If you work with sensitive material, how do you safeguard the security of your files? Passwords? Those funky monitor filters? Odd filenames? The best way to protect your files is to either make them inaccessible or, even better, invisible to unauthorized evildoers. Today's discount software promotion, FileWall, lets you do both!

FileWall offers real-time encryption of files and folders, with the ability to deny access to sensitive materials or hide them completely from view. With FileWall, you'll never even know you're enjoying this wonderful protection, since FileWall is capable of decrypting files when you need to work with them, and locking them back up when you're done, all in the background!

What kind of encryption are we talking about? How about AES-128 and AES-256? That's right - when you start using FileWall, you're buying yourself some real protection!

S. User I've just tried the trial version and it seems to have a problem with long path names.
Is this because it's a trial version or is there a restriction on the length of the path name?
I have an external HDD attached to my router for network storage, I would like to 'Encrypt' the Root folder, is this possible or do I have to go right down to sub-folder's level?

Dean User Really interested in this program, just one question.

When you enable real time encryption to access your files/folders on the fly. Will you have to manually deactivate real time encryption to prevent access to the protected data?

Or will the locked folder restrict access automatically, after say 5 minutes of inactivity for example?

I'm just asking because say you were using real time encryption and forgot to disable it, your folder be completely unprotected and accessible by anyone. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

Tean you need to manually close the real time encryption. About this there is room for improvement

Dean User Thanks for the information Tean.

Do you have any plans to implement some sort of inactivity timeout feature in the next version?

Something like a either a hh/mm/ss timer or drop down menu where you can select the duration of inactivity after which real time encryption will automatically be deactivated.

Because this is a really great, user-friendly utility that would be perfect for the average user. If it would automatically protect encrypted data if the user forgets to disable real time encryption.

BTW, I'm still going to buy Firewall today to support your product, and hopefully it will be feasible for your developers to add this feature in a future update?

deanuk Hi, I just installed the trial and hid a file... how do I restore the hidden file?

The folder is empty and I can't find any option to make the hidden file visible again?!

Thanks

Avatar I just tried the trial version and encrypted a folder and then activated real time encryption. I then went on another computer and looked at one file within the folder I had real time encryption running on and then closed the file. I then went to close real time encryption but got an error message saying a file was in use. There are no files in use and I'm unable to encrypt the folder again. Not a very successful first try of your product. Have I done something wrong?

Richard Stone Do you require the user to select a maximum size for files/folders and allocate of container of that size (like Truecrypt)? Or does the container dynamically resize (like WINZIP)?

Also, if someone doesn't have a password, would they see the filenames within a secure folder?

Tean size limit is your disk capacity.
you can enable encrypt filenames.

Richard Stone I just purchases FileWall and got a key in a screen and in email.

Now, how to I get the software?

I downloaded the trial, but there doesn't seem an obvious place to put in the key, Do I add the key to the trial? Or install some different version?

Avatar Just to follow up on my previous post. The only way I was able to resolve the issue was to reboot. Seeing I access files/folders on my 3 computers from each of them at various times during the day this will not work out for me. But before deciding no for good I tried once again on a different folder. I encrypted it and then selected Real Time Encryption and after some HD activity I got a BSOD. 2nd one in 10 months with a clean system. I then uninstalled the program and had to reboot. I did and then checked my registry for entries and found several of them (poor uninstall routine!) I then went to delete these entries manually but your program has locked them and prevents their removal! This is totally unacceptable after a program has been uninstalled. Please advise how to delete all registry entries and remnants of your program. Thank you.

Jason Summers I have purchased this software after trying trial. Have not received email with registration key. I have emailed the software manufacturer and here to no avail. Good thing I paid with PayPal. I will give it a few more hours before cancelling. Maybe this is a sign of things to come regarding support.

Richard Stone I got the key instantly, but no clue about how to download the software or what to do with the key.

There's no response from the email help, and they haven't responded to my request for information here. I'm still 'hanging in the wind'.All in all, not a very satisfying experience.

LU Hello Richard Stone

You can download the file here on this site or at the home page of the software. Alternatively here as well: http://hummerstudio.com/d...astest.exe

Copy the registration code you received in your email and the after installation of the software, right click on a file and you will see "filewall" go to the "About" tab and then you can paste the code from the clipboard.

Hope this helps you to get registered.

E. M. Software vendor is a non-US company and operates in a different time zone.

I installed the software and entered my registration key. I started with a 60-character long manage password with alphanumerics and symbols. The software took my password but apparently it did not then recognize my password. I tried to reinstall but it did not allow me to uninstall with my "incorrect" manage password. Fortunately, I had just had a system backup. I restored my system and reinstalled again with a shorter 16-character long password; and everything has worked fine so far. I will test the software more in the coming days.

Sandro Perotti What happened to the 100% discount that was announced a few days ago?

Val Pope I was wandering the same thing. It is not the first time I see FileWall in the giveaway section, and 1-2-3 days later it is taken away from there and given a special discount. I know everyone has the wright to change mind, but can't you keep the decision to give it as a giveaway, since it stayed in the giveaway list more than 1 day?

I do not care about encryption to much, but I was curious to try you product. All my best in developing it further.

Sandro Perotti Would be nice to have a reply from the developer, or from BdJ. What's important is to know if there will be the 100% or not, and when.
