cyanic Ah, a Python course. Although I'm a C# developer, I might as well pick up Python in the case I need to read it at some point, and to see how well you guys teach things.

@BearPup: Python is free, and from the curriculum it looks like they'll walk you through how to set it up.

Jul 19 2014 at 4:59pm Copy Link

BearPup @cyanic: Thanks for the info and reassurance. Guess it wouldn't make much sense to run a course on theoretical programming! Grin.

Watcher1924 I have purchased the deal here at BDJ but I was asking if we have to sign up at your site today. Could you, please, make this clear?

Jul 22 2014 at 11:14pm Copy Link

Mark Lassoff @Watcher I am a little confused by your question. This is a free deal-- nothing to purchase. When you sign up it should take you through the registration process.

LearnToProgram Media, Inc. - Jul 23 2014 at 5:16am Copy Link

cyanic @Mark Lassoff: I think Watcher1924 is asking if he can register on your site at a later date. As it stands, BDJ is only sending a registration link with the coupon code in it, and as such people are dealing with two different systems. It isn't clear if the code expires when the BDJ offer expires.

Jul 23 2014 at 6:17am Copy Link

Mark Lassoff Gotcha @cyanic. We'll keep registration open until the end of July, so everyone will have till then to actually enroll using the link. Thanks!

Watcher1924 Thank you very much, @cyanic.

@Mark Lassoff, thanks. By "purchased" I mean I have gone through the steps of getting the deal here at BDJ. This is a term that BDJ uses for the deals you have taken (even if they were of a 100% discount); it appears in the icons of the products.

If we create an account at LearnToProgram Media, Inc. site, until when can we use this product?

GENE User I tried to download Programming for Absolute Beginners, but received a message that the site could not find it and showed me a page of the items available. It was available on that page, but when I tried to download it again I was told I already had downloaded it. Can you help? Thanks.

Jul 9 2015 at 10:35am Copy Link

Mark Lassoff @GENE User The course is streamed-- Not downloaded. (We've had problems with IP theft in the past). If you've successfully created your account and signed up via Bits du Jour, you can log in to our LearnToProgram.tv site and access your class through the "My Courses" option at the top of the screen.

Let me know if you need further support.

Jim Buchanan Ok, I have the sofeware and had to use my gmail account because Bits has a hard time with my regular account. Not the problem
So I am at the second video trying to get an account at Koding.com but it doesn't match the video so I did something wrong. Not the problem.
So I decide to make a comment under the video. i put in my comment and it wants me to sign in. 1st Problem - I thought I was already signed in because I was watching the video. 2nd Problem - I then tried Discus or whatever it is to sign in and can't because I already have another email account being used there.
So - How does one sign up to the Koding.com using Github.
Now I know you are not the prof but this is where I leave this 'new' offer today - just frustrated. try to follow instructions with an old video doesn't work for me - sorry.

Jul 10 2015 at 12:24pm Copy Link

Mark Lassoff @jim They have updated Koding.com since we filmed this course The changes, however, are cosmetic and your code will run identically.

LearnToProgram Media, Inc. - Jul 10 2015 at 3:28pm Copy Link

Father Richard Not too impressed. Signed up for this course a while back and it required me to set up accounts, one paid, with other services that provided nothing an absolute beginner will need for a long time that can't be supplied by free windows programs easily available. I went to Udemy and had better results. Why learn some linux, and the controls for two other services (and spend more money) then start an "Absolute Beginners" course. It felt like step sales to me. You got this, now you need that.

james User i signed uo for the free course and I get to the enrollment page but when I click onthe click to enroll button nothing happens. If I scroll down the page and click on one of the individual sessions I get the "Lecture is locked" message and cannot see the course. Can you please help me out? Thanks.

Jul 10 2015 at 11:52pm Copy Link

Mark Lassoff @Father Richard Sorry you feel that way. Nothing in the course requires you to spend any money. I wanted to make that clear. Koding.com is a free service (at the level required by the course) which gives you a virtual linux machine to work with. Not everyone has Windows, and I wanted to get the participants working in a level below the actual operating system.

Why learn some linux? Because in many programming environments you don't have a GUI operating system like Windows or OSX. Believe it or not, most programming is done OUTSIDE Windows.

This course is also on Udemy where it's $59 and very highly rated. I wish you had taken more time to look at the course content-- It sounds like you looked at the setup, decided you didn't like Linux and left a poor review.

BitsDuJour Admin - Jul 16 2015 at 3:09am Copy Link

Brenda Gann I got this but I did not get the email. When I tried to reload the page so I could request that the email be sent again, the page would not load. I tried many times before the deal was over. How do I get this?

Jul 30 2016 at 1:14pm Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Brenda Gann, I went to your purchases page:
https://www.bitsdujour.co.../purchases
but did not notice a purchase for this product. This means that you didn't participate in this promotion with the BitsDuJour account you used to post the above message. If you have another BitsDuJour account which you used to participate in this promotion, please send us at notify@bitsdujour.com the email address of that other account.

BitsDuJour Admin - Jul 30 2016 at 2:03pm Copy Link

Brenda Gann I know I did it because when I tried to reload the page or something, it came up and said I had already got the product. If I needed to have the email resent to click this link. But then the site started having issues and I couldn't get back to the link before the promotion was over.

I will send an email.
