disenchanted Is there a version 3 coming anytime soon?

Or will we be in the version 2.x for a while yet?

Richard Butterworth Dang! That's top secret information :-)

We're still developing and making improvements to the current version, which includes lots of free updates right through to version 2.99.

Then we'll definitely be releasing version 3 of XSitePro in 2013 (you heard it here first!).

As an existing user, you'd be able to upgrade to version 3 at a significant discount.

Joseph Hyde I've noticed that X Site pro as well as other template based web site builder all have the same similar look.... all 'squares' and 'rectangles' no curves or clouds shapes or other options, templates that look racially different from each other.

Are their plans to change this?

Thanks..

disenchanted @Joseph,

Until XSP implements it into as future edition you can always transform almost any existing template.
Like they ones you can buy at templatemonster or such places.

You can use a template that you find/buy at a template site and transform it into an XSP template by "Slicing".

I looked for ways to make my site different than the others out there.
I came across a person who put together a pdf and video that covered the whole process. It was less than $10USD.

I don't know if it is okay to list a URL here or not, but you can google the phrase,

"60 Minutes of XsitePro Instructional Videos
For Creating Your Own XsitePro Templates
From Almost Any Website Template"

The person who created the slicing tutorial is scott parat.

Personally I thought the information provided on how to customize a template ,so it works with XSP, was well worth the small price of $9.75USD

There are also some youtube videos on "slicing" regular PSD file templates, to use with XSP.

Point being, if it doesn't exist yet in XSP but something you like DOES exists as a template that is for sale, you can buy the template and simply slice it to you liking.

Richard Butterworth @Joseph,

First things first, XSitePro definitely is NOT template based web design software. :-D

Sure, we've included lots of templates if you need some help getting started, but the software has the ability to do ANYTHING you want it to.

As well as the excellent suggestion @disenchanted mentioned (using the splicing of images to create yourself a new template), you can already add curves, cloud shapes or other options in XSitePro, absolutely anything you choose - the same as you can using Dreamweaver or any other web design software.

XSitePro uses HTML (as do other designers), and one of the knocks against HTML is that it can be blocky, resulting in designs that can be too squared off.

However, this doesn't mean your site has to be! :-)

The process of getting rounded corners and other rounded shapes using styles is actually really easy.

However, I do take your point Joseph, so we'll be changing this to make it even easier in the next update.

ron williams I'm interested in the program but I don't see that you offer a free trial of the program on your website unless i've missed it. Is there a way to test the program before purchase? I'm not a big fan of buy it and try it and then if I'm not satisfied having to go through the trouble of getting my money back no matter how easy you may say that process is.

Richard Butterworth I understand your feeling on this, but there is a real and specific reason that we operate in this fashion.
The reason is that as you try XSitePro you will need an amount of support. This support has a cost attached in the form of staff hours.
Now we are very happy spending the time helping you as long as you are serious about evaluation XSitePro.

If you are not sure you may want to have a look at the training videos that we have. These are very good at showing what XSitePro is all about and should give you enough information to decide if XSitePro is a solution for you or not.

We do offer a 30 day Risk Free Guarantee.
You can buy XSitePro, and at any time in the first 30 days you can request a refund for any reason, or for no reason at all. :)

You can see XSitePro in action by watching the training videos we have:

Steve McMahan There's a lot to like here even though there's a definite "Wordpress" feel to it. But let me ask: Can you lay graphics over graphics? ..Say.. a "Sold" sign on a graphic of a home?
Nov 15 2012 at 10:46am Copy Link

Ralph Bressler To overlap images you can use an image editor to, in your example, place the SOLD sign over the house. You can also use the relevant CSS to position the images.

Richard Butterworth When you are designing web pages you will find that there are two main styles of creating a web page. One is where you can place any object in any location, and the other is where you create the template look first and then come back ad add the web page content.

The first method where you can place anything anywhere is great if you are just creating a handful of pages. However if you are looking to create websites with 10, 20, 50, 100+ pages, then creating each page one at a time becomes impractical, specially if you need to make a site wide change.

