Joe M It says your program is Windows 7 compatible. What about Windows 10?
Is this a dead program or is it still being updated?
Does it have an OCR feature for PDF's?
From your website, this program has not been updated since September 2010.
Will it support newer Twain compatible scanners?

CFGuy For the Group Seven Technology, Inc. Rep, I am a current user of the admittedly not recently updated PaperPort Professional program to scan and organize my digital documents. I am a big fan of this process - I am scanning and archiving almost everyday and I do believe it is the wave of the future - to drastically, if not entirely eliminate, as much paper as possible. My question is, how does this program, "DA Document Manager", compare to PaperPort Professional- does it offer any additional advantages over PaperPort? Is it as feature-rich and robust as PaperPort? Although it has not been updated in several years, I must say I have yet to come across a program that can do as much as PaperPort can. and believe me I have looked at many over the years, because, although a user and fan, I am not 100% satisfied with every feature and aspect of PaperPort (it would be unlikely that any software user is with their product), and am always on the lookout for a better alternative. Your honjesty and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -CFGuy.

Joe M CFGuy. I hrear your frustration with PaperPort Pro. I think it is a dying program and will never be updated again. Have you looked at File Center? You can get a free 2 week trial to compare it to PaperPort.

I would be interested the DA Document Manager program, but since it has not been updated I don't know how well it would be compared to PaperPort.

Kim N. Jensen Last update 28. september 2010 … hm, I don't think this will be worth the download. Has the developer any comments about this software's future?

Glenn Hansen Thank you for your questions:

Windows 7:
Yes, DA Document Manager "Desktop Edition" runs under Windows 7.

Windows 10:
We will be releasing a 2016 version that supports Windows 10 (minor issues). This will be a free upgrade for those using the May 11 BitsDuJour offer.

DropBox and Cloud Folders:
DA Document Manager (DADM) already works well with DropBox when you configure the DADM Monitored Folders settings to automatically monitor a DropBox folder for new documents. You can also backup your documents directly to DropBox or any other Cloud based folder system as a built-in feature. (Note: we have no affiliation with DropBox or any other Cloud based folder systems, our software just works well with them)

Again, thank you for your questions

CFGuy Hi All - Since Group Seven has not addressed my original post with questions about their program and how it compares to similar programs in this software category (such as PapserPort Professional) (perhaps they did not see the post, or I don't know ... ) I am reaching out to anyone who has had the chance to use both programs (PaperPort Professional and this currently featured program, DA Document Manager, or to anyone who has spent time researching the differences between the 2 programs, to offer their knowledge or experiences about the similarities and differences in features of the two programs. Thanks. -CFguy

Glenn Hansen Hello CFGuy,

Thank you for your question. Many people have let us know that they switch to DA Document Manager from PaperPort, because of the ease-of-use, drag-and-drop features (PDF, Images, etc) which makes it easy to catalog their images and docs. Many users really like the auto-PDF document detection in folders especially when they drag PDFs to the desktop or use DropBox.

They also comment on how easy it is to save and recall documents based on their own keywords. A highly request feature was the built-in ability to backup the documents to external drives and memory cards. The built in restore makes it easy to move archived PDFs from system to system for upgrades.

Also, users like the ability to print directly into DA Document Manager by using the free, downloadable PDF printer.

Based on years of feedback, they just like the simplicity. Of course both products allow you to scan, split PDFs, reorganize pages and rejoin PDFs.

Thank you.

Peter Dr I work with several hundred clients each year. I already convert documents from my clients into pdf format, and have an on-disk filing sysem organized by subcategories of clients, then client folder then by year.

I do not use anything except the Windows filing system to to this. So I so not have Paper Port or some other application to import information from.

Most of my clients return each year, and I have files going back more than 10 years for many of them

Some questions:
1. How will DA Docuiment manager fit into my current filing system?
2 Will it be possible to keep the current structure, using DA Document Manager with new information?
3. Will it take a long time to categorize the thousands of current files and folders in DM Document Manager? It seems as if I would have to do this importation into DA Document Manager file-by-file? Or have I missed something about how to use it?
4. It would take more than the single day that DA Document Manager is offered here for me to test-try it. If I purchased it through the Bits Du Jour special today, is there a money-back possibility after a certain trial period?

Thank you

Edward Smith I have the same questions as Joe. Will the program in its current condition work at all on Windows 10? Do you have a ballpark idea about when the next version that works with Windows 10 will be released? Over sixteen hours with no response from the developer while a promotion for their six year un-updated program is active, is not encouraging.

Bud Gallagher I was a DA Document user running under Windows Home Server and enjoyed using it and was very satisfied with the program. I am willing to take advantage of this offer but before I do I also would like more info on when a fully compatible Windows 10 version will be released and what are the current limitations and problems with the current version running under Windows 10

Joe M No response from the software owner does not give me confidence to purchase this product. The sale was only on for one day. I am glad I did not buy it. Maybe when the Windows 10 version is available and is offered again here on Bits, I might take another look at it.

Glenn Hansen Thank you for all of your feedback and questions. If you missed your opportunity to purchase yesterday, we will work with BitsDuJour to see if we can offer the 2016 version with the same special pricing when it is released in the Fall.

Thank you Bud Gallager for your comments on the WHS version.

Also, great questions Peter DR and Edward Smith:

1. How will DA Document manager fit into my current filing system?
--DADM gathers and stores the files into a folder that is intentionally maintained separately from other document folders. In the current product, you would use the import wizard which will read your PDFs to pull the keywords, meta data, dates, etc, from your archives and automatically catalogs them to allow them to be quickly searchable by the application. You can other flags as well, such as "Business Related" for further categorization

2 Will it be possible to keep the current structure, using DA Document Manager with new information?
--No, but this is a common request that we are investigating for the 2016 release. There are issues to consider such as the depth of your current structure as well as how your files will be known and cataloged by DADM, if the software is not currently running. In the current version of the software, the is a feature that will identify and allow you to add files that may have been added to the folder outside of DA Document Manager...perhaps we could use this feature to help maintain your current structure.

3. Will it take a long time to categorize the thousands of current files and folders in DM Document Manager? It seems as if I would have to do this importation into DA Document Manager file-by-file? Or have I missed something about how to use it?
--Importing is relatively fast and if there is an issue, the software will ask you how you would like to import your files.

4. It would take more than the single day that DA Document Manager is offered here for me to test-try it. If I purchased it through the Bits Du Jour special today, is there a money-back possibility after a certain trial period?
--We will talk with BitsDuJour to see if we can offer a similar special when the 2016 version is released.

Constantin Florea @Lewis User, I am sorry about the confusion. We tried to bring the discount deal for this product but unfortunately we were not able to do this and we missed removing it from the schedule by a few hours, enough for the daily deals to pick it up.
