Petr This book is about "JavaScript" not Java. JavaScript is the most pervasive programming language in the world, running in every web browser and on most smart phones.

And, Java has a strong following in the enterprise for back-end, server-side systems. Not at all on the way out.

Lastly, you said, "why invest?"