As XSitePro is designed to create websites quickly, and still have great SEO, we have opted for the 2nd site design method. So this means that you design or load up a pre-created web page design, and then all you have to do is add your content in to the main section of the web page. The headers, footers, menus, and all have already been created for you.

For instance, if you take a look at Amazon, eBay, Walmart etc. they all use the same design and menu functionality on each page, it is only the content which changes.

So to answer your question, when you are creating web pages you see the main section of the page, and in that section you will have a WYSIWYG view. If you want to see the full page, there is a convenient ' Preview' button that displays the whole page as it will be seen on the internet.

Indusekar SK Does this effective at all with present updates by Google with Panda, Penguin and EMD affect that has changed the scenario as far as building website or wordpress sites are concerned.

How is XsitePro SEO friendly and what are the reasons that you can state it is more effective a website using xsitepro than any other html or wordpress sites.

Will there be any discount for upgrading to version 3 for the existing customers?

Ralph Bressler I have created a site using one of the premade templates and then changed to another without problems. I have also changed menu templates without changing the main template and, again, no problems. I have even altered the graphics and adjusted the template file accordingly. The adjustments were made within XSP. I have not attempted to create my own template from scratch but that should work the same way. XSP is very good at automatically adding pages to the menu system when you add them to your project.

A couple of other comments that may be helpful. I am using the program for non-commercial sites. I have always coded my sites from scratch with a text editor.

1) Some of the most powerful features of XSP involve monetizing sites and increasing hits through SEO. I may never get the full benefit of the program since I do not see myself doing this.
2) The menu system is convenient but a little limited. Other menu systems like AllWebMenus can easily be integrated but you will have to update them manually.
3) XSP tends to dump all your pages into the same folder by default. I like to organize things a little differently. The program limits the number of custom folders that can be created but that may change in the next version. The other option is to use an FTP program to create folders but this negates the reason for using XSP.
4) I copied over pages from a previous version of my site right from the browser. I was surprised that XSP did not just copy the text but everything else as well. This cut my time dramatically. Very nice.
5) The support has been UNSURPASSED. I have purchased many program and I can honestly say I have NEVER received the level of support that I have gotten on XSP. They have a good knowledge base, video tutorials, extra resources, and extensive manuals. ALL of my emails have been answered in under 24 hours in detail with no hint of condescension or frustration.

The bottom line is that I was hesitant to shell out this much for the program especially without a trial but I feel it was well worth it. XSP may not be for everybody but it has proven MUCH easier to use than any other template based program and I have tried six others!

VLM Ralph Bressler - You write: "The menu system is convenient but a little limited. Other menu systems like AllWebMenus can easily be integrated but you will have to update them manually."

Would you be willing to elaborate on what you perceive as limited in XSP? Thanks!

XSitePro - Ralph comments on organizing content in directories vs. dumping everything into a single directory. Like him, I prefer to organize content not only in directories, but even in multiple domains/directories. In other words, ours will be a multi-domain site. Would you be willing to comment on how XSP would handle such an approach or setup? Thanks!

Everyone - Intellimon's product line includes a learning product called "Complete Guide to Website Building". Has anyone here used this product enough to comment on its value, above and beyond the massive documentation that already comes with XSP?? Thanks to all!

Ralph Bressler The menu items in XSP are mostly directly linked to pages and subpages. You can link to external links but cannot have "blank" menu items with subitems underneath. Also, whether subitems open horizontally or vertically is controlled by the menu template you use. I found the style and color I wanted but then couldn't use it since it was only horizontal! I had to change templates. Programs like AllWebMenus offer much more versatility but, as a response from XSP pointed out, are more difficult to use. I set up an external menu but then decide, for now, to go with the built-in menus.

VLM Thank you Ralph, that's very helpful! I have lots of fancy ideas for creating menus, so I imagine I'll face a similar dilemma. Perhaps over time Intellimon will add a bit in this area.
