Steven Avery Hi Folks,

I purchased PowerCmd on a previous Bits and, although I am not a heavy user at all, I am pleased with its simplicity and function. Alleviating the clunky "shell to DOS' experience. There is an ongoing email forum and I looked at the alternatives and decided this one was top-tier. If you do any signfiicant "cmd" or "" type stuff from "Start-Run" like an FTP thing or a bunch of traces or whatevers (techies can give dozens of examples) and want cut-and-paste and good control and nice use .. this program is very fine.

Michael R From time to time, when I am stuck with a batch-file of mine, I am looking for an (affordable) program, helping me to debug batch-files.

As far as I know COMMAND.COM in former times (before XP) did support a debug-function with the option /Y, allowing single-tracing through a batch-file.

Does your command-replacement-tool has a similar mechanism helping to debug batch-programs?

In combination with your existing displaying of the current environment-vars (and =ExitCode). If for example using keys like F7 to single step and trace into batch-subcallings (e.g. 'CALL my_prg.bat'), F8 to execute line without tracint into, and F4 to continue program without further tracing would be a great help (and I suppose would be enhance your program substantially).

Thank you,

Paul Chang Hi Michael,

It's a very nice feature, but unfortunately PowerCmd are not able to support it. I'm sorry for that.

Mark Hill Wow!I was really not expecting PowerCmd to install let alone run on my 64-bit Vista Enterprise. The install was flawless and the program runs a treat. It makes life so much easier .

DrTeeth Very nice offer. However, website gives latest version as 2.1'new' (not dated) and the site's copyright notice is 'til has development stalled? Also, there is no licence policy on this page or the site.

bob roos It is worth the money just to be able to Ctrl-V directly into the command line!!

Joshua Cowan Maybe I'm just not familiar with the new BdJ site, or maybe I'm missing it because I'm visiting the site on my phone, but I don't see any upgrade or licensing policy information. Does this software require activation? Hardware fingerprint? Can I install it on both my desktop and my laptop at the same time? How much do major upgrades cost?

Bob Levy can This be run in Admin mode?
Jan 16 2011 at 10:51pm Copy Link
Wayne Hamilton I have this product.

I've never had an updated version and my one request for support went unanswered so I guess this product is virtually dead.
Jan 17 2011 at 1:02am Copy Link
DrTeeth I assume BdJ must talk to somebody when a program is offered here.

The danger signs are on the website and posted here.

Nico Westerdale Joshua, The Policy info is optional and this vendor has not entered it, it usually appears as a tab on the right side. Yes we always talk to vendors to run a promotion, there is simply no other way that we can get the discounts. Sometimes vendors are available to answer questions, sometimes not, and if you want to discuss that side of things we have a forum thread all about it:
BitsDuJour Admin - Jan 17 2011 at 5:00am Copy Link
Benny Sun The price goes up per unit, if you try to buy more then 1. Can you buy more then 1 at the $9.95 price or do you have to do multiple orders? Thanks.

paul crousel Hi, I am not an expert on cmd. So in windows 7 pro 32 bits when I go to cmd I see that i am on c:\windows\system32 then I check powercmd then i am on D:\program files\powercmd, is this because i installed powercmd on drive D? why its not the same then cmd.
Jan 17 2011 at 6:35am Copy Link
DrTeeth The policy info should be obligatory...the lack of the info is another disincentive to buy.
Jan 17 2011 at 7:30am Copy Link
Roger Thomasson @ Guy

This promotion came together at the *extreme* last minute. We had a space that needed filling ASAP and the vendor was kind enough to oblige us. We weren't able to get the policy information inserted in time. I'm sorry for your frustration, but these things happen!

BitsDuJour Admin - Jan 17 2011 at 7:43am Copy Link
DrTeeth Hi Nico,

Thanks for the clarification, but you did not indicate any haste in setting up the deal above.

"The Policy info is optional and this vendor has not entered it..." seems a tad unfair to the vendor, as it makes it look as if he could not be bothered...which is why I posted.
Jan 17 2011 at 7:54am Copy Link
Nico Westerdale No worries Guy... Perceptions can be deceptive. User icons are optional too, I know you don't have one but we know you're a regular Bitster! :-p
BitsDuJour Admin - Jan 17 2011 at 10:11am Copy Link
bvssunnydale Hi, per previous question, can I install single license on laptop & home cpu? Many thanks.
Jan 17 2011 at 12:01pm Copy Link
DrTeeth Hi Nico,

As you can see, I have opted into the user icon...pity they are so small. Who says size does not matter LOL?
