Henrik Safegaard I miss the option to have different links in eash pichture/slide so i could have severel diffents target sites.
That means that i have to create more banners and how does one then get them to go after eash othere in the same place on a website instead of the same one looping ???

It seems to work fine but its to limitated for the price, ewen with the discount i think. Or am i missing some thing here?

Alain Bocherens The interface is very similar, but the goal is not the same: with slide effect you create presentations and with banner effect you create full flash animation.

Alain Bocherens Kind of, but the idea behind banner effect is to create small flash files that fit well with web development. Slide effect creates full featured presentations, but the cost is the file size and the file format not well adapted for small banners.

Rich OBrien Tried the Banner Effect Trial. I have thousands of fonts, but Banner Effect's font list allows a choice of only 7 fonts. The font list should display a WYSIWYG preview showing exactly how each font appears. Text can be proportionally resized but it should be possible to stretch text to make it wider or taller. The color of Text can be changed but Text cannot be colored with a gradient fill or pattern. Banner Effect has some impressive features but many more features need to be added or improved.

Alain Bocherens Yes you are perfectly right about missing gradients and so on. Banner effect will be improved in the future. About fonts number, in the full version you can import all the fonts available on your system.

Alain Bocherens Do you have a Flash plugin installed? Banner Effect generates Flash banners, so it needs the Flash plugin.

Let me start by saying I'm a die hard slide effect pro user. Great tool and great support from devsoft (you). Devsoft is a good company in my opinion.

So I was wondering why I have small doubts about banner effects. The trial works great as expected, but in my opinion there are not many effects and transitions or do I overlook some functions? I would like to see more pre-designed banners, some animated and static backgrounds, more transition and text effects, animated effects and overlays, buttons, shadows, blurs et cetera. You know what I mean.

I know banner effect was only released some 15 months ago, but will there be more goodies in banner effect in the future? Please correct me if I overlooked a lot of features!

In short I agree with you. But let's complete a little bit :) ...

When we released Banner Effect, the idea was to create a tool to create very small Flash banners to be used on advertising channels like Google Adwords.

To be able to do that we reduced the features to create very small flash files as used in advertisement (usually limited to 50kb)

That's why the feature set is a bit limited in the actual version.

After some month, we realized it was used for ads, but a big part of our customers were using Banner Effect as a quick way to create flash animations for their website, but not related to advertising.

So we started to work on the next major version of Banner Effect with that in mind.

Main features of this new version:
- Able to create Flash and HTML5 banners.
- Much more effects for text/images (outline,shadow, reflexion, more start/end/anim effects)
- More transition effects.
- New background effects.
- Unicode support (to be able to type any type of characters (like Arabic or Chinese).
- Possibility to add click target to objects (to be able to create a menu for instance, or to navigate through the slides of the banner - to create an interactive banner)

So, yes, Banner Effect will evolve to something more complete. We are working on the new version since quite a few months and it should be a major overhaul of the program.

To answer future question, the upgrade to the new version will be free for every customers who purchased Banner Effect less than one year before the upgrade.

I won't give a precise release date, as schedule may slip, but it is actually planned for mid February.

How do you feel it compares with what Aurora has with their "3D Animation Maker", which has also been offered here on BDJ in the past. Alain Bocherens Well, "3D Animation Maker" is not the same kind of software than Banner Effect.

Their software purpose is to create complex 3D animations and then create movie from these animations. As far as I understand it won't create native Flash objects, but movies embedded in a Flash object.

Banner Effect's goal is to create small sized Flash banners in a easy way.

It generates native Flash objects. It means the banners generated with BE will be much smaller and more adaptable to a website.

I don't say "3D Animation Maker" is a bad product, but it is more aimed to 3D animation movie creation than web banners.

But, yes I can summarize the new features, but it is subject to change:

- Banners will be generated in Flash and HTML5.
- Texts will support gradient, shadow, outline and reflexion.
- 35 start/end effects (including particles effects)
- 12 animation effects
- start/end/anim effects will be configurable (time, amplitude, color,...)
- 12 slides transition effects
- Background effects will be added (probably particles effects, but it is not finished yet, so I cannot give more details on that particular part)
- Possibility to assign an URL to every objects on the slide.
- Possibility to assign a slide destination to every objects on the slide (to navigate through the banner)
- Unicode support for texts (to be able to type Chinese/Hebrew/...)
- Help will be rewritten
- German translation will be added
- Opacity of objects can be changed.

This will be the main new features of BE 1.2.0.

HJ B As I understand it, if a visitor to a website does not have the flash plug in installed, there is a way to automatically provide that visitor with an alternative image. Does Banner Effect provide the means to do that? Can you explain how that process works?

1, It seems that font size can only be modified by shrinking the window in which the text appears. Is that correct?

