What are people saying about Paragon Rescue Kit 11 Professional

disenchanted I have an older version, V8.5 on a bootable CD.

The boot CD allows you to boot up and run the recovery utilities.
Reset a user password, recovery data, etc.

Since only a free version is available as a demo for V10, I had a couple questions

1. is the full V10 version an ISO file that lets you create a boot cd?

2. is there an option to build a boot usb drive?

Paragon Software Hello Frank!

Full version comes as exe file that allows to burn bootable CD or extract ISO file. You can burn ISO file to USB f;lash if you have a tool for that. Also we have an updated version of burning tool, so if you extremely need it on USB flash drive, we can provide you on request with that updated burner tool.

Joe Doe What is your licensing model for a private user here? Do you allow to use PRK10 Pro on all home computers, with no time limitation?

Paragon Software Hello Joe,
In accordance with our licensing policy you can use a technical license on an unlimited number of workstations / home computers. After a period of technical license expires, you will be able to use Rescue Kit 10 on one computer.

Paragon Software Hello Carlos,

to get updated burner tool please contact Paragon Support directly:
http://kb.paragon-software.com/webform

Paragon-155 file is of Hard Disk Manager 2010, not of Rescue Kit. Are you sure you use matching product key and serial number of Hard Disk Manager? Also please try using copy-paste method (CTRL-C and CTRL-V) instead of typing.

Francis Pillow So is this a 1 yr Technician license but otherwise similar to tools on HD MGR suite with addition of server?

Paragon Software Hi,
The Technical license allows to use Paragon Rescue Kit 10 Professional on an unlimited number of workstations and up to 10 servers during a year.

Staley I wanted this... I mean really wanted this... but then realizes it's a lot of money for only being able to use it for a year. Since I would not be using it in a company setting, and only on my personally owned computers. Maybe limited family and friends, once in a great while...

I looked on the product's website, but didn't see any other licensing options. Like a perpetual license personal/home license (non-commercial)?

Paragon Software Hi Andrew,
Rescue Kit 10 Pro includes only one type of license - Tech license. This license doesn't allow to use the product after the license expires even you plan to use it only on one computer.

Roberto license is quite restrictive

Staley @Pavel,
"This license doesn't allow to use the product after the license expires even you plan to use it only on one computer."

That's exactly what I was saying... I wanted to know simply...
"Rescue Kit 10 Pro includes only one type of license."

As I completely understood the license being offered and agree with Roberto, that it's really restrictive for the price.

Frank Stephens To the people complaining about the license terms, whether it's restrictive is relative. If you have numerous computers, it's not bad at all. If you have a few computers, like a home user, then I can see where people wouldn't like the one-year restriction on something which they may never use. A possible alternative would be ShadowProtect Desktop. It's not cheap, but you're getting a complete backup product (the full product is licensed per-computer). After purchase, the Recovery Environment can be used on any computer. It has two different WinPE environments and fits on a single CD (or DVD, USB flash drive, etc.). It has automated and manual repair and recovery options. Updates expire after a year, but you may continue to use what you have. Documentation for the Recovery Environment:

Lupke Brother I'm using Paragon Harddisk Manager 2011 professional. If I see the screenshots, most of PRK 11 functions are implemented in PHDM 11am I right? Or does PRK does have functions that are not available in PHDM?

bill william Earlier vendor comments about license are contradictory:
"Pavel Astafurov Hello Joe,
In accordance with our licensing policy you can use a technical license on an unlimited number of workstations / home computers. After a period of technical license expires, you will be able to use Rescue Kit 10 on one computer."

but then:
"Pavel Astafurov Hi Andrew,
Rescue Kit 10 Pro includes only one type of license - Tech license. This license doesn't allow to use the product after the license expires even you plan to use it only on one computer."

So WHICH statement is TRUE??? -- can or cannot use it on one computer after one year?

Paragon Software Hi All,
To Lupke - HDM Pro includes all functionality of RK Pro excepting password cleaner feature. More information about this function please read on product's page.

To Bill - Sorry for the double insight and confusion. According to the licensing, you CANNOT use the product after the expiration of the license, even on a single PC.

SoftCollector @Pavel Astafurov

1. Well, I have never heard of a license that expires like that - with the exception of antivirus products and firewalls. Why is this needed? I hope more clarification can be provided.

2. If the only difference between HDM Pro and RK Pro is the password cleaner function, then why is there a $50 price difference between the two?

Kind regards,
SC

Paragon Software Hi,

This product comes with a special technical license that allows to manage an unlimited number of workstations and up to 10 servers. Therefore this license is limited by the terms of use.
Additional information about the license we can find on product's page.

Churru Pipi Sorry to say that this type offers all you do is waste time. Who would think to put a time limit on a program like this? Better not buy it.

