Paul Vaccaro Will there be a similar 50% off offer on theWindows Home Server version?

anthonyraynor? Yes, how about the WHS version?

Keith Norton This looks intriguing, but I am confused. Your website offers bundles for a Windows Home Server version with multiple PC users at tempting prices. The version offered here is apparently a "new" stand-alone PC version. Is this perhaps the same software with local storage and without networking capability? I have a WHS unit that I am about to install on my network. Should I go for one of those bundles? If I buy today's BDJ version, will it work with a WHS bundle I buy in the future?

Bud Gallagher I am a long time user of the WHS version of this software and consider it a fantastic add-in for all WHS users.

I do not believe the version offered here will work with WHS. Hopefully someone from Group Seven will monitor this conversation and answer the question officially. In my experience, they have an excellent tech support department

Patrick J. Maybe a nice product, but I don't like its license policy (limited and hardware based online activation).

Jeff Carbello Does this program store its tags into PDF document properties metadata's keyword field? That is, are the tags associated with documents embedded in the PDF file itself?

Does it support managing documents like plain txt files without having to convert them to PDF? What about Excel and Word? I realize that I could create PDF's of these items, but it would be so much nicer to have them saved in their regular formats.

If scanner does not have a deskew function will this software deskew/align the scan correctly?

bvssunnydale This looks like a good program but I'd have to compare it to Tag2Find (free home version, info at http://blogs.techrepublic...ag=nl.e064) or, alternatively, the use of carefully named files and Everything Search (portable, free, amazingly fast file finder).

Pedro Laurent I try and like the software but the license policy is a no buy for me I'm passing this software, electronic equipments like PCs can go wrong anytime that's what's bad about DRM activation the investment on the software is lost as well.

bvssunnydale I have no trouble with the DRM activation and it is true that "PC's can go wrong anytime" but if you're not backing up constantly then you're sorta slow anyway [and extra external/online storage is so cheap these days].

I went to the web site and the tagging seems to work only for PDFs. Am I wrong about that [my primary doc format is Wordperfect - yes, I'm a traditionalist]?

Glenn Hansen Thank you for your questions and Comments:

People love DA Document Manager - Desktop Edition because it is fast, powerful and easy to use. You can't go wrong at this special price.

WHS Version: We will work with BDJ for a special offer for the Windows Home Server version.

You can take a DA Document Manager - Desktop Edition backup and restore it into a WHS version of DA Document Manager, should you decide to upgrade to a server based system.

We have a fair license which allows users to move their installation to other PCs. We license so that we can provide customer support and implement new customer requested features.

And yes, you can take your backup and move it to a new PC.

We store documents in the open PDF format. (Not proprietary, not protected by DRM). We convert and store your scanned documents and allow you to preserve your Word, Excel, Word Perfect and other documents exactly as they appear at a single point in time by converting them to PDF. This allows you to email the snapshot of the document without having multiple copies of your original document unmanaged by you.

Most features were added as a direct result of people like you and the company who created DA Document Manager, Group Seven Technology, Inc., has been in business for 10 years.

Keep the questions coming.

All the best,
GH and Your DA Team

Staley Product looked really promising, as I still searching for a Doc Man like this, and around this price, but with no DRM. That's the deal breaker... other than that I love the look and feel of the app... I just don't like the fact that even after they send you the registration key, the software still needs an internet connection to it the "license code".

Charles Caldwell I would like to know what it takes to get an Email response from DA Document Support? Have never got a response in over 4 years. I had a WHS Server v.1 database to go belly up and re-installed theWHS and DA Document Software, put the original Lic information and Email Address in, I get a server unavailable message back, has been three days and still no Email returned for a simple answer of what is wrong with the License Information?
