Mitchell User Goodsync has been my backup program for at least a decade for specific directories. The developers constantly improve the program. I believe that I paid for one major upgrade. Cannot remember. When I switched from SMTP to gmail somehow I lost the ability to send myself notifications of completions of actions. I would like to get that back if possible. Rock solid peace of mind. I guess it can backup in real time as you change the contents of targeted folders but I am always concerned about RAM overhead although I have tons of RAM on my desktop

Karl M. May I ask a question here that's important for me? It's about a good "Backup Retention Policy" feature (version control / versioning):
I have tested so many backup programs in the past, and I have noticed time and again that versioning is not well done with most backup programs. I have no idea why that is so. I found only CrashPlan (who have discontinued their service) and the open source backup program "Duplicacy" who have really great "Backup Retention Policy" features (version control / versioning).
Do you have an explanation why this IMHO so important feature is so neglected by most backup programs?

lisba f @ Silver Systems: I’m sorry but it looks too expensive... In order to sync 2 computers, one must pay (original price) $ 200, or $ 500 to sync 5 computers, without even cloud being involved? That’s unbelievable!...
