What are people saying about Reason Core Security

Jeff Usher Don't uderstand how this works: "Each license allows installation on 3 computers, but Reason Core Security may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them". It's AV Software, surely it must be running to work!!!!

Reason Software Hi,

You are correct, the sentence does not make sense.

You can use the license on 3 different computers simultaneously. It can also be used at exactly the same time.

Sorry for this, we will fix and update this sentence.

Best,

Gde Swart The folks behind this have a good reputation for security software. I downloaded the trial and it looks promising. Here's my impression so far:

System impact is really minimal and it is playing nice with my current anti-virus software.
The interface is very simple and understandable. It gives a system security score, a feature I don't care for since it's not 100% unless you enable all of the features (I don't want Unclicky. It's nice, I just don't want it).
There is a "right-click" context menu entry to quickly scan individual files. Nice.
The first system scan was thorough and reasonably quick. It discovered the questionable software I knew was there and uncovered a couple of .dll files in some temp folders that I was unaware of.
The scan results window allows you to review each discovery with the full file path location and will also open the file location if desired. It also allows for filing a false positive report if needed. Overall, a very well thought out feature set.
It quarantines instead of simply deleting, another nice feature.
The additional tools, Uninstaller and Startup Programs, are very, very thorough and complete. Useful for techies, but maybe a bit much for some users.

A well made, cloud-based, second opinion, security program seems like a smart addition given how fast threats evolve anymore. I decided to spring for the 3 year license (less than $23) it covers 3 computers and based on my trial so far it seems like a good deal.

CJCotter "Nothing gets by Reason Core Security...." That's a tall claim. Are there independent test labs that can vouch for this?

William W. Geertsema The Fine Print states:
"Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 12 months. For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will not be discounted"
May I assume that if I take the 3-year subscription, upgrades will be free for 36 months?

Edward Smith This software can only be used on one computer? So if I have a desktop and two laptops I am going to need three licenses each year?

Reason Software Thanks for your question. Reason Core Security Complete Protection License is for one computer only.

Edward Smith I guess you changed your policy from the three computers license that it used to be, to one computer. Thank you for the clarification.

Gary Smith @Edward Smith,

I noticed that too. I keep track of those things. That has to hurt sales here. Reminds me of what a company did for a Tandem product; now that product is no more.

SoftCollector The idea that my antivirus has "missed" some viruses, which then another product can root out, is very questionable.Antivirus products rarely co-exist peacefully on the same machine.

There are respected monthly/quarterly antivirus and security product tests, which rate them. Buy one of the best performers and forget about "additional layers of protection".

Tim Parsons Interested in this but struggling a little to understand if the blanket assertions with respect to interoperability are (sorry) Reason-able. For instance, while it can work alongside existing AV products, can it actually replace them?

Specifically, the Win10 machine I'm currently using has F-Secure AV and Winpatrol Anti-Ransom installed. Does RCS replace the latter? Does it work alongside both, one, or neither?

Another machine I use has WAR, Defender and Malwarebytes. Same question!

A.O. Sarabia I have the same questions. Why add your product when I already have potent anti-malware and AV stuff on my PC now? Specifically, what does this allow me to replace? Don't need another "me too" redundant AV software.

Ten year license? Kind of laughable, isn't it? What will be in use even three years from now won't even closely resemble what we use now. Even the need for the three-year license is debatable.

The marketing for this doesn't impress me - even a little. Makes me wonder what the product is like.

Ray User Well my Norton Security Premium tells me it catches both Wanna Cry and Petya/NonPetya so who is telling the truth here ? If true (and I have a lot of faith in Symantec as a company who have been around many years) I see no reason for paying for this - can the vendor please explain why I need this when Norton also catches malware - and what malware can this product catch that Norton's won't ?

SoftCollector 'Kill the Malware That Your Antivirus Missed'... hm. Quality antivirus and Internet Security products are not made with the idea to 'miss', so that another vendor can 'supplement' them. The thought is ridiculous.
