SM Griffith this is listed as for Mac and PC but the only Mac version I see for it is the business edition.

Are the stand home edition listed also available?

Chinchih Lu I downloaded and installed the trial. During installation, I selected "Activate for Trial". However, I am still unable to run the app in trial mode -- I was greeted with the "Activate Clipboard Stripper" window, which doesn't have an option for "trial". Did I miss something?

Dave Israel @Richard Cantor - possible it is the wrong detection cause we using VMProtect software protection system for our app. VMProtect uses code virtualization technologies which can alert the false positives in rare cases.

Lanny Black I just purchased the clip stripper home version for the $11.98. When I try to download the trial software either at this site, the owner's website or your special site where it shows that it has been scanned for virus. My Norton 360 stops it every time and deletes it because it shows the virus ws.reputation.1. Please send me a clean copy. I've also sent this message to their main website. Thank you, Lanny Black

We do not spread the virus, our software does not collect or send confidential information, makes no destructive effects on your computer, it does only what is written in the description of the our software.

Hawkeye I was going to test this, but you can't even run it, in trial mode, without activating it. I have a machine for purposes as this, testing software, without Internet access. I don't just install anything on the main computers without testing it first, unless I know it will be used.

Looking at the website, there is no indication of this when downloading the trial or how to apply for an offline trial key. I realize it states it here that needs to be activated after purchase, but not in the trial mode.

Is there a way to apply for an offline trial key or key file? If I were to purchase, I would purchase the home license.

VLM On your features page, what does this mean: "Format lines with fixed width format"?

What does all this mean:

Has five fixed predefined limited customizable format settings
How can something be "predefined", yet "customizable"?
Has two fully customizable by user format settings
What is the difference between "limited customizable" from the preceding item, and "fully customizable" here?
Has some more formatting features
Don't be lazy, spell it out!!! :)

And what does all this mean:

Portable network graphics image files (.PNG)
JPeg image files (.JPG)
Bitmap files (.BMP)
Metafile files (.WMF or .EMF)

Read these? Convert to these? What?

Finally, does the one year begin on the purchase date, or the activation date? And what happens at the end of one year? Does the software just die? Does the software continue to function, but without access to upgrades? Something else?

NOTE to BDJ: Constantin, this is exactly the sort of question that I mentioned in another recent promotion, and which I believe could be presented more clearly up front. Just pointing this out, by way of an example. :)

Constantin Florea @VLM - After you purchase Clipboard Stripper Personal it may be used indefinitely (please notice this in "The Fine Print" tab), so after the 1 year of upgrades ends you can still use the software. You are correct that we do not cover yet in the license policy ("The Fine Print" tab) when the 1 year of upgrades starts. Thanks for pointing this out.

Dave Israel @VLM - There is number of formatting settings presets - some of them are partially customizable, some - fully.

PNG/JPG/BMP - this means that you can save and load images in that formats derectly from/into clipboard, and then paste it from clipboard into any of your documents.

Originally, clipboard holds bitmap images only in the Bitmap (BMP) format, and there is no standard way to save or load images in JPG/PNG formats to clipboard.

One year updates policy means that the new releases of the software are comes for free for registered users. But it not mean that the purchased software will die after an year. Purchased software will still alive.

So then you have improved upon the standard Windows clipboard functionality by handling the specified additional graphics formats (jpg/png), that is what you mean, correct?

Also, regarding your response to Richard Cantor, is there a keyboard shortcut to open/"activate" the tray icon, or does it only work by mouse clicks at this time? If no shortcut, would you consider adding that feature ... soon? (Helpful for those with injured wrists. :)

Curently only two functions have shortcut keys assigned to it - 1) strip clipboard; 2) autostrip on/off; But we think that this option must be more customizable

Gary Mugford It's unfortunate that this software is guarded so zealously by copy protection that a purchaser, such as myself, can't get the software to run at all. I bought it during the BDJ sale on the weekend and awaited an email with details on how to download the software. The notice that my money had been accepted--that came a few seconds after my purchase. I eventually downloaded the trial and tried to install it into my Win7x64 main box. All efforts to register the software were met with failure due to a looping registration dialog that accepted my serial number, announced success and then re-started the registration process. Over and over. And over. Attempts to email the support at PFS proved unresponsive. Thus, I kiss off the piddling amount of money I wasted on my ever-continuing education about not doing better research, before hitting the buy button. Shame, really. I had a specific one-time need for what I 'think' the product does. But I'll know better the next time this company rotates to the BDJ page. NOTE: The software obviously registers on SOME people's W7 boxes. Hit and miss copy protection will only cost future sales.

VLM Dave Israel - Thanks! I agree that a few more shortcuts would be helpful, at least one simply to open the tray icon as if one had clicked with the mouse. Other shortcuts could be effective from within that window, which would minimize clashes with other uses of global shortcuts. I believe this particular shortcut would be most helpful, because once someone begins using this software, I suspect they would use it quite often, benefiting greatly but also loading the hand/wrist considerably. Just my thoughts. :)

Really, there is some problems in our software activation procedure, which are revealed only when a large number of users try to use it and we are working on this problem. Currently, we updated the software on our site and you can try the updated version from here - http://clipboard-stripper...-setup.exe (or try to donwload zipped setup program - http://clipboard-stripper...-setup.zip)

We are sorry again - this is the our new activation system first used in this product.

There was a problem on the systems with UAC is turned off.