Jason Howard "This product comes with a special technical license that allows to manage an unlimited number of workstations and up to 10 servers"

So this is software on a fixed 12 month lease. I can see why some companies might decide to purchase software that way.

As for individuals looking for a utility to add to their software library/toolbox - I can understand why they would see this as a complete waste of time - especially if they are purchasing it only as an insurance policy that they might (hopefully) not need or actually use over the next 12 months).

M M I connected a 3TB drive to XP using your GPT Loader (GOTD version, if I remember properly). I put just one large 3TB partition on it. It worked fine for some time, but suddenly it disappeared from Windows, which could not see anything on it, nor Win7 via USB dock (which works with other 3TB disks). I rebuild MBR and now it sees an unformatted partition. I hoped to fix it with HDM which was offered short time ago, but there was nothing to help me. I am going to ask for a refund, but before I do so, I would like to ask if the PRO version, or this Rescue Kit could be of any help in this case?

Software Guy This is a technicians recovery license for use by people who routinely service different computers. IMHO, this is not the best choice of software because of the license terms for home users. Though the software is very good, there are other products ( in this case meaning licensing terms) targeted toward the home user who has fewer computers to maintain. Those products allow use of the software for longer terms on one or a small number of computers.
For a technican or someone who maintains multiple computers on a network, this is a great deal.

Brian H Software Guy- I was thinking of purchasing this- but I do NOT need to service a large number of computers. Would you please offer me some advice as to which product might be a better option for me (consumer), even if it is another program that Paragon offers, or not. I am new to tech issues and HD recovery/maintenance software, but am really enjoying learning how to best manage my system and what the best products to use might be. Thanks, in advance, for any advice you might be able to offer. I have really enjoyed learning (and benefiting!) from other, more knowledgeable member’s advice and recommendations on this website. And I love BDJ and the incredible discounts they offer!

Software Guy One of the nicest maintenance programs is from Paragon, and they have 3 variants here:
http://www.paragon-softwa...oads/home/
Now, they do periodically offer different versions on BDJ. Paragon is easy to recommend as they have solid backup solutions.
There are many excellent solutions, some of which have been offered here on BDJ. But my favorite programs is Casper because it is so easy. (yes, Paragon, Acronis, Disk Image, CMS and others have similar software - but Casper is the friendly version of programs like Norton ghost!).
Just get an external drive with the same type and size (or bigger)drive that you wish to bachup - meaning either EIDE or SATA. Then get an external enclosure with a USB connector. Now install Casper and image your drive. It does incremental backups too. The beauty is when your hard drive crashes, you just take out of the case the backup drive, install it in your computer and you are back up and running. You may even be able to boot directly from the USB drive if your BIOS supports it. No rescue disks are needed.
Remember that most desktops are 3.5 inch HDs, and laptops are 2.5 - and get the correct enclosure.
Casper can be found here: http://casper-xp.com/

This is an expensive solution BUT a lifesaver when you need to swap the HD. It becomes money well spent at that time.

I am sure other users have other creative backup and disaster recovery solutions. It would be great to hear from them.

Goran Janevski I have to agree with the others, this offer ignores the consumer market.

What consumers need is a version which is good for 2 or 3 computers, and never expires.

Since when Paragon software expires?? What's next? You'll put it in the cloud??

It is very unfortunate, because Paragon makes rock-solid, useful software.

Disappointed, and not buying

Warren Russell Paragon offers several seemingly similar products that overlap in functionality, including Rescue Kit, Hard Disk Manager, and Backup & Recovery, but I don't see any features comparisons between the different product lines.

I already have a backup solution, so I am interested only in recovery features (when I can't restore from backup). Can anyone tell me which product I need?

Software Guy Best suggestion is Backup and Recovery 10 suite which has all of the backup and recovery tools. An alternative is Hard Disk Manager 2011 suite and use it to backup or clone your drive. A 3 user license is $59.95 (promotional price). Both are very extensive backup and recovery solutions. '

'Best value to do what you want from paragon is backup and recovery 10 home with a promotional price of $19.95.

Easiest automated backup solution from Paragon is System Backup which is here: http://www.paragon-softwa...tembackup/ at $29.95

Hope that helps.

SoftCollector I use Norton Ghost. Before buying it 2 years ago I tried both Acronis and Paragon. Acronis messed up my partitions on 1 occasion and Paragon on 2. It could have been sth specific to my system, etc., but the fact remains: I cannot trust a solution of this kind if it does not work EVERY time. Backup and restoring of partitions is very important and it better be done error-free.

disenchanted I missed the sale,bummer.

I am still using an older version 8.5 rescue kit.

Program works well for getting back into a pc when you lost/forgot your password.
Boot via cd, chose the OS, find the account names that are present on the pc.
Choose one [or more] and the rescue kit resets it for you.
Has worked well on windows XP home, XP Pro, vista.
Haven't tested version 8.5 on win 7 yet.
