Directory Opus 12 Pro is a brilliant file manager with much greater power and functionality than Windows Explorer.

With Directory Opus 12 Pro, you'll be greeted with single and dual pane file displays and trees that will have you navigating through your files like a jet plane at an air race. Are you ready for file management software with familiar tab-based organization that lets you keep multiple folders open while enabling quick access with just a click? As you would expect from a high caliber file manager, you can organize, filter, sort, group, and search through your folders faster than ever before. There's even support for color coding and star ratings, stuff that should have been a part of Microsoft's system years ago.

When you lived in Windows Explorer Land, you used to have to launch associated programs to get an idea of what file you were examining. Directory Opus 12 Pro file manager frees you from this tedium, giving you previews of images, documents, and more right inside of a dedicated Viewer pane! Additional features include the ability to view and edit file metadata and the power to rename, synchronize, and detect duplicate files right inside of the application! Best of all, full support for multithreading makes this the fastest file management software you've ever experienced.

Sure, it's not perfect and it has its quirks, but you've long learned to get along with Microsoft’s file manager in order to get your work done. Well, today is the day that you liberate yourself from Microsoft's file management system and start to experience life the way it was meant to be - with today's discount software promotion, Directory Opus 12 Pro!

Please note folks, the price listed above is an estimate based on current AUD->USD conversion rates. There may be some slight variation come promo day.

This promotion includes the following:
Directory Opus 12 Pro Single License ($62.30)
Directory Opus 12 Pro Dual License ($90.30)
Directory Opus 12 Pro Five License ($174.58)

Tore Hoyem DOpus might appear to be expensive and redundant since Windows comes with a file explorer, but it's anything but.
I've used DOpus for a long time (10? 20? years) and I simply can't imagine using a PC without it.
Their service and support is also excellent, in my opinion.

tony User V 12 has been out for a long time. When is the next version due and will we have to pay for upgrade?

Also, do you plan a MAC version. I use it via Parallels but native mac would be great

Lito I will say this I have used this program for years, every single day and even at full price it is more than worth it. It can do basically anything I need it to do and it is extremely customizable. I have my own user menus, right click options (general and by filetype), and even customized drag and drop right click options, along with custom display colors based on file types. The rename feature is one of the best there is.

The only real downside is how long it will take you to learn how to customize it. There are so many settings it has it's own search option. The help file is very comprehensive so for simple things it will be relatively easy, but to add custom buttons, scripts, commands, drag and drop options, it will take some time to get it right and you will add custom commands etc over time. Once you do get it customized and setup the way you like (and it took me years over time of constantly adding features) you will hate using regular windows file explorer or any other explorer like file manager.

John Buchan I upgraded from v11 to v12 back in 2016. V12 has been out a long time but still gets updated every few months. The latest release I have is12.28 Pro x64 and it remains my file manager of choice. Definitely recommended.

MSWallack I've used many file managers over the years but Directory Opus is, without doubt, far and away the best. The degree to which the program can be customized is tremendous, it is constantly being updated, and support is outstanding. If you do any sort of work involving file management beyond simply moving a file from here to there now and then, you'll be doing yourself a favor by getting Directory Opus.

Yvonne Renfrew Without any doubt, the best of breed!!!

And for those wary of the reputed "complexity" of using some of this software's more esoteric features, you need not use those features for Directory Opus to be your best software investment of all time (at least outside the MS or alternative word processing and related "basics"). But if and when you need the magical high grade features of Directory Opus, they are there.

Daniel User Do yourself a real favor and grab this deal! You won't be sorry. While Microsoft keeps delaying adding tabs to the dreadful File Explorer, Directory Opus has had tabs for a decade. Opus is great for moving and copying files -- and you can set it to require a confirmation when you delete a file, something that File Explorer does not do (so no more accidentally deleted files or folders with Opus.)

I've been using Directory Opus since 2012 and it is a real gem - well worth even the retail price. While it works just fine "out of the box," it's the customization that really makes it stand out. You can easily set up tabs for folders you wish to access the most frequently. You can highligh folders and files in bold and with colors. You can customize which icons appear where on its "task bar." And you can save it all and use the same configuration on other computers.

Be aware, however, that there is a learning curve. Some of the terminology is a bit odd and not intuitive, i.e. "listers." But once you get a hang of it, it is a sheer joy and incredible productivity tool. It has a really good "find" function. You can view the first page of most documents in Opus. Support is good, possibly because the authors are, if I recall correctly, professors in Australia.

