What are people saying about Plagiarism Checker X 2023 Professional Edition

Mark Hildman Is there a time limit on installation and activation? And is the transfer of a license to another owned computer allowed?
Apr 6 2014 at 12:27am Copy Link

Richard Kevin Your license remains valid for the lifetime. You can also get 1 year FREE updates. So, there is not time limit.

Richard Kevin And yes you can transfer the license. But remember, one license cannot be used on multiple machines at the same time.

Cary Adams Help me understand what I'm doing wrong... I copied the 3 paragraphs above (below the "Get This Deal" button) and pasted them into the "Large Content" box under "Online Plagiarism". When I Analyze in "Auto" mode, no plagiarism is found. When I use Google, I get results referring back to this page.

I repeated this with an online forum I frequent, and observed the same. No results under "Auto", but a high degree of plagiarism under "Google".

FWIW, Bing returned no results in either sample.

What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't "Auto" pickup what Google sees, and why is Bing failing to find anything?

I like what you're offering here, but something seems amiss.

George Butel Do you use a machine ID for software activation? The reason I wonder is that I revert to old images fairly regularly--it's easier than wondering what is wrong or trying to fix it--using Macrium Reflect, and, since your program is not in any of my "base" images, I would have to reactivate every time I revert back to an older image. If you use a machine ID, or else if you have a "remove license" feature, that would be no problem. Some programs that I would otherwise like I have grown to hate over the years because of the hassle of reactivating on the same machine. Even upgrades of the OS might make reactivation difficult.

Richard Kevin @Crazy Adams - You are not doing wrong anywhere. As you you know Google results are indexed more quickly than BING, that's why you are getting the difference in results for both engines. As for as auto option is concerned, It was designed to choose the search engine automatically based on the algorithm. Perhaps, BING was chosen, that's why your bucket was empty.

And lastly, Thank you so much for appreciating the discount offer :)

Cary Adams @Richard... Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I realize that Google may update its search index more rapidly than Bing, that's why I ALSO chose a much older forum source to test... to rule out the "newness" of this BDJ page.

I think your Bing setup is faulty. To test it more directly I went into Bing and searched for "salvation". The first result was from Wikipedia. I copied a paragraph directly from the Bing Wikipedia link and pasted it into your program. Again the Bing search found no resources where Google was quick to locate the Wikipedia references. Why?

I also suggest that your "Auto" search engine algorithm is faulty. If it indeed chose Bing to start with, it should have looked at Google when it found zero resources at Bing. If I was doing a plagiarism check manually, that is certainly how I would do it.

I also question why, in light of your comment that Google updates its indexes more quickly than Bing, that it would be the preferred search engine for "Auto".

Another question... Does this program also search Google Scholar and Google Books?

BTW, my name is Cary, not "Crazy Adams" as you posed in your reply.

Brian Crane I'm an author - I found the download trial didn't even flag up a short passage from my online book, which when copied to another source like your 'Checker X' is plagiarism. So not for me. Grammarly is far superior, fast and accurate and did recognise the short passage as coming from my book.

I know the price was attractive, but for a professional writer this prog falls well short. Thanks for the opportunity to try.

George Butel @RichardPaul: yes, this is the right page. I'm not inquiring about software features, but about its activation, which is something that I try to find out about for any piece of software I might consider using. A few companies still use full-featured install programs separate from the trial, i.e., which do not require activating, even though a trial version might be available and could be updated to the full version. Most software requires activation one way or another, sometimes via an emailed activation key for non-internet activations. But if you install the program, activate it, then have to restore your computer one way or another to a time before you installed that program, you will have to reinstall it, and, obviously, reactivate it. The reactivation is a huge hassle in such situations with some vendors.
Apr 6 2014 at 12:19pm Copy Link
0
Richard Kevin @George. Thank you for sharing your concerns. Well, its a simple process. After the purchase, You will be emailed product key. by using it, your trial version will be automatically converted into the full version.

Product need to be activated just once. You don't need to reactivate it when you switch your machine. So, the process is completely systematic and hassle free.

Richard Kevin @Cary Adams: BING result totally depends on its own algorithm. Its pretty hard to say now why this happens with the BING but all I can say is, it has its own methodologies for indexing the results just like the Google but their crawling methods and time can vary.

