Paul joubert @Bitsdujour.

I DON'T do FaceBook. If I wish to take up the above offer, you are making the down load conditional to me joining FB and ticking two "I Like" buttons one for FB & the other for the product (before I have even tried it).
I this is the way forward for BDJ I wish you the best of good fortune, but for this reason I'm OUT !

PS.(rather bring back the 12 pathetic questions rating a product one hasn't even downloaded yet)

Dennis Johnson Sorry if I seem dense. But Marco Pivetta asked 2 questions. "[1 year] - this is the period of the licence? And after that the software remains functional or the updates/upgrades will not be allowed?"

SharpNight LLC answered 1 question. "@Marco, yes the software will remain functional for 1 year."

So it ceases to function after the one year, period? That's it? End of story? 1 year after installation, the software will no longer work at all?
May 11 2013 at 9:57am Copy Link
1
front360 I'm also waiting for a response to Marco/Dennis Johnson's question...

Also, I see that I have 12 months to install/register your product. If I install in 11 months from today, then do I only get to use 7-Data Recovery Suite for 1 month or do I get to use the full registered version for 12 months after the day I install/register?
May 11 2013 at 10:52am Copy Link

Terry Lee It keep registered Only.. 1 year??? :( Am Iright o.k.?
It stop working after 12 month?

Loco Driver LOL - Given the current price (FREE) I don't think I'd cry too much if it does stop working one year after installation.

But I also like Danny Thys' question about getting a discount coupon some day, either for a new annual licence or, maybe, for the Pro version????
May 11 2013 at 2:52pm Copy Link

N. Rogers I downloaded and immediately installed 7-Data Recovery Suite on the day it was offered free of charge. Then I opened the program and immediately got a message saying the free version would only recover 1gb of data. I tried several times to register the program by carefully inputting and double-checking the user name and registration code that BitsDuJour emailed to me, but each time I tried, I received an error message saying that the name or code was invalid. What's wrong?

John Terdik I never saw an answer to my question but I did find a solution "GetDataBack for NTFS" at http://www.runtime.org/da...oducts.htm It was more expensive ($79) but the license does not expire and more importantly I was able to recover the data from my damaged RAID 5. Thus for me it was a super good experience. I have been looking for a solution for three weeks.

ricoh flex I had a previous version of this in October 2013 with a 1 year license. Now about 9 months later, it is offered again as a 1 year license. So it kind of overlaps but you have to be vigilant to catch the 1 day offer.

Of course I prefer to have all software without time-based license.

Bob Horton I see that the one year license is normally $39.95 and the lifetime license is $49.95. Can we pay $10 and get the lifetime license? Seems we should be able to pay the difference. I don't need the pro features (primarily server support), but I'd like to have the lifetime license, which they apparently value at $10.

Lee H Took too long for my post to appear and a response to be received. By the time that was done the promotion was over. It irks me when we cannot get a timely response to our posts and questions. Opportunity lost for a potential sale!

Bob Horton I agree Lee. BDJ used to require their vendors to do better than this. Of course, they also never included offers that required immediate installation, either, and that appears to no longer be the case. I'd hate for this site to deteriorate to the level of so many of the giveaway sites. In this particular case, they lost a sale from me, but I'm not so sure that the vendor cares. Of course, if it takes the moderator two more days to clear a comment from me, who has posted here for as long as I've been buying from here, which has to be ten years, ....

Bill User Fast and efficient follow up so thank you! I also contacted them. I had this installed from July I realized so perhaps it used that registration and it is already registered. When I went from a free trial to purchasing "GoodSync"(same company as Roboform), a similar issue happened as it used my free trial start date instead the purchase date thus effectively removing a 3 month update period.

They said it was "impossible" to change and their service was quite poor although has been good over the years for Roboform.

mix624 Hi,

I just bought a new computer because "Windows isnt responding" error message.
It meant that I could start the computer up, get to the Desktop and look at all the icons but the screen just froze. Sometimes it was even possible to startup my anti spyware software but it froze while it tried to scan and I got the same message again.

It is possible to startup in failsafe mode and I can open folders etc but I cant transfer any files using the usb. I can even surf the internet in failsafe mode.

Could I get this software from my new computer and boot it on my old ?

Petronius Arbiter II Mix624: If you have a Windows installation that will boot up in Safe Mode but not in Regular Mode, that is probably the result of a virus or something else that corrupted the registry. Try running an Advanced Google Search ( http://www.google.com/advanced_search ) on the exact phrase "Stuck in Safe Mode" and look for information relevant to your specific Windows version.

You CAN do a manual registry fix by running Regedit in Safe Mode-- at least in Windows XP, don't know about the later Windows versions. It's pretty tricky and you want to be sure and back up your (dysfunctional) registry before you start. If you've never done a manual registry fix before, I strongly recommend getting help from somebody who knows more, and who can maybe help you translate all the geekspeak into plain English.

I don't know why you can't transfer to a USB drive using your corrupted Windows, that would probably mean the USB drivers are corrupted. SO: as painful as it sounds, you would probably be well advised to restore your most recent backup from before you had the problem, or even reinstall Windows and all your programs if it comes to that.

Either way, a recovery program like 7-Data MAY be able to help you recover data from your dysfunctional drive, but is probably not necessary because the data you would want to recover is not deleted or corrupted, it's just inaccessible in Regular Mode. (An exception would be if the virus or whatever hosed your previous Restore Points, as viruses often do; then you would need a recovery program such as this one.)

What you want to do (if a manual registry fix is not possible, or doesn't help) is get a USB enclosure that fits the hard drive from your OLD computer, hook that up to your NEW computer, and use the new computer to retrieve whatever you want from the old computer. If you install a recovery program such as 7Data, you install it on the NEW computer. You can't use 7Data from the same drive as you want to recover from, it says so right in the installation instructions.

I know I've used a lot of geekspeak of my own here, but I hope this can help you. "Stuck in Safe Mode" is a hell of a condition to get in, which is why I don't trust CNet much any more, 'cause it was their webpage that led me to the file that started this problem on my last computer. (See also https://www.youtube.com/w...9Z4Lp-_dfs for a hint of just how much time I spent working on this.)

bsr007 I read on the 7-Data Recovery Suite Blog that there is a portable version of the software. Is this available for the Pro version on offer here? Can this be used without installing the software on a PC first? Thanks for your help.

Yes, there was a portable version, however we have stopping updating it. So we suggest you use the none-portable version. Thanks.

Robert Crombie For those looking for comparison guide -
https://7datarecoverysoft...e/#compare

That comparison page says the cheaper versions are only for one computer.
We don't want to be installing this into the drive that may fail.
Shirley (Surely) we want a program that can run from a bootable CD or Thumb drive ?

I asked a question on Mar 11 2017.
It was the last question on the page of older comments.
The question has not been answered
( I asked can this software see drives/partitions that windows cannot 'see' ? )
