It's amazing how much time we spend maintaining things that are supposed to save us time. It's a lot like shopping to save money - it makes more sense if we don't look too close.
Take internet bookmarks, for example. We know they're supposed to save us time, but we seem to end up spending a lot of that time we've saved maintaining them. Whether we're using a different browser, or another PC, somehow the bookmarks we want never seem to be where we want them.
And even if we finally take the time to combine our bookmarks (and weed out the dead ones), they don't stay combined. As soon as we add a few more bookmarks to one PC or browser, the other one's out of date again.
