Michael R. Is it possible to embed some files (e.g. pics/mp3/dll/exe or source-files), inside a daily-entry (not just a link to it)?

Additionally I would like to enter tags together each entry (e.g. development/personal/public) and create a new diary out of the exisiting one, which is filtered by some criteria, e.g. all the entries, which contain tag development, but not personal (perhaps by entering an export filter-expression (tag(development) AND NOT(tag(private)).

One last thing: When exporting a professional-version-diary, is it possible for a receiver, who only owns the free version, to read it?

Thanks a lot...

Splinterware Hi Michael,

Yes you can embed files of any kind through the Insert - File menu option or drag-and-drop the file onto the page. Embedded files are stored in the diary database. In addition you can create a link to an external file if you prefer.

You can categorize each entry by adding it into Topics. And if you know that there are only going to be 3 areas like Development, Personal and Public you could set up iDD to create 3 tabs each called by those names. When you come to export you can filter by Topic or by Tabname or both.

Once you have exported, if the diary is opened by someone using the Free version they will only be able to see the parts of the diary that part of the free version (e.g. your daily entries), they wouldn't be able to see your non-dated entries (Sticky Tabs). However you could export your diary in some other format, like RTF, MS Word and they could read that.

There is a 30 day evaluation of the Professional version on our website if you want to download and give it a try.

Marco Pivetta I´ve been using the free version for years. Simple and efficient software. I'll buy the professional version in order to contribute to it´s development.
I store the database in dropbox. So, it can be used on the desktop and on the notebook. But be careful to avoid any conflict version.
This software could improve allowing publication of some pages in a web system, similar or, why not, just like wordpress. The user would have an option to protect the page with password to share only with friends.
I Know it can be done, but it´s a hard job. It shoud be automated.
Another idea is a sincronization with google calendar.

Splinterware @Kim - iDD is just Windows only, we don't have a smartphone version yet.

@Marco - there is an export to HTML included in iDD to create web pages, but agree we can improve this in the future.

Molly Savage I love my IDDiary, have been using it for years, but, what happens if I forget my password, can I recover my journal that has years of entries in it? or is it completely lost forever?

Splinterware @Amber - Only a MS Windows version at the moment.

@Molly - as long as you are using a recent version of iDD, 3.8x or higher, you can optionally enter a memorable question and answer combination that you can reset your own password should you forget it.
