Daniel Kamman Windows 10 is not listed under Platforms on BitsDuJour or on http://www.pixeluvo.com/features/ -- Will it work on Windows 10 (which is what I have)?

Daniel Kamman Thanks for your quick reply that Pixeluvo works on Windows 10. I downloaded the trial and find it interesting (plus it gets great reviews/comments online).

On January 27, 2015 your wrote in part "there are things Pixeluvo can do that Photoshop can't and vice versa"

To help me evaluate Pixeluvo, it would be great to have a list of "things Pixeluvo can do that Photoshop can't".

I'm interested in color adjustments, rather than effects such as Light Glow and Film Grain. My need is to adjust colors in images of acrylic paintings, jewelry, and perhaps other crafts. I currently use Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop Elements 14, along with Digital Light & Color's Color Mechanic Pro. I'm hoping that Pixeluvo would add color adjustment capabilities beyond what I can do now. I don't expect you to know in detail what those 3 can do, but a comparison with Photoshop in general would be helpful.

Andy Gill Ok, sure.
You can find all the color adjustments in the Color menu. First up there's the Quick Color filter, which allows you to choose from a selection of preset adjustments (kind of like instagram) - may not be that useful for you if you're into fine control, but it can be handy if you're in a rush!
Then you have staples like you would find in most applications - things like vibrance, hue/saturation, curves, levels etc. These work exactly like photoshop (and other apps) for the most part - the exception being that the curves filter also allows you to adjust the saturation, making it extremely powerful for pretty much any kind of color adjustment, if you're in to that level of control.

Then there are some that you won't find in Photoshop like temperature, split tone and cross process (although temperature and split tone do appear in Photoshop's RAW importer, but not in the main app).
The threshold filter also has more options that Photoshop's version, allowing you to create softer and more stylized looks.

All the color filters are usable as adjustment layers too, so you can keep your edits non-destructive.

Glen Hilton Hello Andy, nice fast alternative image editor. Any way of saving user defined brush options ? Also no drawing tool (line/arrow), it would be a useful addition.

Andy Gill Sadly there isn't currently any way to save user presets for the brushes I'm afraid. Yes I agree that support for vector shapes would be very useful, I've been wanting to add it for while - hopefully it will make it into a future release at some point.

Glen Hilton Thanks Andy, Pixeluvo looks like a really good option for quick image editing without unnecessary bloatware used with some of the full featured editors. Look forward to the deal and hope you'll have time to implement a few more user suggestions including basic drawing tools in a later update.