And thanks for your recommendations :)

George Butel @Richard Paul--I don't think you understand. A system image is a complete copy of my system the way it was at some time in the past. The way life is with Windows, my life is easier if I make occasional copies and revert whenever Windows stops functioning the way I want. I don't have to worry about what's wrong, or go sleepless trying to fix Windows, the way I did in the past. Right at this moment, I have a Macrium image made on 2/17/14, and a Windows Image Backup made on 3/27/14--among other, older, images. Things are bound to go wrong with Windows sooner or later; they always do. If I restore a byte-for-byte image of the way my system was, then I immediately have to re-update all the antimalware programs, do the Windows updates, update all the other programs that need updating, such as Java and Flash, and then reinstall whatever I've done in the interim. In other words, this is the identical machine, identical hardware, identical everything--except that it does not "know" your program any more. I have to reinstall it and any other programs that I might have purchased. When I do that, I'll have to reactivate it--assuming that your program requires "calling home" to your servers in order to give it full functionality, which is the way most software companies operate these days. This is not switching machines, it's the identical machine, with the identical hardware, completely reverted to a time in the past; even system restore would require reinstallation and activation, but restoration of an image is often preferable to using system restore. Different companies have different philosophies regarding reinstalls like that. I don't have any trouble with Sony Sound Forge or Vegas, for instance. With Adobe, you have to deactivate the license first if you can, since they limit the number of reinstallations. With Nuance's Omnipage, PDF Converter, etc., you should uninstall first before you do anything, since that will send a message to their servers that you are deactivating their program. "Little" companies, though, usually cause the most problems. I haven't been able to get Easy Duplicate Finder reactivated, for instance; I liked their program. The company I had the most trouble with, starting a long time ago, was the one that makes Image Converter Plus. I may as well have thrown my money in the garbage can as to have dealt with them, so I ended up having to use more complex programs, such as Adobe's, to do even simple tasks. I do like WebMinds software also; they're a "little" company, but I haven't had any trouble with them.

Cary Adams @Richard... I, like others here, would hope for a more exact explanation to the questions we ask. I don't see that anyone here is being moved towards becoming customers. That's unfortunate, because those of us who have posted on this board earnestly want PCX to succeed because there is a need for a tool like this, and we are hopeful that PCX might meet our needs.

While I appreciate your effort to respond, either you have skimmed our questions, ignoring much of what we asked, or perhaps your background is less in the area of software design, and more towards marketing. If the latter is true I think it would be most helpful to have your software developer here with your to respond to the BDJ community. If features requested are unavailable, we'd like to know the roadmap for their implementation.

Thank you.

Richard Blake R Paul, Please click [THE FINE PRINT] link: "Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 12 months." Most of us understand the word upgrade to mean a new build that receives a change in major version number, while update means change in minor (after the first dot) version number. BdJ care to clarify?

Jim Shewchuk One item that arose in previous comments, posted by "Eugene User" (on Dec 20, 2014), has never been answered: Is your software capable of checking foreign languages that require the use of unicode characters? (In that commenter's case it was Russian "cryllic" characters, in my case, it's Japanese "kanji" characters)

Google has no problem searching in foreign languages (at the web-interface level at least) provided the searches are in UTF-8 coding, but alas, that sort of foresight is unfortunately not a standard programming practice.
Jan 17 2015 at 9:43pm Copy Link
0
Richard Kevin @Jim - You are right that sort of foresight is unfortunately not a standard programming practice. But still, we have plans to extend language support with maximum number of languages. And we are already started working on Russian and Japanese as well. You will see the changes in coming editions.

However, at the moment Software does support 7 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese.

Jim Shewchuk While this can still be a useful tool, the evolution of the 'net is rapidly making it increasingly less so. This is because dynamically generated webpages (commonly used for blogs - Wordpress is one example) below the top level rarely get indexed. The contents of the "forum" pages at Doremi-fansubs.com for example cannot be found on the search engines, even though the "Guess that Anime!!" topic alone fills 133 pages so far. If offending text is from one of those non-indexed links, this tool will fail to catch it. The stated method also fails to account for properly cited quotes.

It was blind misuse of a program similar to this that last year led to "Trunk Archive" falsely accusing 2600 magazine of copyright infringement over what was actually a public domain image. (http://www.2600.com/conte...-splotches)

Petr I purchased Plagiarism Checker X 2022 Pro Edition in July of 2022. Sadly, it did not work well (especially when compared to online web based plagiarism checkers). So, your software has been shelf-ware.

Do I get a free upgrade, since the 2022 version was useless?
