Bertie Brummel Your web site says: "lifetime free updates $ 6,95"

Do you really mean free updates (only) or are you talking about _upgrades_ ?

adriene User you write:
Every text you ever copy to your clipboard can be stored away for future use.

however your website says: With Clipboard History, a Windows Clipboard manager, you can access up to twenty texts

that's a big difference so I wonder what is it every or 20?

Thomas Reimann @Bertie Updates and upgrades sound the same to me. I understand it as installing a newer version.

@adriene As Bertie correctly pointed out, the freeware version has some limits, which the Pro version does not.

" Updates and upgrades sound the same to me. I understand it as installing a newer version".

I'm pretty sure, the vast majority of software vendors make a big difference between "updates" = minor changes within the same version# and
"upgrades" = major changes released under a new version# .

But it's nice to hear Outertech has a more user friendly policy and I'll keep your statement in mind. :-)

VLM If we upgrade to a lifetime license and then add priority support, for what period of time does the priority support endure?
Jun 28 2015 at 12:07pm Copy Link

Thomas Reimann Priority support is for 2 years, and can be renewed. The option was added due to requests of several business customers who wanted a guaranteed response within 24 hours.

Lifetime means really lifetime @ Outertech. We have customers who have purchased our products more than 10 years ago with the lifetime updates option, and they still get new versions for free.

Peter Dr Hi Outertech people:

As far as I can see, all clipboard date is saved in text-only format. I need to be able to re-use rtf test, as well as images.

Is this possible in Clipboard History? If so, how do I recognize which items in the list can be pasted as rtf or image formats?

Thank you
Jun 28 2015 at 1:10pm Copy Link
0
Thomas Reimann Peter, RTF format is on to do list for v3.1. We had it already in Beta 1 of v3.0 for testing purposes. It was removed due to high memory constraints in the archive. The text "red" as plain text uses 3 bytes of memory. The text "red", in red color as rtf uses 30000 bytes of memory (if created with MS word). So we have decided it makes no sense without implementing some very fancy compression algorithm, which will be done in 3.1. Image support if planned for 3.5.

Danny @Thomas Reimann,

My best friend, then make no mistake you! At the previous BDJ promotion Deal I have purchased Cacheman and Linkman licences, that option was there when not!

So if I lost my license code, but can prove with payment order, it is not a new license code to obtain free?
Jun 28 2015 at 2:09pm Copy Link
0
Thomas Reimann @Danny It depends whether you have access to the email account that was used for the purchase. Then we can resend the license within 2 years of purchase. With no email access, we need to do an identity check which does cost a lot of time, and this is done only with the option we are talking about.

Amit @Thomas I would highly say about 1 more feature - that the clipboard CLIP saved in the software's database saves these 2 also -
1. The url of the webpage, if the clipboard content was recieved from a webpage in a browser (chrome, firefox etc).
2. And that in the software's database, it also saves the title of the window from which the data was copied. This title will be the title of webpage in browser, if the clip was copied from a browser, but it would be just, say Explorer/anyother application name, if the copied text was from a explorer window/anyother application.
The url storing of the clip is absolutely important for surfers, and please surely add this feature, even if title storing can be added to the software in a little later version, which still is a nice feature.
Most clipboard softwares have these 2 features already.
And thanks again for adding the 2 previously requested features in linkman on linkman bitsdujour deal page.

Steve Larson I'm using Clipboard History Pro since 3.0 Beta 2. Great tool! Thanks for adding RTF support. Is there a way to add RTF items to the archive?
Oct 20 2015 at 2:50am Copy Link
1
Thomas Reimann @Steve: RTF uses a lot of data. The text 'red' uses 3 bytes in ANSI, 6 bytes in Unicode, and if you color it in red in MS word it will use 30000 bytes. Adding many RTF items to an unlimited CH archive can cause some insane data amounts, despite of the compression. We have added an experimental RTF mode to the archive that is still being tested. If you want to try it and are a registered user please write to clipboardhistory@outertech.com for instructions how to enable it.

Thomas Reimann @Mitchell Currently not implemented, but seems like a sensible idea. Please contact clipboardhistory@outertech.com with details and we will implement it into 3.20. We are always open to new macro ideas, as they are rather quick to implement.

@Mario Screenshot support is there yet. It's on to do list for 3.50 or 3.60

@Elsa Image support is on todo list for 3.50. We want to implement it in a smart way (just as we did with RTF support), so it takes time.

J Hi Thomas,

I have a suggestion:

- I think it would be a nice option to be able for the user to label or put a title on the each of the 'Sticky' entries. It would make locating the one you are after much easier.

- Another option would be to 'not' display the 'Clipboard History Pro:' text in the tooltip in the system tray and only display the current clipboard contents. That would make reading the clipboard text much quicker and easier.

Thank you for the very nice software and the Lifetime Updates option!

I just purchased both.

