Click the above video and get, "This video is no longer available because the uploader has closed their YouTube account."

The "Screenshots" icon, above left, returns this, "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later."

On the developers website, any clicks to see a screenshot results in a semi-transparent whited out screen.

Click "The Fine Print." tab above and see that: "KeyRocket is licensed per user, so if more people are going to use KeyRocket you will need to purchase additional copies." Also, "Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 12 months." It appears to be a one year license for $17 and renewal for $29. My guess is that a lot of upgrades may not be necessary. Just know what you are buying.

Frank Stephens James Evans, maybe they fixed the website or BDJ changed the blurb, I didn't experience the issues that you did. Charging for updates after a certain amount of time or when changing the major version is not uncommon. The concept was intriguing until I checked the website and discovered that it only applies to a few Microsoft products and doesn't have complete keyboard shortcut lists, which you can find on Microsoft.com for free.

Our licensing is per-user to allow everyone to use KeyRocket on multiple machines (home and work, for example). Looks like the screenshot issues are resolved, let me know if they persist for you and I'll take another look.

We do indeed have a complete shortcut database, both within the program (just hit Win+Shift+K) and on our site (http://www.veodin.com/shortcut-database/). We support absolutely all shortcuts for the supported programs and languages (full list here), and are about to release support for 40 or so shortcuts that Microsoft doesn't include by default in Excel and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to assign personalized shortcuts to longer sequences.

Michael R. Having been first quite interested, I'm a little disappointed now, that this program only supports certain programs.

Perhaps this would be not possible, but isn't in window-programs not a direct connection between a menu and a hotkey stored as tupel (menu-item, hotkey) somewhere in the windows-menu-structure for the forms of the program?
So couldn't this tupel not be evaluated and used?

Which application are you missing the most?

Unfortunately the list of keyboard - menu item tuples you mention does not exist / can not be used. Because for most applications there are many mistakes in the list. We've even build a crawler which clicks through all menu, but there are so many errors in there as well (what the user sees is not always equal to what's written in the menu structure).

That's why we are adding each application and version (for each language) by hand, which takes some time.

Michael Burkley I've been using KeyRocket for a few months now, and each day I find that I have to use it less and less. That's because KeyRocket is working just as its supposed to. I do something in one of the supported programs and up pops a hint (in a small semi - transparent box that doesn't interfere with your work) that tells me a keyboard shortcut for that action. The next time I might remember that shotcut (it takes me awhile!) and use it, saving me time. The program even has little pop-ups that congratulate you on having learned a new shortcut.

I heartily recommend this program to you. The developer(s) even write back when you send them a note. Finally, there is a freeware version of this program designed for Gmail that clues you in on the keyboard shortcuts for that. Check that out to get an idea about the whole program.

Frank Stephens Caleb Jaquith, I'm sorry, but I don't see how your shortcut database compares to Microsoft's. Here are the basic keyboard shortcuts for Windows 7:

Michael R. Thaks Caleb for your specific answer to my 'idea'.

As it seems you invested some time to check out, if this could be done or not. If such a list (automatic link between a menu-item and a keyboard-shortcut) does not exist, you can't do anything to make your tool usable for all programs. But if it does - even if it's faulty - you could use it as an user-editable list.

So, e.g, if the user is in a certain program and hits a KeyRocket hotkey, there could pop up a window with the found/calculated menu-items with it's associated keyboard-shortcuts and the user could be asked, if these should be saved into KeyRocket's internal database and if he wants to modify this list now. So the user could confirm some of these tupels, delete some, let some unmodified and even insert some.

Tazzie This is cool software! One of my big weaknesses is using shortcuts.
It would be great if this also worked for other major programs. (hint!)

If Upgrades are not free after 12 months, how often do you issue upgrades? What about updates that are not major version upgrades? Are those charged? And how frequently are they released? Thanks!

Mark Johnson There are several add-ins to Visual Studio that enhance certain built-in features and replace the keyboard shortcut to that feature.

For example, I use Resharper ( http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/ ) in Visual Studio 2010 and 2012.
If I use the keyboard shortcut 'shift-f12' I get the Resharper find usages dialog, which is much more feature-packed than the same dialog in VS. It replaces several other features with 'beefed-up' versions, and along with that replaces the shortcuts.

So... the question... If I use the mouse to choose one of these features on a toolbar or menu, my assumption is that KeyRocket would do nothing because I'm clicking on a Resharper menu item instead of a VS menu item. Since these add-ins replace so many of the VS built-in shortcuts, can I 'retrain' KeyRocket to know the new shortcuts?

Using the same example as above, I can right-click and choose "Find Usages", choose it through an icon on a toolbar, through a menu, or by the keyboard shortcut 'shift-f12'. Since this is a direct replacement for the same feature and same shortcut built in to VS, can I train KeyRocket to recognize it and provide assistance?

If this isn't possible, I would very much recommend it for an upgrade to the application. The ability to add to or modify the existing databases would make the software much more powerful.
