- “I do real estate acquisitions in major university markets across the country. For years I have used interactive city and county websites to determine land ownership and infrastructure to locate sites for the development of student housing projects. Unfortunately, these web sites are usually slow, frequently unresponsive, and sometimes completely unavailable. So I started acquiring the data from the local governments for viewing and analyzing myself using various desktop GIS programs. I was just about to the point of giving up on finding a GIS program that an average non programmer could use. I had tried several of the "big name" programs that sell for thousands of dollars and, each time, had to give up my efforts to learn the program after many hours. These programs were just too "unintuitive". Each time I acquired aerial photos, the files were in a format that the program I was trying to use wouldn't read. After I downloaded the trial AvisMap Deskpro, I was able to make substantial progress within a couple of hours. The AvisMap Deskpro opened every file that I had downloaded without problems. It is very intuitive and easy for a nonprogrammer to use. I was so pleased with the trial version that I purchased the commercial product version within a couple of days - well before the trial period was over. I have continued to have success manipulating GIS files with the AvisMap Deskpro and each new version that AvisMap releases has more enhancements that continue to make my task easier. Thank you AvisMap. Please keep it up.”- Jack Hendrix
- “Just wanted to send you an e-mail in support of your initiative. GIS is too complicated. Anything that helps simplify the technology will improve it's acceptance. AvisMap provides a vision statement for a more elegant, simple solution.”- Dave Hoskins
- “You folks at AvisMap may not get enough praise between providing support for us end users, so here's some! We've been using the AvisMap GIS Engine going on three years now and have recently added the Spatial Database connectivity too. If it weren't for the Engine's ability to connect and interact with such a variety of different data types, many of our clients would never even see a GIS application. Once we provide them with even a small custom viewer, they start asking for more. Many of them scale up to enterprise databases, but of course we still have several that just require shapefiles or personal databases. I found myself today developing two completely different data type applications; one connecting to an SDE Server and one to a ESRI Personal Geodatabase, and earlier today I was supporting an application I built two years ago using AvisMap's data storage on a MySQL server! Keep up the excellent work!”- Eric Meadows
- “We selected the AvisMap GIS Engine for a GIS software application being developed under direct contract with the Land Forces (Army) element of the Canadian Forces (CF). We had previously developed a prototype application for placing safety templates on digital maps using ArcView 3.2a, but found the cost of user licenses to be impractical considering the demand for deployment across the army. The Land Forces considered using the MapObjects (ActiveX) component with Delphi, but found MapObjects to lack certain functionality and involve license restrictions that could hinder distribution. The final decision to opt for the AvisMap GIS Engine was based on favorable results from an initial AvisMap GIS Engine-based prototype and on the prompt and helpful insight into difficult features provided by the AvisMap support center. Because there are no AvisMap license restrictions in desktop deployment situations, the cost of distribution across the army will be negligible.”- Sean Moran
- “After working so much with your SDK, I have to say again that I think it is by far the most flexible and robust GIS component that I have used. Great work!”- Rob Martinson
- “So far I think I have done well with AvisMap GIS Engine. I am doing things with it that CartoVCL never dreamed of. I really like the Engine OnPaint features. A special note on data handling, I have tied the shapefiles records into data tables made with DBISAM, an embedded database engine. What is really nice is to query the data table via the OnPaint and have only the result appear as symbols using the OnPaint feature. Would you believe it took me two days using Map Object to build a class for this? With Raize button and AvisMap GIS Engine it took me 5 minutes! I plan to send you the code - all five lines. I look forward to continuing my learning process with AvisMap GIS Engine.”- Chris Conklin