Thanks again!
Oct 21 2015 at 2:29pm Copy Link
0
Thomas Reimann J, labeling is on todo for 3.30; the tooltip suggestion is sound. We will implement it in the next version. The not closing suggestion is tricky, as when pasting CH changes focus to the application, and the API does not allow to set the focus back to the menu easily. But we will take it into consideration. If you need to paste more than one item now, go to the main window, hold down the CTRL key and select multiple items, then hit the Copy to Clipboard button.

Petr I've been looking for a ClipBoard utility. I have some questions please:

Q1: Are all items on the clipboard (when Ctrl-C is pressed) available in future to paste selectively? (images, text, Word test, Excel cells...)? Please list which are available.

Q2: Does your program co-exist with other utilities or software that uses globally defined Windows hot-keys?

Q3: How does it compare with ArsClip, ClipCube or Save.me ?
Mar 18 2016 at 1:46am Copy Link
0
Thomas Reimann 1. Currently CH stores only text or and RTF data. Image support is planned for 3.50, as I wrote before. Keep in mind that CH has an archiving ability, and adding more formats needs to be done right to prevent the database into growing into TBytes of disk space. Doing it right takes time. We are using special compression for that.

2. Yes
Outertech - Mar 18 2016 at 2:05am Copy Link
0
Thomas Reimann 3. Features other clipboard software does not offer to my knowledge: Capslock hotkey support, optional cloud synchronization, AES encryption, JSON data format, unlimited archiving. It works also 100% of the time. Most clipboard managers stop working from time to time (as clipboard monitoring is very complicated).

Dan Grebinski Yes, it started in the free edition, install file clhi200.exe, and continues now in 3.1.0.0. I'm running Win 7 Home Premium. I'm using paste from the mouse menu, so it's not a problem using ctl-v with a bad ctl key. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times with no luck. This is the only program that this problem manifests itself in. Odd and exasperating.

There are many clipboard enhancers, this for me is one of the simplest to use and most effective. I don't use Ctrl-V any more, I use Alt-C, pull up the CH list and decide wether I am pasting rich or plain text of the last clipboard item, or something from yesterday. Love it! Looking forward to setting up more 'stickies' (permanent clips) as a result of going Pro.

Nigel Blumenthal It's always a pain when something you've bought at full price, because it was worth it, later goes on sale at a significant discount! I bought the Pro version in January of this year, and I don't begrudge that, but I will ask one thing please - my version is a one-computer version. Is it possible for you to upgrade the licence to the level contained in this Bits offer? Or should I just buy another copy and extend to lifetime support? Thanks in advance

M User Thanks Thomas & BDJ!

I hope that Linkman is also coming soon again (with lifetime upgrade-option)?

A request (apart from copy/paste images - on his way?) is a way to fast toggle the option to synchronise. I mean, not everything I copy on computer 1 must copied to computer 2. Only somethimes I need some snippets to transfer to the other computer. What is the best way to realise this with CHP?

Thanks again!

Fletch Read the "But wait" paragraph above. That's why I have 2 licenses for my 4 computers! Very handy and doesn't interfere with other clipboard tools I also use.

geo User @ Thomas Reimann, I would like to get this offer but want to clarify the following.
Is ONE license good for 2 PCs (desktop and laptop) ?
And therefore since this offer is for TWO licenses would I be able to install on 2 desktops and 2 laptops ? That is four machines. Do you also know if there is a conflict with other clipboard managers installed on the same machine?
Thanks.

PS: I do see @Fletch's comment but I would like the developers response on these questions.

Thomas Reimann @geo You can use the license on two computers, so one desktop and one laptop. Fletch has purchased 2 x 2 licenses here! We believe Clipboard History Pro is the only clipboard tool we know that is conflict free, as it monitors damage done by other clipboard tools and fixes them.

geo User @Thomas Reimann, OK, I see, I read the title 'wrong'. So, I guess you supply just one license key that will allow 2 activations on different instances.
Just another question, is there a bundle option like for this title and the Linkman one? I didn't find anything to that effect in your site. Thanks.

Adolphe Do you plan an overhaul of Linkman at some point ? This program is all the more needed since local bookmark management has been totally neglected for a while by the software industry, in favor of doing everything "in the cloud". Privacy-minded users cannot accept this as a substitute.

However, Linkman's interface is hoplessly outdated, and it wasn't even high DPI-aware the last time I checked.

Thomas Reimann This is not a Linkman thread. It's for Clipboard History. Linkman v10 is in beta test.

Adolphe Sure. I had not noticed that. Don't take the opportunity to engage with an old-time user of both Clipboard History and Linkman, who might even buy the latter some time in the future if it were given a make-over.

Thomas Reimann It's basically a standard license that can be used on two computers, or one computer and one USB stick (that can be used on multiple computers). 1 year of free updates, with the option for lifetime updates.