My only question is whether they named Directory Opus after cartoonist Berkeley Breatherd's beloved penquin Opus?

Chuck Echoing many comments here, Directory Opus (DOpus to the community) has been part of my daily PC life for over 15 years. It offers more functionality and customizability than any file manager out there, has responsive support that provides updates on a regular basis, and hosts a vibrant online community that seems to be able to solve just about any even tangentially related file issue.

The learning curve can be steep and, while you will still get significant mileage even out of its standard configuration compared to other file managers, its robust scripting capabilities could prove intimidating for those new to scripting who want to explore its potential. The developers and community will help, and there are numerous solutions and examples in the forum, but expect to be an active participant in your own development.

That said, if you're even considering an alternative to the stock Windows file manager, search online for the best, highest rated alternatives. You will see Directory Opus at or near the top of every. single. list. It's THAT good!

Kyle user I cannot believe GP software finally decided to agree to a discount!! This is one of the **best** file managers on the market. To call it an "alternative" to M$ explorer is not a good description - it is so much more than that and does so much more than Explorer.

It lists files, drives, searches, edits, manages and so much more - and all with an interface that is highly customizable. The FTP and other functionality make this software a must-have.

Purchases, receipt, installation, support, site info - all easy and easily accessible.
Must buy! Thank you GP for having this offer.

- Also, If I have an older version, can I combine this deal with the upgrade discount for an existing customer?

Thanks!

Rich OBrien After using Directory Opus constantly for 12 years, recently in the viewer pane I saw that I can see, enlarge and read the first page of every PDF file. This enabled me to rename hundreds of PDF newsletters with more accurate, descriptive names.
Then after finding and installing Adobe Reader, I can now instantly scroll and view every page of a PDF newsletter file. I have thousands of health newsletters stored on my computer as PDF files. Now I can quickly and easily go through every page to find the information I need. XYplorer and File Explorer don't do this. I've never been depressed in my life but if you took Directory Opus and this new found ability to view every page of PDF files away from me, I could be depressed. The code to allow Directory Opus to view and scroll the contents of PDF files should be within Directory Opus. Finding and installing a second program to make this work is a problem that kept me from enjoying this important function for the first 12 years I used Directory Opus.

Robert User @Jean Belanger
>" The price asked on the Directory Opus Opus Online Ordering page does not show the 40% reduction.but the full price"

It is a little different from the "full price."

The price on the Online Ordering page is in Australian dollars, not the U.S. dollar amount shown above. The conversion rate can vary, but as of 2022-08-17, the Australian dollar amount is showing $53.40 on the order page. If you have a currency exchange converter program or visit a website that can do the conversion, you will see that $53.40 AUD is equivalent to the $37.48 US shown above (or very close).

If you go ahead with the purchase, you will get the program at the price listed above. I know that it is confusing for some and will probably scare some U.S. potential buyers away.

Daniel User Somebody asked, "If I buy it now, will I be able to get v13 (when it becomes available) for free?
- Also, If I have an older version, can I combine this deal with the upgrade discount for an existing customer?"

First, it all depends on when version 13 comes out. If I recall correctly, they would give a new version for free if you bought your current version within 30 or 60 days before the new one came out. I don't know what the practice will be when v13 eventually is released. You might want to ask them about it at salesgpsoft.com.au -- keep in mind they are located in Australia and might not be awake when you write.
Second, if you're not within the purchase period for a free upgrade to v13, I amm pretty darned sure that you would get an upgrade discount on v13 as an existing customer. They've been really good about the upgrades, but this deal here is far better than the discounted upgrade price.

kydara In case you missed it, I would NOT recommend using Paypal to buy this from the U.S. Paypal has a terrible conversion rate from USD to AUD. If you have a Citibank credit card, they have a better conversion rate meaning you will pay less. Also, Citibank does not have a 3% foreign transaction fee like some other credit cards.

I purchased. Kind of intimidating, but I'm looking forward to getting to know Dopus :)

William W. User I checked the memory use of Directory Opus versus Explorer on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit machine:

Program MB
------------- ---
Explorer 85
Directory Opus 103

I consider the roughly 20% higher memory use of DO well spent, considering the much higher functionality.