2. Can font attributes, such as size, bold, ital, etc be modified within a word or sentence?

3. Can animated graphics be inserted into the swf. What format must the graphic be?

4. As I understand it, the major revision that you describe in prior responses will be free to those who purchase this present version. is that correct?

5. Are their any dimension, duration or content limitations to this product? By dimension I mean size of banner window; by duration I mean the overall duration of play, by content I mean bytes of text or graphics or type of graphic.

2. No. In the new version you'll be able to set more attributes (bold/italic/underline) but only for the whole sentence.

Stephen Kreyling Bought a copy and when I went to get an account, I got the following error. The email came through and I did setup and account, but you may want to check your system. Forgot to login, so it does not show on here I purchased, but I did.

Alain Bocherens The plugin uses either free/standard or pro version of Banner Effect.

ie: If you use the free version of Banner Effect with the plugin, you will have free features, and if you use the Pro version of Banner Effect with the plugin, you will have pro features.

The plugin is just a tool available to make work with Wordpress site easier.

So yes, it is possible to buy this deal and get FULL functionality for wordpress, sure.

Christian User When one leaves the application (banner effect trial version), the BannerEffectTrial.exe process remains in memory and provoke a mistake in closing Windows system (Windows 7 SP1, 32 bits).
Is this bug corrected in the definitive version pro?

Christian User After new tests he/it seems that the problem occurs when one asked for a prévisualisation and even though one came correctly out of this prévisualisation by the "close" button....
I am going to buy the software all the same because I am sure that you are going to provide a corrective patch quickly!

I am testing your software now and wonder if there is a way to keep the text I am writing inside the banner area ? I set a custom banner size 400x390 and want to provide payment details within the banner. I pasted the text into the tiny text editor.

When I start writing the text is very wide outside the banner. And also, when I change line in the tiny text editor the text still goes horizontal ?

I now noticed that if I rewrite everything into the tiny, tiny text editor I can control line by line (or one sentence at a time). For the next line it is best to create a new text element.

I guess this is because this is a graphical tool and not made to make info boxes with text etc. But I can still use it to create info boxes, nice internal linking boxes etc...?

Alain Bocherens You can write multi-line texts just by pressing Return to start a new line.

I know the tiny editor is a bit... tiny. This is something I want to improve. But as you said, if you have really long text, you can use a text editor and copy paste directly in Banner Effect.

Regarding the point 2, sorry I am not sure I understand the issue.

Are you using the Mac or the Windows version? User interface is not exactly the same...

When I paste text into the text editor it is NOT possible to change the width of
the text area. It is fixed ! It is much wider than the banner I have setup. There is no way to change the width. The ONLY solution is to rewrite it all from the beginning.

In fact, you can simply add "returns" on the pasted text to make the lines shorter, no need to rewrite everything.

The text area is computed from the length of the text, the software does not add additional line breaks to make the text fit in the area.. If you write a long text in a single line without any line breaks, it will be displayed in one line in Banner Effect.

1. Not to my knowledge. If you generate a banner using the Flash and HTML5 export it should work almost everywhere (HTML5 on any modern device and Flash on older setup).

2. It works perfectly.

3. Well, email clients are often picky regarding scripts and/or flash. The best for email embedding is to generate an animated GIF version of the banner (using menu "File/Create an animated GIF banner... "). This way it should be displayed properly on emails.

It will work if you insert the code directly in a drupal node. (our website is using drupal, you can check)

If you want to insert the carousel directly in an article, no problem.

If you want to add the banner for example in the header/footer (in any other place than where the article is displayed) you will have to edit the template code, as I don't provide drupal plugin.

I choosed transparent background because I just want the text slider to be on the website background. BUT when I preview there is a black background ?? Is that background only for the preview or what ? Just a bit unclear...

I miss setting the buttons color with Hex code instead. There is only the standard colors. It would be nice to be able to choose transparent button background OR possibility to link the word/words in the banner text...

I dont really want the buttons to link, I would prefer text.

Alain Bocherens 1. Yes the black background is only for preview. If you use the HTML5 preview, you can choose the preview background color.

2. Yes, just select any text/button/image on the banner and, on the properties, under "Click target" set the URL you want to open. More info here: http://www.banner-effect....banner.htm

3. You can make a link with any object, buttons or anything else.

4. Yes sure, just select the transparent background with no border.

5. Regarding Wordpress: to keep things simple, the wordpress plugin looks to our server for the available banners. So you have to upload banners to our server with Banner Effect... Then the plugin will retrieve it and will copy all necessary files to your server: Then the banner will be displayed from your site without any link to us.

5b. The Wordpress plugin is aimed to replace the header, but you can replace any in your template. If you want to simply add a banner in one of your article, you don't need the plugin: just create the banner, copy it using FTP and copy/paste HTML code inside the article.
