Wm Shore It's amazing how frequently bitsdujour has purchase and/or price link issues.. Over the last couple years I've tried at least three times to purchase items and given up due to the lack of clear pricing info (items regularly appear at full price all thru the process, sometimes with vague promises that after you confirm 'x' price, 'y' price will actually be the charge). It's amazingly dumb. Also, on another matter, is this product the same as the 'NitroPDF Professional' version? Thanks.

Sigh... yes, we have been experiencing more than our share of purchase link issues lately. It's logistical -- we have to deal with the peculiarities, quirks, and downright silly indulgences of more than 30 eCommerce providers. With as many as three deals a day, it gets a bit hairy at times.

Anyhow, hopefully respite is on the horizon. We just hired a dedicated administrator to oversee the purchase link process. With any luck he'll be an expert soon an we'll all start to see some dividends.

As far as the "vague promises", I believe you're referring to the pre-purchase notes we add in some cases after the "Buy Now" link? In fact, we have no control over when or where a particular eCommerce system displays the discount in the purchase process. Occasionally the system in question forces the end user to wade through several form-filled screens before showing the reduced price. Personally, as a consumer, I find that to be a bit disconcerting. I want to see that discount IMMEDIATELY. That's why we add those pre-purchase notes -- in order to assuage any fears our customers might have. I wouldn't call it amazingly dumb, but I'll agree that it's a hack to a surprisingly convoluted process. You wouldn't believe how many customer service emails I've sent asking some of these companies to make their system less confused.

Bits du Jour Fan I wouldn't call three times in a couple years "amazing" as far as price link issues go. I've purchased about 30 products from this site and any issues I had were promptly resolved. I understand Roger's frustration with all the ecommerce providers and individual software companies. It's a great site all in all and this deal in particular (Nitro PDF Pro) was very welcome.

fran harter Overall, not too bad of a pdf creation product.

I bought this PDF product first, on a deal like this [50% off] from a marketing email from VCOM, about 2 years ago.

Then later I bought **nuance's PDF Converter pro 5.
[**nuisance would be a better company name] :^)

Only conversion problems was mainly with artwork.
Both programs had problems converting images within a pdf, to images to go into word.

Support was MUCH better with Nitro than "nuisance" [I mean nuance].
A night and day difference. Nitro has support, nuance doesn't
[unless you want to pay, pay,pay all the time for contact with them
]
Regarding pdf converter pro;
I had a product "suggestion" I wanted to offer to nuance but could not even find a way to contact them WITHOUT going through tech support and without incurring a TECH SUPPORT fee!

Nitro is definitely worth a try, if you want a decent, "supported" PDF creator/converter.

Any language version is specific to that language -- i.e., English is 'English-only', French is 'French-only', so on and so forth.

John Marshall There is a reason there are no answers from anyone at Nitro Pro - this is not their web page though the "Post a Commend for Nitro PDF PRofessional" might seem to suggest otherwise - You're just being asked to comment ON Nitro PDF Pro - not posting "for" the company or their tech support. This is a reseller's page. As the link on the right above says - go to www.nitropdf.com for the company's web page. PS - I like the product - it has served me well and I find it easy to use.
As to the question above about whether you can point to a bunch of pdf files and have it extract only the first page - I don't know - but I don't think so.

vicente condez I bought Nitro Pro at Fry's on June 19 with $55 dollar rebate. Submitted all required forms, receipt, rebate form and original UPC. I copied everything what I mailed. A month later, received letter from Nitro that original UPC was missing. So, I mailed copy of everything and letter explaining that the original UPC was mailed together with receipt and rebate form. Never got any words or rebate from Nitro. Today is Sept 16, 2010.
