VLM Toby Yang, How does this software interact with copy protection schemes?

Roy Crowe Rated 5 out of 5 by users: Remove protection of AACS, BD+, the latest MKB for Blu-ray disc and CSS protected DVD discs.

Don't take my word for it look at these reviews:

Toby Yang Hello VLM, no worries, should work perfectly for the latest and protected Blu-ray videos.

Hello Roy, thanks very much for your support and make sure to get it on May 12th, a happy Mother's Day! :) And we will try to negotiate with BDJ again to see whether we can extend this deal for another day!

Thanks all and have a great weekend in advance!

VLM Also, is this offered, in effect, as an annual subscription or the like ... I mean, I realize that the program will continue working, but what is required to continue receiving updates that handle evolving encryption schemes and such?

Also, will this remove warning pages and other content that no one ever wishes to watch? (I realize that I'm a bit presumptuous here. Perhaps SOMEONE does wish to watch. :)

Finally, to what extent does this software, and/or other software you offer, enable a user to effectively author a DVD/Blu-ray disk? ... I mean creating one's own menus or what not.

Thanks, sounds like a TERRIFIC opportunity!!!

VLM I would like to report the following:

1. I wrote off with a question to Leawo's tech support. Even though it is about 9:30 PM where I am, I received back a response almost faster than I could return to my spam filter to look for one.

2. It appears that this can copy even disks from Netflix. I am trying one out, just to see whether it works. (No, I don't go around stealing content.)

Toby Yang Hello VLM, glad to read your feedback again! Let me answer your questions one by one:

1. Yes, this is a 1-year subscription, once the subscription is going to expire, you will have an option to renew it for another year or even longer, and we usually offer a very nice price for renewal from our loyal customers exactly like you.

2. This software actually has 3 copy modes: main movie, full movie and custom, it's just a matter of whether the warning page is the part of the movie. From our experience, usually it can not be removed. :(

3. BD Copy does not come along with menu template, but BD Creator does. However, since you did copy the content, it should be easy to make it yours, using watermarks, etc.

4. Should be no problem to copy DVD/BD disks from Netflix, just give it a try and let us know if it can not do so.

5. Last but not the least, thank you for your nice words regarding our customer-care service, very encouraging!

Thank you and enjoy your day ahead!

VLM Toby Yang -

1. regarding the 1-year subscription, just to be crystally clear, the software keeps working, only the stream of updates stops, correct?

2. Copying the Netflix disk did indeed work, subject to the limitations of the trial software about (not copying complete chapters). I was able to create an .iso file, mount it (Virtual CloneDrive), and then play it using VLC player.

3. I did notice the 3 copy modes, would have to read up and learn more about using custom mode, of course.

4. You write: "BD Copy does not come along with menu template, but BD Creator does. However, since you did copy the content, it should be easy to make it yours, using watermarks, etc." Wish I knew how! (Perhaps the BD Creator tool will come here to BDJ one day soon!)

VLM To get a sense of what the future holds ... If one had made this purchase one year ago today, what would be the cost today to extend the subscription? Or in the alternative, can you point us to a page that contains your current upgrade pricing?

Can one extend for multiple years at a time?

Of course, we all realize that you may change the upgrade pricing a year from now. This is just to get a sense of things as they are today.

1) Can I Make An EXACT Copy Of A Blu-Ray Disc To Another Blu-Ray Disc Wih No Loss In Video/Audio Quality ?? Also Same Question For DVD's "" decrypt, rip, copy, and backup all of your Blu-ray movies to digital files "" I Want To Make Complete Copys To Blank Media

2) Can I Back Up A Windows 8 64 Bit Machine ( Entire Hard Drive) To An Iso Image And Store The Iso Image On An Extrernal Drive ?

