Imagine being able to snap your fingers and instantly invoke any file, folder, program, website or even a clipboard item on your computer system! No more navigating through level after level of hierarchical folders, no more hunting for an executable file stashed in some illogically-named directory. Get whatever you want, whenever you want it. Is this some sort of mystical utopian operating system? No, it's yours, with a little help from RecentX!

RecentX can quickly find any file, folder, program, website, clipboard item on your computer, and its intelligent system of giving priority to recently accessed items makes it the fastest file search and retrieval system ever!

You don't even need to configure RecentX -- there's no need to feed it your "favorite" files and folders, just install the app and go about your business. RecentX automatically tracks and lists items which are frequently accessed, created, and modified, enabling it to learn which items are most important to you, and hiding everything else. Need to find something? Just start typing and RecentX will present you with matching items AS YOU TYPE, and will quietly hide itself when you open your selected file, folder, or application! Plus, RecentX can also index files & folders residing inside a folder on your LAN.

RecentX also integrates with Windows file open/save window. Browsing through this window and selecting any file is extremely cumbersome. RecentX makes this very easy. When the file open/save window appears, just go to RecentX window and select the required file/folder. The file open/save window will pick it up automatically.

RecentX remembers everything that you copy to clipboard. It is called the Clipboard History. Now, this is too useful.Just pick the text/image that you had copied an hour back and paste it again anywhere. You can also save frequently used text snippets (like standard email replies) inside the clipboard history itself.

With RecentX, you can even use tags to group multiple items from different folders together! Tags are the quickest way to get to any file, folder, clipetc on your hard drive. However deep it is. However old it is.

So, say goodbye to Favorites lists in your internet browsers. Bid adieu to fumbling through the Windows Start menu. Shout hasta la vista to having to use My Recent Documents. Today, there's a better way, and that better way is RecentX!

These short video tutorials will give you more clarity on how RecentX works.

Gautam Jain -
RecentX doesn't use/modify the Windows file index. It maintains its own index. Thanks :o)

Thank you for your presence and quick reply. I hope other vendors take note!

I am not clear even after reviewing many of your excellent videos: does RecentX index and enable / facilitate retrieval of files (all types?) based on their content as does Windows11 Search (sort of)?

Also, does RecentX index and enable / facilitate retrieval of Outlook365 emails and other elements?

If I turn off the Windows11 search, will all those functions (and more) be available? Which vids would illustrate the functionality I am asking about?

Again, I appreciate your availability.

Thanks @b g.

RecentX doesn't index content. Only the file name. folder names and their locations. It doesn't index emails.

Windows 11 search will index content also. So RecentX doesn't replace it. It complements it.

RecentX will help you quickly locate a file by name/address. Similarly folders, programs, websites and clipboard.

Heidi-Ann Kennedy-Fourkiller I used all their products in the past, but dropped them for a reason I don't recall, but I do know it was never due to customer service or response time.
I did buy a copy this time around to do a quick review of the product.

RecentX: A Productivity Powerhouse for Windows

RecentX is a Windows utility designed to revolutionize how you find and launch files, folders, applications, and even websites. It's intended for anyone who wants to streamline their workflow and save precious time navigating the Windows environment.

Key Features
Lightning-Fast Access: RecentX continuously indexes the items you use most frequently. It boasts a blazing-fast search function allowing you to open your desired items in a matter of seconds.
Tagging: Organize your files and folders intuitively by adding custom tags. This provides another way to find what you need, especially when dealing with a large number of items.
Clipboard History: RecentX stores a history of anything you copy (text and images) for easy retrieval, eliminating the frustration of accidentally overwritten clipboards.
Open/Save Dialog Integration: Speed up file saving or opening by having RecentX automatically remember recently used locations, saving you time navigating directories.

Efficiency Boost: Users consistently report an impressive gain in productivity due to the reduced time spent searching and navigating their files.
Customization: The tagging system offers flexibility in how you organize your most-used items.
Ease of Use: The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, with minimal setup required.
Lightweight: RecentX claims to have a minimal impact on system resources.

Potential Memory Use: Some user reviews mention that RecentX can occasionally consume higher amounts of memory.

Browser Icons. Need to recognize others and remove IE

Needs to be able to clear history, not just hide. Reset seems unfunctional.

Could use the ability to show daily, not just one week as the minimum value.

Cost: RecentX is a paid software, which might be a consideration for some users.

RecentX is a highly valuable tool for those looking to significantly improve their efficiency on Windows. Its core functionality is praised, making it a worthwhile investment for both casual and power users.

OLIN It would be interesting, but there is Everything, the search is also instant and the program is free ...

Robert Crombie I just purchased it.
I was a Senior Analyst in IT for 20 years.
At first I thought it was too minimalistic.
Thus took a little time to work things out.
BUT that proves to be a good thing in the long run, as the simpler it is, and less intrusive it is, the better.
I would like to know where the index file is located, so I can ensure it never gets too big.
I noticed they also sell a Sticky Notes program.
If they offer that program (here) at a reduced price, I would check it out. My fear of messes may be placated if they make that product minimalistic.

Heidi-Ann - Thanks a lot for your positive feedback and review.

Robert - Thanks for your appreciation. Yes, Notezilla sticky notes app also will be here on discount in a week or two. The index file is at %appdata%\Conceptworld\RecentX (copy this path and open in the Windows File Explorer). You can change this location. Just email us at to know how.
