What are people saying about Start Menu 8

Max User More ExpirationWare. No thanks.

I tried this for a year -- then it was trouble to remove, but I found a free version that has expiration date and which works much better.

RichU So far, I like the look and function. So... try it for 12 months, Is that including updates? But not upgrades to a new version? Or do you lose it if you allow auto updates.
Tnx

jack hath How is the different from / better than CLASSIC SHELL?

Joe M I don't know which one is better. It is probably a personal matter. Some may prefer Classic Shell and others prefer Start Menu 8. Try them both and decide for yourself.
The one main difference between the 2 is Classic Shell is not going to updated in the future. I assume that Start Menu 8 will be updated as necessary.

Robert User Malwarebytes also flags the program as a p.u.p. I believe both antimalware programs flag most registry cleaning and windows optimization programs as potentially unwanted programs. That is probably because these programs are a bit invasive. Doesn't mean that the so-called p.u.p. is bad. If you really like the program you can set up your antivirus program to ignore the p.u..p. Notice it does not say that the p.u.p. is malware. I get a bit tired of Malwarebytes telling me what programs not to put on my computer. Do you really think that BitsDuJour which is a respected download site is going to give you malware? I think not.

Robert Hare I see that others are holding the same sentiment as me. I 'get' that most other IOBit software can, does (and should) require periodical 'renewal' at a nominal fee because ASC, Malware Fighter, Driver Booster, Defrag Pro, etc. require staying on top of the latest threats and changes that face us all, but requiring that Start Menu require perpetual 'renewal' of a license to continue using it? Come on ... that's more than a bit over the top. I could see maybe offering this six month trial and then if you like it pay a ONE-TIME nominal fee for a *permanent* (lifetime) license, but not perpetual renewal. For the record, I use 7 IOBit products, all on their fourth and fifth years of renewable licenses, so this isn't an overall slam of the company, just a public shaming of this one particular utility (if it does indeed require 'perpetual' renewals).

BackuPs Why does the website say it costs 9,99 euro and here 3,99 usd ?

"After you purchase Start Menu 8, it may be used for 6 months."

So after 6 months one has to buy it anyway?

John User Sorry, but the Fine Print today makes me not want to even download or try this program:

"After you purchase Start Menu 8 it may be used for 6 months and will not function after that unless you renew your subscription.
Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key."

BTW, this listing doesn't show how much it is to purchase Start Menu 8, but 6 months with no updates? No thank you.
