do see postings talking about the '2-year license'. That makes me very cautious, as it gives the appearance that a license renewal is normally quite expensive.

So for me at least..... this offer isn't interesting at all, but make one on a single license and publish info about how much annual renewal licenses cost and it's likely I would purchase.

Doug Atkinson Xmind is a great tool; currently I'm using the free version but am looking to upgrade. I certainly don't need two licenses, though. I use iThoughts on my iPad (also highly recommended) and the two match up pretty well (iThoughts can export to Xmind format).

Bob McLain What a strange deal. Two licenses? Why not just offer a single license, and then the minority of people who want two licenses could just buy it twice. Can't fathom the reasoning...
Apr 26 2013 at 8:51am Copy Link

Chandig Single license + 2 yr upgrade is available for $99 + $39 = $138 on XMind web site, so for 2 licenses this is an outstanding deal.

I would also like to see a 1-user license offer. Just downloaded and installed the "free" version of this software, looks outstanding and is so simple to use.

bvssunnydale Yep, this is software I'd be seriously interested in actually paying for but that 2-license thing, even if it's a good deal - is just too bizaare. Who buys software like that? (no one I know). But, this is great software and one day I'll actually pay to upgrade it from the free version. I've mused MindManager and like it, but their support is god-awful and even rude, so it's hard to recommend.
