What are people saying about Sketcher

Yaroslav Glushchenko The styles were added over the time, although at the moment we are mostly focused on improving those algos we already have. However, if you some ideas or requests - feel free to share them via the support e-mail, we are always happy to add some user-requested stuff into the apps.

Regarding the undo - nope, and the moment there is no undo. But the editing is non-destructive, you can "play" with the filters and options as long as you wish without affecting source.

Also, I can recommend to visit our website and try the free demo, it's available for both Windows and Mac platforms.

Cheers!

Gray Lox Very nice. Thank you!
An editing tool after my fancy. Fast, small, powerful, easy to handle, with a plain interface.
You can't get lost in long menus. But it may take some time, to decide which of the artistic styles is the best improvement for your photo :)
Would be cool, to have your other programmes too for good old win PCs.

H. H: Just tried the software and possibly I may buy it during the bdj offer time, since it has good capabilities regarding the black/white sketching , has a userfrinedly policy (per user, all owned computer, no hardware footprint) and at the discounted price it is a small investment.
Nevertheless I´d sugggest some improvements: ability to save own presets and improvement of the watercolor filter to my personal opinion (somehow looking a bit mechanical, more like "posterize" or cartoonify" filters in other image editing programs)

People may also try "fotosketcher" http://www.fotosketcher.com (freeware) and another shareware-tool "smart photo editor" http://www.smartphotoeditor.com/ which has been mentioned by another bdj-customer a few weeks ago: (very mighty and impressive tool, discounted at the moment, but unfortunately with a very restrictve user policy (hardwarefootprint, 1 installation per footprint) in comparison.

For people which like - what the names says" turninbg photos in sketchings (especially black-white, grey) "sketcher" seems to have some advantages regarding the fine-tuning

Loco Driver I've downloaded the trial and the product has possibilities. (And, yes, I expected the the image would be watermarked in trial mode.) But when I looked into saving a image file I'd modified, the only option had a file type of .sketcher - so how would I use the image for anything except within sketcher? I expected, at least, a .jpg format or even an option to print.

Yaroslav Glushchenko Loco Driver,
To save into the image format (jpeg, png etc.) you must process the image and use File - Save Image instead of usual File -Save that is intended to be used to save the Document.

Math Mike Just purchased Sketcher. Downloaded from http://neatberry.com/prod.../download/. On download Norton 360 says file not safe. Cites WS.Reputation.1 threat. Refuses to allow download or installation. Please advise

Yaroslav Glushchenko Michael Brue,
It is safe, at least I doubt how can our website be dangerous. Anyway, I'll check why the hell can Norton treat us as a threat...

Jon User Hi Yaroslav,

Thanks for making this discount available. I just purchased a copy because at this price why not, even if I only use it a few times.

I like these effects a lot and I see a lot of use for this in combination with macro photography like flowers and other nature subjects. The program seems to run well but I have a couple of suggestions that would make the workflow a little better. Most of these relate to saving data.

1. Whenever I save anything, either the sketcher control file or an image, the software always defaults to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sketcher\imageformats" however when I look in that directory using windows explorer nothing shows up. Can you please add a settings menu that would allow the user to choose the location where the control files are saved, maybe like my_documents/sketcher. As an alternative, you could always default to the location used in the previous session.

2. When saving image files, they too default to the same "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sketcher\imageformats" directory. It would be good to have another setting that saves to a my_documents location, or possibly an option that would default it to the same directory as the original without having to navigate there each time.

3. For the saved image filename, it would be good to make it create a default name that relates to the original picture name, rather than re-using the sketched.jpg filename every time. For example, if the original picture was called flower1.jpg your output image could be something like flower1_sketched1.jpg and then if I use a different filter and save a 2nd time the name would automatically become flower1_sketched2.jpg.

I think these changes would make your software much better by eliminating these small annoyances that require the user to repeat the same entries for each process.

Thanks
Jon

Loco Driver Yaroslav,

Thank you for your answer. Save Image works fine.

BTW, I second Jon's suggestions. I had opened a jpg file from a folder nested several folders deep. So before I saved the .jpg image I had to search for the folder in order to have the original and Sketcher .jpg files in the same place for comparison.

Other than that, this is a nice little utility, I've just purchased my copy. Thank you for the work you did on it.

Ralph Bressler Tell Norton to ignore the "threat"! This is based on their questionable reputation algorithm which marks files as "bad" if they are not used by a certain number of people.

Yaroslav Glushchenko Thanks everyone for the comments!
I have added some new entries into the TODO list, and I hope our future versions will be more pleasant to use.

Chris Roy Jackson To Michael Brue and all other Norton AV (360, etc.) Users:

Michael, the "threat" you quoted (" WS.Reputation.1 ") is NOT (necessarily) a "REAL" Threat !!!
Norton AV uses a "Cloud" based Reputation part of protection (by default, unless you choose to "opt out" during installation or later in your options).
I chose to use it, but it comes with some inconvenience to go along with its protection.
There IS (however) a simple solution... I'll get to it after the following explanation!!!
Any threat that Norton detects whose name ends with " *.Reputation.* " is part of this program.
The way it works is that any "executable file" an with unusual name is "detected" as a "POSSIBLE Threat" by its reputation until over 50 or 100 or ??? of Nortons Users have reported it as OKAY!!!
This happens frequently in the case of Installer programs that copy a ~~*setup.exe (type) file in the computer's "Temp Directory".
If you have scanned the Installer File after downloading it (My downloader automatically calls a Norton Scan after download is comolete.) and it "came up Clean" (No Threats Detected), you can be 99.9 % certain (in my experience, I've NEVER had a problem!!!) that there is NO Threat in this "Package.

The solutiopn is to do the following (after satisfying yourself that there is no Real Threat):

"Right-Click" on the Norton 360 Icon in the System Tray and select "Disable AntiVirus Auto-Protect" from the menu.
A window will pop up and you need to select for how long to disabe the protection!
Since an installation only btakes a few minutes, I ussuall choose 15 minutes!
Then proceed with your installation!
As soon as Installatrion is complete, you can re-enable AV Protection by "Right-Clicking" on the Norton 360 Icon in the System Tray and select "Enable AntiVirus Auto-Protect" from the menu.
That's it !!! If you forget to re-enable AV protection afterward it will be done FOR you automatically after the 15 minutes has passed!!!

Yaroslav Glushchenko Chris Roy,
Well... Those issues with the PayPro are caused by their wish, you know, to protect the vendor, credit card owners and themselves from the potential problems of fraud purchases. I understand that it might be annoying, to solve the issue - please, contact me via our e-mail support at neatberry.com, I'll give you a hand with this.

Kind Regards,
Yaro