Roy Crowe Hi WildWizard,

I can only address the first question for I have only used the trial version. Have you used the trial version? Yes it will rip and decrypt the Blurays with the same quality. Most other Bluray Copy software either lockup or fail on trying to read the disc. This Leawo Blu-ray Copy works best. Use the trial version and see for yourself. I am running Windows 7 64 Bit Machine. And I know that you know that you need a read/write Bluray Drive and at least a 1TB hard drive to copy backup Bluray Disc.

Hope this helps...

Toby Yang Hello VLM,

Of course, you can extend your current license to multiple years use, the current license and price options are available here: http://www.leawo.com/blu-...chase.html, use the drop-down menu to see the details;

As for the blu-ray creator with rich menu templates, we will again talk with BDJ soon to make it a deal for you guys! Will keep you updated anyway! The details of blu-ray creator is here: http://www.leawo.com/blu-...eator-mac/

Hello Roy,

Thanks for your help to answer the questions from WildWizard, as for the 2nd question, i'm afraid our blu-ray copy can only copy the video files from blu-ray and dvd as the source, not the whloe operating system.

Thanks guys, and just shoot your questions if you have.

Enjoy the weekend!

VLM Is it possible to purchase two 1 year licenses, activate one now and one a year from now?

May 12 2013 at 10:10am Copy Link

0

VLM Toby Yang - Thanks! I see now the lifetime license ... Put THAT on BDJ!!!!! :):):):):)

The regular price for a single license is USD 44.95. The two-year at regular price is USD 59.95, USD 15 more. The increment for a third year is also USD 15, for a fourth year USD 10, then for lifetime USD 15 more. That's 10 licenses at today's price, which of course would be silly.

So my question, in part at least, is this: If I purchase two licenses today at USD 9.95, can I activate one today, the second a year from now? Or put another way, is Leawo perhaps willing to extend today's promotion, to incorporate some of the longer-term options in some way?

Humbly submitted, of course. :)

Stephen Warkentien I don't think an early question was answered namely,

Does this stop working in one year?

I have experience with two different license types.

1) A perpetual license where after an initial support period one must renew the support contract if they want updates and support. Without a support contract the product may still be used albeit without support or further upgrades.

2) A limited license restricted to number of computer, users, or length of time. These licenses have a method of enforcement such as expiration date, license/lock file with user limits or processor ID.

Does your one year license match either of these or is it different. Thank you!

Ralph Bressler @VLM

the creator on their website exists in a Windows version.

Something else concerns me about this company. Their website states they are offering a FREE key for their DVD Ripper. When you try to get the free key, you are told that you were not "lucky" enough to get a free key?!@#$$ They then offer a reduced price for the program. This is clearly a form of "bait and switch". I have contacted their customer service and am awaiting an explanation of this shady practice. Perhaps the company could respond here. I will not deal with any company that has this type of business model even when they offer great deals!

May 12 2013 at 6:36pm Copy Link

0

Toby Yang Hello VLM,

If you buy two copies now, am afraid you have to activate and start to use them all right now cause both of them will be expired after one year.

And correct, we have both mac and win versions for blu-ray creator as well. You did find it! :)

Hello Roger, the admin,

Thanks very much for answering the question from Stephen, we appreciate that!

Toby Yang Hello Ralph,

Thanks for your feedback regarding our current Blu-ray Ripper giveaway & deal campaign addressed at http://www.leawo.com/blu-ray-ripper/. Please allow me some time to explain this:

We do provide the free codes each day for blu-ray ripper both win and mac versions, and you can actually see the name list there who did get it, no cheat about that, promise!

It's just the free codes we will provide are limited quantities, you have to grab it as fast as you can before it's gone, otherwise you will have to pay a certain low price to get it as a deal.

Good luck and we do appreciate any feedback from you guys to make us serve you better next time.

Thank you and have a great day ahead!

Leawo Software - May 12 2013 at 6:54pm Copy Link

0

Stephen Warkentien No Roger it does not completely answer VLM's question, which I echoed. (Does it stop working after one year?)

@Ralph I have the same concern. The "Mother's Day" promotion is clearly misleading. Very irritating. Perhaps that is why the Web of Trust members (mywot.com) give it an unsatisfactory rating.

