What are people saying about Professional Doxplore

anthonyraynor? Seems kind of expensive for what it is. I get a lot of this in Evernote combined with a few free products.

Tomas Barth I have Outlook Exchange in which I have plenty of subfolders for archiving emails. I use it together with Quick-File from Standss.com, which with a click of a button moves emails to predefined folders.
My question is if I can use Professional Doxplore as a complement for finding emails, or if Professional Doxplore rearranges the folders in Outlook.
Thank you.

Dilip Varma Professional Doxplore helps archive MS Outlook emails and creates the same folder structure in Outlook and allows users to apply multiple real world classification (properties) to search emails in an instant, apart from usual criteria like content , sender etc.

Tomas Barth I´k afraid I don´t understand the reply. What does "creates the same folder structure in Outlook" mean? Is it the same structure that Outlook has as a standard installation with Inbox, Outbox, Deleted items etc?
I have thousands of emails sorted in folders like "Vendors, Customers, Marketing" etc. Will these folders be lost and everything mixed together if I install Doxplore? Or will these folders be kept, and Doxplore adds additional searchability to my email?
Thanks.

Dilip Varma Professional Doxplore gives ability to sync outlook mails in doxplore storage folder. The sync process wont make any change to outook mails or folder structure. Instead, it will copy all mails from inbox, sent items and personal folders with their respective folder structure in doxplore storage. Once synced, you can search from cotent, to/from, subject, date fields of the mails. On top of all you can classify (multiple) these mails which gives additional dimension to your search.

Edward Smith "Instead, it will copy all mails from inbox, sent items and personal folders with their respective folder structure in doxplore storage."

I have a 4gig ost file and several fairly large pst files. Doxplore will import all of this AND my document files too into some internal Doxplore file for indexing? Just how large a file will this be (or am I missing something here)?

DroidLuvr I have the same question as Edward...

The last thing I need is one more program that "copies" all of my info into some type of proprietary database. I don't really have the extra disk space for that, but if it would be more like "collecting" all my archived .pst's and documents into a more searchable format, that might be worth considering...

However, I do have a concern with the price as well; could you maybe give a link that lists all the features and how they can help?

Dilip Varma Edward , DroidLuvr
The documents and emails are not stored in any proprietary database or internal Doxplore file at all.
1) All documents are imported into your storage folder in their original format.
2) Emails are also similarly stored in .msg format

Edward Smith DroidLuvr - I downloaded the trial. It does indeed copy files to a new location, so you better be prepared to have a lot of extra disk space. It does give the option to delete the original file.

Therefore this is not for me. Too bad really, the interface is nice and seems very well laid out and well thought out.

Jul 19 2013 at 5:54pm Copy Link

0

Dilip Varma Edward. We recommend the following 1. Select the option to delete document from original location in import setting and bulk import , this would mean not taking a single extra byte of space yet organising your docs and having ability to instantly locate them. 2. You may delete the imported emails from outlook as emails and docs are independent of our app unlike other softwares yet benefit from a powerful search app including classification. Thanks

Edward Smith After playing with this a little, I saw enough promise that I might have considered purchasing even at this very high price . . . that was until I read the following . . .

"Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed" AND
"Email license activation is required with a hardware footprint, and 1 installation per footprint"

If I upgrade to a new computer I have to buy another license? This is a misprint?

I would never buy a program under these conditions.

Dilip Varma Hi Edward.

This is an oversight. You can transfer your license to another owned PC/laptop, all you need to do is email us at doxplore

noveline.co.in when you upgrade to a new computer and you dont need to buy a new license so long as you use 1 license in 1 computer. And you can also reinstall the software on it unlimited number of times and the application gets reactivated

Yvonne Renfrew Although this otherwise looks great, there are two deal-breakers:

1-Creation of additional copy of ALL data to be indexed; and

2-EVEN WORSE, so far as I can tell (at least absent compounding the data duplication/copying problem even further) this application affords no access to files or email stores maintained on network or NAS drives.

If I am wrong about this, I would sure like to find out right away.

If, however, those "cons" are genuine, then this strikes me as not really ready for prime time.

Dilip Varma Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for your comment

As I have mentioned in my reply to other comments. In import settings choose
Delete from original location and documents are moved. You also have the same option in case of Bulk Import and we also recommend the same. So there is not a single byte extra or duplication if you follow this. You can also bulk import your existing structure and choose to move it. This will ensure your documents are organised and searchable by multiple paramaters including classification in an 'instant'

What we do in Doxplore is give the user the power to choose. For eg he may have a situation where he does not want a move and we dont enforce it !

The product in Doxplore range are powerful yet simple to usemeant for managing documents and emails in your individual PC and not a client server application

Ed Ward Trialing Doxplore now... documentation is fairly limited.

Does Doxplore allow one to assign multiple values of a property (e.g., multiple keywords)? If so, how is that done? I've set up the property and added two values - however, program only appears to permit assigning one value.

Dilip Varma Hi Ed Ward, Please refer to the help file in the application and video in the link below
http://www.doxplore.com/D...#profVideo
The properties are used for classification of files. For eg you can set a single document/email as Document Priority = High or Low or Medium
and Author = Jim/Sam/Peter and Client = ABC/PQR and so on. In this way Doxplore supports multiple classification and multi criteria search. Please feel free to email me at dilipsvarma

noveline.co.in for any query too.

DroidLuvr After thoroughly reviewing the details and the Q&A here, I have found that the 2 drawbacks I can't get around are the duplication of data; while I understand that you can delete the originals, I am never willing to do that on a program I haven't thoroughly used and trust [no offense!]
Secondly, the inability to use a file server setup (although that's definitely a glorified name for my desktop with a couple of external drives...) from my laptop is the final dealbreaker.

IMHO, for this price (even the discounted price), recognizing and using mapped network drives is an absolute Must! I truly think this is a potentially wonderful program, but just not ready yet, especially at the "network-ready" price range for such programs.

Dilip Varma Hi DoridLuvr,
1) The files are moved in the original state so there to a folder in your disk and this is what differentiates us from competition as we concentrate on instant and efficient search and dont alter your storage by a database on any other means.
This is the dealmaker for majority of our customers!

2) This is a product to manage the individual documents and emails, notes, reminders and online identities of a user and not a client server application and it is by design and we cater to this segment

3) We are close to releasing a client server setup called Enterprise Doxplore but it will be for a minimum of 5 users

Thanks
Dilip

Dev G Hi --
Looks like a great product, and I'm definitely looking for a doc manager/desktop dashboard.
That said, I've learned over time that I really need to be able to have non-white *page* backgrounds for a long-term, daily use, main interface. So, my top question:
Can user change the background or *page* colors of the dashboard? I understand opening specific documents would reflect the *page* color of those docs in the native WIn program, like MSWORD, for instance.

My other question:
Because we use Thunderbird email and gmail exclusively, we need a desktop dashboard/file explorer/doc manager that will work with those. So, Any plans to integrate these widely used emails, please?

Thank you for your time. I really hope we can work with this promising software!
D

Dilip Varma Hi @Dev G

Thanks for the encouraging words. It makes it worth the effort

1) If the background is to be user configurable then it involves considerable development time which we can look at in a future upgrade. If its a specific color preference then that can be customized faster.

2) As of now we have begun with MS Outlook. My team is looking at adding other popular email client integration but frankly as of now I cant commit a time frame

Thanks once again. You can email me too at dilipsvarma@noveline.co.in

Regards
Dilip
