Source Code Library is a powerful multi-language source code library and clipboard extender. It provides efficient mechanisms for managing your source code and documents, comes standard with thousands of lines of useful code, and helps you to organize your existing source code & projects in a central, secure, and intuitive place.

The clipboard extender allows you to quickly paste frequently used code snippets, to paste collected code back into any windows application, to launch your favorite applications and URLs, and more.

If you work regularly with source code, you owe it to yourself to give Source Code Library a try. You'll wonder how you ever lived without it!

Jan-Christoph Ihrens Argh, I just bought this two days ago. Bad luck... :(

I don't have too much experience with it yet, but it is very feature-rich and flexible and seems to be quite professional. I took a look at quite a bunch of other snippet libraries and tested some of them, but this looks best to me.

Some features I like:

- You can not only add code snippets and descriptions, but also files and URLs, examples, screenshots (a screenshot tool is built in), etc.
- It has a versioning system built in. (!)
- You can define parts of the tree as menus that you can open in your editor by using a hotkey or a shortcut.
- Using shortcuts, you can quickly enter your most-used snippets (via an auto text function).
- Using macros, you can modify the snippets in the moment they are pasted into the editor of choice.
- You can build a tree. Sounds trivial, but several of the well-known snippet library programs don't allow that.
- The tree isn't necessarily ordered alphabetically; you can define your own order.
- You can apply colors and predefined as well as custom icons to the folders and snippet entries.
- There's a search function and a filter function for categories.
- You can define favorites.
- It has a nice GUI.
- It can be installed on a USB stick.

One thing that could be better is the documentation. The most important features are described, but for example I couldn't find out yet how to integrate one of the three or four diff tools I have installed, in order to be able to compare different versions of a snippet. There's a possibility to define a diff tool in the options, but until now I had no luck with my attempts to get this to work. Nevertheless you're able to view the different versions one at a time directly in the program.

The support answered very quickly when I had a little problem with the trial version.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens @Michael Begley: That's another feature I appreciate very much: You can define your own "Lexer", so you can have syntax highlighting even for languages that are not supported out of the box.

Otherwise, all languages can be used with SCL - in the end, it's only text...

Mark De Lorenzo Does it include Powershell syntax highlighting?

A G @Mark: Yes it does. As Jan-Christoph kindly noted, you can indeed create customer syntax highlighters for pretty much any language using our lexer editor (located under Tools -- Editor Options).

Matt Hello,

I believe this company is no longer in business.

I purchased this software in 2012.

I am no longer able to log in to the 'client' area to download the 'full, paid' version.

The 'contact' and 'support' areas of their website aren't working either.

You may want to contact BDJ prior to making a purchase.
