Sure, you're quite diligent about backing up your critical data at home, but what about your website? Do you just naturally presume that your hosting provider has a reliable backup strategy, one that can successfully restore your site's files in mere moments? Do you have a backup-backup plan in case your provider isn't up to the task, or even worse, just gives up completely and goes dark? The best way to ensure that your operations won't be blown out of the water by a server or database failure is to back it up to your own computer and/or your own cloud-based storage account. First step -- get a copy of today's discount software promotion, BackupSF Pro!

BackupSF Pro lets you back up critical website files and databases to non-host locations, enabling quick recovery in the event of the host's server failure, infection, or corruption. Hosting providers have been known to lose entire hard drives, taking not only their hosted sites, but also all recent backups, down to never-never land. Worst of all, your site can suffer malware infection that turns it into a spambot server - and unless the host server's backup is clean, all is lost! With BackupSF Pro, your website is safely backed up on a local drive, or, even better, a cloud-based folder such as Dropbox. Just upload the files and database back to your host's server, and you're back in business!

BackupSF Pro uses FTP to backup files and PHP scripts to backup MySql to ensure that everything about your site is safe and secure, which also makes restoring your site quick and easy using any FTP client and database import tools. Think about the degree of permanent damage to your reputation and revenue stream you would suffer if your site were down for an extended time, then think of how happy and joyous you'll be when you remember your BackupSF Pro backup! It's a no-brainer and a must-buy!

If it is the PRO version ($39), then why does it say RETAIL $25.50 up above?

Michael Johnsson So now you have found your way here instead? This program has previously been featured on GOTD a few times. All these times it did not work. Could be fun to see if it works in this round.

Dennis Johnson What a cool concept! As someone who's lost way too many sites, I'm very excited about putting BackupSF through the paces.

Backing up to my own PC sounds like a marvelous idea.

*fingers crossed

Thanks for the offer!!!

Greg Zavado From help:

"You need to upload the backup script once many databases under one hosting-provider account. Back to Step 4 to add more database."

What kind of script is it?
Nov 12 2012 at 6:08am Copy Link

Dmitry Goncharenko This script required for DB backup.

You can find and review it code at \Program FIles\BackupSF\Scripts\export.php (If you install the software to the default folder.)

VLM Dmitry Goncharenko - Question for you ... Suppose I:

1. Back up my ftp site to my local machine.
2. Edit the backup copy on my local machine. For example, move things around, rename things.

Can I then use BackupSF to simply replace the "old" site (the one still on the server) with the "new" site (the one I've edited locally)? (And of course I realize that I would have to change links in some manner.)

Thanks!

Dmitry Goncharenko This is cold - "restore website" and we are working on it to be present at next version (in max 2 month).

It will be used to restore backup, not for uploading of the copy after editing.

Common practice is using of the FileZilla or Total Commander to upload website after editing.

David Kocur Hi Dmitry,

My web host doesn't allow plain FTP connections. They must be FTPS. Do you know when your product will support FTPS?

Thanks!

Ralph Bressler The price shown is NOT for the Pro version as mentioned above and I see it was never "corrected". When you press the "Buy Now" button the Pro version is at a higher price. This is a very questionable practice. I downloaded the software and ran it. It stopped on a file saying it could not be found yet it WAS there. The backup would never complete. After 12 hours of sending an e-mail to the vendor I sent another and still await their reply. Seems this company has several issues to address. No timeline was given for the "completely rewritten" version. I hope when they rewrite it they write it so it works this time.

Michael Johnsson Yeah I know, I was told by Roger T. To NOT use comment section, but mail the developers. Thats today 8 days ago. Still no reply, and still no working software. In a way it feels like BitsDuJour silenced it all for better ads. BitsDuJour can say what ever they like about that, but it sorta cast a shadow over them.

Ralph Bressler Meanwhile, whilst I await a reply by the vendor to my two emails and comment here, does anyone know of a reasonably priced website backup program. I know I can use a copy program or FTP but I want something that can be scheduled without too many problems.

Well it has not been easy to find those with time but, you got two options that I know. If scheduled is importent try http://myrepono.com/. Its a paid service, but, it is not all that costy. If scheduled is not so importent, then I just recently came across http://opendynamo.org/. It is a free service. Quite Good to, it is like myrepono without the fees and without scheduled options.

Unfortunately we can't provide support for free users downloaded BackupSF during Bitsdujour 100% free promotion.

Regarding price - it is a mistake. Bitsdujour need to improve this.

Regarding new version: we are working on it right now, but not ready to inform you about exact release date. In the next version we want to avoid any problem with ftp like in Ralph's case, and need some time for this.

As I sated in my e-mail, the first problem was that I never GOT the code to install the program properly. You did not address this issue.

So you are saying that you do not feel it is your responsibility to provide a working program when you give it away free! If I buy the program and can't get it to work, would you them feel obligated to help me? How can I have any confidence in your company with this attitude? I am glad you made it clear that you do not care about customer support BEFORE I spent time trying to solve your problems with the program and get it to work. It is a shame since I think the program has potential. By the way SiteVault is working just fine and I think I will be giving them my business.

Dmitry Goncharenko Why you did not report about problem with key to Bitsdujour immediately during the day of promotions?

BackupSF working properly in the most of the cases. Sometimes software do not work, this can happens with this kind of software because it communicated with many different type of web servers. If it's not working in your case - just use another software, we can't help you. There is one week of trial period to check.

We know this problem and it will be solved in the next version, that takes time. If you need to backup you website right now - use another solution.

Ralph Bressler I was busy at the time of the download and the key, as I recall, did appear on the screen so I just assumed I would get an e-mail. This is my fault and is not so much the issue right now. The issue is that your program will not work. I am prepared to pay money to buy it but you don't seem to want me as a paying customer. Encouraging me to buy a working program seems very "honest" of you but is a bad business practice. Helping potential customers to solve presales problems seems like a better way to attract loyal users!

I set a new profile without the offending folder and it seems to be running flawlessly. I like your program as it produces simple zip files while others use a proprietary format.

You mentioned a new version to correct the second problem I mentioned. Have you set a goal for the date of this release? Not being able to choose files AND subfolders is a real annoyance.

Dmitry Goncharenko As I already told - this problem will be solved in the next version, this the most honest (without the quotes) approach. We can't solve this problem right now because we are not improving old version, we are working on 100% re-writing of the new.

Approximate date of the release - Jan 2012

Anyway - thank you for noting about selection of files, we must add this.
Please check your mailbox.

Michael Johnsson I take it they work a bit hard with the software right now.
"Approximate date of the release - Jan 2012"

I think it might be safer to say 1Q 2013, we got x-mas around the corner and new years and other hollidays.

This new rewrite sounds intressting, need beta testers?

Dennis Johnson Thanks, Constantin. It doesn't explain why backupsf-supporteasysector.com doesn't respond.

In my experience, when a vendor doesn't respond, they have no plans to maintain their product.

I'm a Bitster for life though! You can't possibly see into the future. But if you can, I have a few questions. :)
