Paragon Software Hi everyone,
The comparison table can be found on the page - http://www.paragon-softwa.../home/brc/ .

unfortunately, we don't have the comparison for free and compact versions.

Little Bear Your description says " Paragon is limiting this discount for the first 10,000 customers"

This totally contradicts Bits Du Jour's mission on selling software where you say you never sell out of anything.

DiggerP Hi , Let me help you out :)

Just out of interest:
For the time being, the Compact edition is already free.
Listing on BDJ is just an extra channel to promote Paragon's products. Nothing wrong with that ;)
I've been a long time user of them ,both paid and free and am quite happy with them.

Comparisons are here:
Paragon Backup & Recovery 11 Compact
http://www.paragon-softwa.../home/brc/
http://www.paragon-softwa...rison.html

Backup & Recovery 2012 Free
http://www.paragon-softwa...rison.html

Difference between Compact 11 and Free 2012 is like this:
Compact has this extra over the 2012 Free version:
File Backup
Encrypted Backup
File Increments
Backup Metafiles
Backup to FTP servers
Easy file backup scheduling
Partition alignment for bare metal restore
Ext3/4FS
Apple HFS+
Latest Linux Kernel Support
Support for USB 3.0
Support for the latest HDD standards
What it doesn't have is Backup Capsule

Notice it has support for Linux ,which may be very useful for people running Linux or for a multi-boot setup (Windows and Linux )

DiggerP Just a simple question:
While the website says it's Free
http://www.paragon-softwa.../home/brc/
there is no download link for it anywhere (at least I can't find it)
nor does it say that the free version can only be gotten through BDJ
Clarification would be most welcome :)

With 100% promotions we give vendor's discretion to put limitations on their promotions. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to offer them at all.

Our 100% discounts are brand new -- we'll update the site accordingly as time goes on. Keep in mind we're a small company with a big site, sometimes we miss things :)

It's just that the website I'm referring to lists it as "Free",

I am still not able to download updates even when they show availability through the program "Help-Update" Hopefully this Feature shall be "Fixed" with this future opportunity bitsdujour.com is promising to offer in the near future. Otherwise this app. seams to be quite reliable with it's new Incremental and Differential features. Thanks bitsdujour.com, and please let us know if updates will be provided into our acct. with Paragon for this app.

Robert Crombie I have an earlier version in my PC, which I don't wish to uninstall, so I will try to get my other PC fixed, and (then) install it there.
I will be using it to create a bootable CD, as I prefer to do these tasks from a bootable CD.
- Does The Linux CD, have all the functionality ?
- If I am late (getting other PC fixed), will I still be able to install it ?
- And related question, must it be internet connected, when I install it ?

Thanks for the giveaway,
Rob
PS There was an earlier Giveawayoftheday for this (Google for it). Those with unanswered questions may find some answers there. (Paragon was very active, in answering questions during that giveaway)

Johno Hi,
is this version able to 'hot' clone (vss) a hard drive ?
By this I mean a full clone so that some one can clone an old hard drive complete with full mbr, boot etc records onto another one, so that the old one can be removed and you run from the new one ?

Is it able to run from a USB drive ?
As an alternative to the clone option above, does it include the ability (instead or as well as) to create a boot cd to and to mount an image and proceed from there ? (to restore a system to a previous state etc.)
Are you able to 'paste' the clone you copied back onto a hard drive that is larger than the one that you copied it from ?
What is the difference between this product and Paragon Backup & Recovery 12 Home ?

Thankyou,
John Storrs.

Ron Walenciak @Louis H: Yes to "support not provided", but which question are you referring to? I don't see "upgrades" as "support", nor do I see answering questions about this product "support", but I supposed others could see it that way. I see "support" as hand holding, figuring out why something can't connect to an ftp site, installation issues, those kind of things.

loving thesixties I already have this version from a previous giveaway so I won't be using one of the 10K licenses set aside for this BDJ offer. To everyone who wants to know about version 2013, the last time I checked their website, it had fewer features than version 12. Again as I recall it, low-numbered versions like 12 are regular full-featured versions for sale, while the ones named after the year are stripped-down, usually from an older regular version, that were specially made just to be given away.

Software Guy Something has gone awry with the postings here, so I will repost:
Paragon sells excellent and solid software for pc backup. They offer a number of choices for different backup needs and this tends to get confusing with their many product offerings. So let me concentrate on backups for home users. We can distill the offerings down to four: compact 29.95$ (free here today) home39.95$ and suite 49.95$ and pro 99.95$. And they have many other products which tends to be confusing without spending lots of time studying the features. But sticking to the theme backup and recovery, each product step gives you more features, some of which you may never need. The feature comparisons are here:
http://www.paragon-softwa...rison.html

and here
http://www.paragon-softwa...fessional/

if you have multiple computers the best deal IMHO offered is here (3 computers using the suite)
http://www.paragon-softwa...fChecked=1

But for basic backups the product given away here, the compact version is ideal.

the complete selectable product feature tool is here (nice information tool - thanks paragon)
http://www.paragon-softwa...Suite&p3=0

And for drive migration to a new laptop/desktop, paragon offers drive copy 12 pro here
http://www.paragon-softwa...fessional/

One more word - Paragon is one of the first to offer a short term discount licensing for special and one time use. I personally think that this is a great idea. They offer a 10 day license to repartition your machine or install a SSD at the reasonable price of 9.95$ here
http://www.paragon-softwa...fChecked=1
Great concept because you are only going to use that software 1 time, so you pay a reduced fee and get the job done. Excellent concept to save the end user some money.

