When it comes to launching websites, we all know that the first and best place to start is with the selection of a snappy domain name. But, just like vanity license plates, all of the best ones are already taken. What's a web administrator to do? You could settle for domain names that are available, and hope that your potential customers figure out what you're peddling - or you could contact the owners of existing domain names and see if they're interested in selling their domains to you, or wait for a hot domain name's registration to expire, and jump in and grab it.

But researching contact and expiration info for domains takes a long time, right? Wrong! Not with the right tool. Not with Atomic Whois Explorer!

Finding contact and expiration info for domain names is easy with Atomic Whois Explorer - just paste domain names into the application and hit 'Start'. Within moments, Atomic Whois Explorer gives you all the dirt you need, including the administrative contact information and the date that the domain registration expires. If you have a lot of domain names to research, you'll be happy to know that Atomic Whois Explorer can process several hundred domains a minute, and the results can be easily saved off to a file, the clipboard, an Excel spreadsheet, or a Word document.

Stop wasting time manually searching for domain name information! Use Atomic Whois Explorer, and put your domain name acquisition efforts on the fast track!

A Concerned BdJ User Hummm...$29.91US (BdJ discounted price, $49.85US regular price) for a program to get info that a standard, *free*, WHOIS inquiry will get. Maybe.

One of the main features of this program is getting contact info for a domain name. People should be aware that some countries (Canada for one) have enacted privacy legislation that *prohibits* the display of contact information in WHOIS inquiries. So, if you were to check a .CA domain name, all you would find out is: that it exists, when it was first registered, the current expiry date, who the registrar is and the registrar's name servers...but no info about who owns it or how to contact them. Thus, the program has limited use with non-US domain names. Also, not all traditionally-US domain names (.COM for example) are US-based...many are based in other countries and so contact info may not be available for them either (for instance, those located in Canada).

As to the program's ability to "process several hundred domains a minute", people should also be aware that most organizations with a WHOIS database (certainly Network Solutions in the US and CIRA in Canada) strictly prohibit the use of automated tools such as this program for doing mass WHOIS inquiries. Thus, those using this program *may* find themselves exposed to nasty legal ramifications.

Buyer Beware.

Kevin P Yeah. Especially considering the price, this really is a bit of a joke.

Bob McLain WhoisThisDomain from well-known developer Nir Sofer does pretty much the same thing, and it's free (not to mention fast and featherweight):

I use it often. Never a problem.

Bob McLain I use WhoisThisDomain to determine the availability of specific domains and so I've never typed in more than five or six domain names at once (usually variations of a single name).

You can, however, type in as many names as you want and the software will return that many results.
