K H Unable to download as Try Before You Buy. Choosing that option takes me to the website where I can either purchase ZuluPad Pro for $15.00 OR download the current FREE Version.

J L Are all the future upgrades for free or only the version 1.0 ones?

Tom Gersic All updates are free.

Roger Thomasson @K H: Currently there is no trial version of ZuluPad Pro available. However, the free version of ZuluPad is an unrestricted, slightly pared down version and provides an excellent sense of what ZuluPad Pro is capable of.

What's more, ZuluPad Pro includes a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, so you can purchase without fear :-)

Here's a detailed list of what you get with ZuluPad Pro:

Jon Grewer Can ZulaPad generate HTML wikipages?

Feb 26 2009 at 8:48am Copy Link

Tom Gersic Yes, ZuluPad Pro does have an HTML export function. The entire document is loaded into one .html file to make it easy to use / transfer. Images are not included in the HTML document.

Alexander Deliyannis I just took advantage of the offer for myself, but I would also like to buy the program it as a gift for others. However, the process doesn't provide any way for entering another user's details (all details were taken directly from my PayPal account). Is there a way to buy ZP for a friend?

Tom Gersic Hi Alexander. Thanks for the purchase. There is not currently an automated way to send ZuluPad Pro as a gift, but if you'd like, you can purchase the app again, and respond to the auto-generated download instructions email with the name and email address that you would like to gift it to. I will change it in the system, and send out another download instructions email. Sound good?

Alexander Deliyannis Thanks! 2-3 additional purchases coming your way :-)

Bob S Single screenshot and brief description makes it difficult to evaluate this, but looks like it could be useful.

Curious how the linking works:
1. When I wish to create a hyperlink to a word, how is that done?
2. When that word is entered again, in a separate entry, is it automatically hyperlinked?
3. Can one search for all instances of hyperlinked words? If so, what does the resulting Search Results page look like? Is any surrounding text provided, so that one can identify the most relevant result(s)?

Oct 11 2009 at 5:34pm Copy Link

Frank Stephens Bob S, I have ZuluPad Pro,
1. If the text caret is on or just after the word, you can use Ctrl-L or the Link button. To use a phrase as a link, select (highlight) it first.
2. Yes, it's not case-sensitive, and it works for phrases.
3. Yes, go to the page (link), and under the Page menu, use Pages Linking to this Page. You just get a list of other pages (links), but they're active, so you can examine them and go back (ZuluPad creates a search results page).

There are some bugs. HTML export erroneously links words beginning with link names. ZuluPad may save the temporary search results pages, but you can manually delete them.

The best way to evaluate software here is to use the trial version, which in this case is the free version of ZuluPad (not Pro). Here's the ZuluPad Help page:

Guy Simmons An earlier comment says all updates are free, the site says "As updates to ZuluPad Pro 1.0 come out, you'll be able to download the upgrades for free" which means only those for the v1.0 line are free.

Tom Gersic As the author of this app, I've said here that _all_ updates are free, and I stand by that.

Gersic.com - Oct 12 2009 at 3:14am Copy Link

Steve S Is this app per chance portable, meaning it can be run from a USB stick without leaving any system changes or registry entries on the host PC?

Oct 12 2009 at 3:23am Copy Link

Tom Gersic It is portable. It tries to write info to the registry, but if it isn't possible due to security restrictions, it will fail silently.

Rich Hamper The current version of VIPRE (Sunbelt Software) says this is a known malware product and quarantines the main executable. Perhaps Sunbelt needs to be contacted if this is not truly malware.

I would have bought this product, I suspect, but it looks like I'll be missing this deal until I learn--for sure--that it's not trouble in disguise.

Rich Hamper I did some more digging.

VIPRE is pointing to what it thinks is an "Admedia" browser plug-in.

Here's what VIPRE says:

Description: A Browser Plug-in is a software module that is attached to the browser, usually Internet Explorer, and that works within the browser to provide additional functionality. Browser Plug-ins may be installed with adware and used to display advertising as well as redirect the browser to alternate sites and alternate search results. Many Browser Plug-ins also monitor user web surfing and search data to facilitate targeted, contextual advertising. A toolbar is one type of Browser Plug-in.

Advice: This is an elevated risk and should be removed or quarantined as it may compromise your privacy and security, make unwanted changes to your computer's settings, and negatively impact your computer's performance and stability.

SO . . . this looks like a generic reaction to any browser plug-in situation, rather than "ZuluPad Pro" is truly malware.

I will take the executable out of quarantine and run it with appropriate safeguards on my machine; but I don't expect any real trouble here. If I detect anything truly awry, I will report back here immediately.

Tom Gersic Rich,

It's a false positive. Neither ZuluPad nor ZuluPad Pro have any browser plugins or any other malware. ZuluPad specifically has been evaluated by third parties as being free from malware. Their certifications are available here: http://zulupad.gersic.com/download.html

Tom Colvin I'm really intrigued by the description of this program. However, I cannot figure how to download the PRO version.

When I click on the DOWNLOAD button at Bits du Jour, I'm taken to the download page for the product. But the only links to download are listed under FREE. I'm assuming these are the free, stripped down versions, not the PRO version. So how do I download the PRO version?

Oct 12 2009 at 3:21pm Copy Link

Tom Gersic Tom,

Click "Buy Now".

Gersic.com - Oct 12 2009 at 3:45pm Copy Link

Tom Colvin Thanks, Tom. Bought it [hey, how can I refuse at that very reasonable price] -- and look forward to getting the download instructions.

I've tried several wiki programs before and have always deleted them. Just too much hassle in managing them. Your program sounds like it really hits a "sweet spot." If I like it, I'll recommend it on my blog for writers.

By the way, your website is quite unusual and intriguing. I also downloaded your free ambient sound generator, which I look forward to installing later today.