Kimmo Lahtinen I have been using Paragon software for many years and it has been OK. I think the HDM 12 suite is good value for money, but he user interface is little hard to use.

I think I received recently an email that they are preparing next version (14 not 13!), so it would be interesting to know if any buyers for HDM 12 suite are able to get HDM 14 for free?
Nov 7 2013 at 1:46am Copy Link
0
Michael R. I have the same question as Kimmo. As a former happy buyer of HarddiskManager Suite v11, I've seen v12 is now about 1 year on the market, so, regarding the past, I suppose the next version is just around the corner.

So, even if this is a great offer, I see two best possibilities. Either buy today and get the next version for free or wait until I really need it, ie. my v11 can't do what I need to do and than buy an upgrade (to whatever version is out than).

Personally I would prefer the first one, curious as I am...
Nov 7 2013 at 2:38am Copy Link

Chris Carmichael I agree with Software Guy.
Paragon make reliable products, if a little overweight. The user interface of the full editions is formidable, but on this compact edition it is just the opposite - OK for a simple set-and-forget backup system, but the user can't do much more than that (e.g no examination of backups, partial restore, restore to different partitions etc.).
For a great backup alternative, also reliable, try Macrium Reflect Free.

Robert Crombie I do not like Windows running when creating an image.
Thus, I created the bootable CD (Linux), and tried it.
I did not like the default settings -
- If burning to DVD, then split at 2GB
- Don't image all files (Disregards some Windows files)

I worked out how to change those settings, but it then ignored my changes and used the defaults above. TCH! TCH!
I suppose I could live with the 2GB DVD split, as I could image to an external drive instead.
I cannot live with it NOT imaging the whole system, as how in the hades can it do a restore later, if the image does not contain EVERYTHING

Rob
PS I was going to buy the suite, but I would need much more info on what it's bootable CD can and cannot do

conceptualclarity I'm not being allowed to download this. I get the message : "This promotion has been downloaded too many times from this link.

You can download the software by clicking "Get It For Free" button when the promotion is active."

However, I checked my Downloads box on my browser, and this program NEVER downloaded to it. And clicking that button just takes me around in circles getting the same outcome.

H. H. @Robert Crombie
Hallo,
I´m customer of paragon harddisk Suite (boxed german pro Version, nonreduced price) and can highly recommend this software. I never had probems changing the features you describe. I also prefered to make images with a bootable cd and it always worked fine, I never had a problem changing the splitting size or saving to one big file only (tried this up to an image file size of approx 40gb (normal compression). I don´t know if the problem you describe is an issue of the free version offered at bdj or a setting fault. I´d recommend to ask paragon (reliable support) regarding these issues, because getting the whole harddisk suite at 60% really is a great offer.
Paragon Harddisk Suite has been the only Imaging- Software I was able to make a System restore at dissimiliar hardware.

Robert Crombie Thank you H. H.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I will purchase the Suite

Are you using the Linux bootable CD, or were you able to create a WinPE CD ?

Regards,
Rob

H. H. @customers
I personally would highly recommend considering buying the paragon hard disk suite at todays 60% disocunt. To my personal experience paragon hard disk suite is a reliable, very versatile piece of software offering more features than many others for a reasonable price and license policy (also see comment from softwareguy).
My experience and comment mainly refers to making a complete system backup /disk image. I´ve bought several programs and additionaly tested some trial versions.
Having to make a complete system restore on dissimiliar hardware paragon harddisk Suite was the only Imaging-Software that managed this task in my occastion.
At least in my occasion the competitive products Acronis true image plus 2013, Easeus todobackup Workstation 8, FarStone, Langmeier backup 8, or Macrium Reflect 5 failed and I was unable to run the disk image on the new pc with different hardware (of coruse even when using paragon you may have to do some finetuning like correcting bootsector - but paragon has aready builtin tools for this and of course you all hardware footrpinted software has to be reactivated).

Additionally Paragon does not make use of the userunfriendly hardware-footrpinted online activation, which can be of great importance in case you need an urgent backup or recovery So it was impossible for me to use easeus todobackup Workstation for more than 1 week because of activation difficulties (although it was my first Installation and usage - apart from this this software is told to call home every 1-2 weeks), Acronis (for some years a good choice) also requires online activation and has become more buggy, and improvements often require the purchase of a new version. Langmeier backup can be a good choice for mainly files and folders backup purposes, since uncompressed backup of files and foldes is possible, but it is quite slow on disk Imaging.

J J As Lito wrote yesterday, I too would be very interested in the 60% sale for HD Manager 12 PRO version. It has some functions I want that the HD Manager 12 SUITE does not have.

Here is a link to compare the different versions of software. Use the pull down menu to select which ones you want to compare.

Here is the link to compare the Backup & Recovery Compact vs regular version.

Michael S I have tried many times to download the software from the link provided in my email and it keeps throwing an error and not completing. Now I am getting a message saying that it has been downloaded too many times from the link provided and wants me to do the promotion over again. I try to do the promotion over again and of course it won't let me. What can I do so I can get the software? Thanks

H. H. @ Peter R
perhaps you may read this link, paragon offers 2 different Solutions:
http://www.paragon-softwa...-builders/

at the german homepage there are 3 solutions mentioned, but I don´t know if that´s uptodate:
http://support.paragon-so...d&langid=1

as far as I can remember (building the bootable media is several months ago), I decided to install the required software, built the bootable media, tested it and then deinstalled the additional software

Barry Potter Paragon Backup & Recovery 12 Compact (13)

I created a bootable disk which seems to function fine on my Win7 desktop but doesn't seem to work on my Win 8.1 Laptop. Any thoughts