Leawo is also offering a license in return for reviewing the beta version of their player. I hope that offer is legitimate.

Toby Yang Hey Stephen,

Nice to read the feedback from you again and ok, let's put it straight here:

1. After one-year subscription, theoretically it will keep working, if you did not reinstall the program and do not attempt to copy the protected BD/DVD disks anymore. Non-protected disks are always ok to be processed.

2. As the Blu-ray encryption technology is constantly changing, we need to invest a lot of time and energy to make it work on our product, so your support and understanding is very much appreciated!

3. We usually offer a huge discount for our loyal customers to renew the license, so the cost is actually just a little.

Thanks and hope i made myself clear this time. :)

Enjoy your day!

Leawo Software - May 12 2013 at 8:00pm Copy Link

VLM Ralph Bressler - Thank you. Yes, I noticed the Ripper thing, too. A bit disturbing indeed.

Toby Yang - Thank you for your response. :) Regarding the Ripper promotion, your explanation is fine, but that is not at all what comes across to someone visiting your website. I suggest that you take the explanation you provided, above, and add it to the web page in question. That will be clear to everyone, I think.

From my perspective, the following is new infomration: " After one-year subscription, theoretically it will keep working, if you did not reinstall the program and do not attempt to copy the protected BD/DVD disks anymore. Non-protected disks are always ok to be processed."

So the software works, but the copy protection mechanisms, even those already downloaded, stop working. is this correct? If it is ... and I suspect that it is ... then it really would be quite nice if Leawo were to offer a promotion here on the longer licenses and the lifetime license. Again, the discount need not be 78%, 77% will do just fine. (JUST KIDDING :):)

Also, what does " if you did not reinstall the program" mean? Is there some obstacle to reinstalling if one reinstalls an OS, buys a new machine, or the like?

Many people really dislike getting caught in the annual renewal game, particularly with smaller companies that tend to go in and out of business on the basis of one or two people who really ARE the company.

You also write: "We usually offer a huge discount for our loyal customers to renew the license, so the cost is actually just a little."

Fair enough, of course. And you earlier directed us all to Leawo's multiyear license page. But are the increments of USD 10/15 per year shown on that page the same for renewals as for new purchases? If yes, then it would help if you were to say so, instead of saying the rather oblique "huge discount for our loyal customers", which obviously might mean different things to different people.

OTOH, if the numbers tend to be a bit different than those on the multiyear license page, then it would help if you were to provide a couple of present-day examples, of course with the understanding that Leawo may change its pricing at any time in the future.

Right now, I have bought a 1-year license in this promotion for our congregation. But I COULD purchase a longer-term license, if something were made available.

Just my thoughts on the matters at hand. I do hope I've not rambled on too long on this matter.

May 12 2013 at 9:03pm Copy Link

0

VLM Well, one more incremental thought: When I suggest bringing some of the longer-term licenses into this deal, if you already offer "huge discounts" for renewals, why not get the money up front? Would this not benefit both users here and Leawo at the same time? Seems so to me, but perhaps I'm overlooking something.

Thanks for your feedback and here is our explanation:

1. XBMC is not involved at all in any form in our Blu-ray Copy;

2. However, it does get involved in other products of ours. And we made it better to fit our products by fixing a lot of bugs and optimizing the UI;

3. We thank XBMC team very much for their sharing so that we can offer more valuable products to our customers. More info please visit http://www.leawo.com/opensource.html.

Charles Mitchell Thanks Toby I have not got that source code and going through it...:).......

VLM....There are many many many (yes that's three manys) companies that do what I am talking about with Leawo being one of them...The difference is that Leawo is doing the right thing as Toby has posted...

VLM I know of companies that have been taken GPLed software since 2002 and claiming as their own without one peep about who the original developers are....The bad and sad thing is that some of the original developer decided to give up and stop developing altogether because of this type of stuff going on.....All they asked for was credit for their hard work....
