Robert Crombie I too get frustrated when attempting to download a YouTube video that requests my login (I was using allavsoft).
I actually do not mind logging in, but it never accepts my attempts.

Robert Crombie I have the previous version 1.9
On opening the program today, it offers update.
When I click to accept that offer, all it does it open your main web page describing the product.
There is no explanation as to what to do next to TRY TO UPDATE
Also no hint, as to whether the update is free.

Robert Crombie It is installed on my Win 11 Pro PC.
I fired it up to check if I had it.
It tells me that it needs update to handle some sites that are now difficult to download videos from.
When I click to do the update - ALL IT DOES IT OPEN UP SurFast WEB PAGE, PRESUMABLY WANTING ME TO BUY IT AGAIN.

Prior to your last msg, I was being misled by your about form.
|Upgrade' is showing there, but I interpreted that to mean - There is a later version.
I also interpreted the lack of something like - 'Free version' to mean that it was the paid version.
If you are allowing young programmers (I have dealt with many) to design / ANALYSE -DON'T
Even brilliant programmers can be rs at analysis / design.

Allavsoft downloads from thousands of sites but not all. They don't claim to be able to download from all.

SoftCollector 1. SurFast Video Downloader uses open source code (so they only developed the UI) that other are using two.
2. A process remains open when the software is closed, and eats up your CPU resources.
3. I bought a license but because of the issue no 2 above, I have deinstalled the software.

Debra Keldrauk Obviously they can't try EVERY website. I have been using it for a few days, believe me, it only works on the sites that they have listed. It does not work for any paid sites or subscription sites that I use, period. I will probably uninstall as it seems to bog things down and did not meet my expectations/needs.

1. It is a common and widely accepted practice in software development to incorporate open source components. We put time and effort to make the video download easy by simple copy and paste.

2. This is becuase you did not close the app. Check your system tray when you see there is process of SurFast Video Downloader. Close the app from there and it won't run in the background.

Jim Hilton Normally, I don’t speak negatively about software, but this—this makes me wonder why it even exists.

It’s so clunky and frustrating to use that it’s practically pointless. Even the most basic functions fail, and despite having the correct access, it still refuses to download half the things I need.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing were secretly a password stealer, because I see no other legitimate reason for its existence.

Calling this software less than stellar would be an understatement. It’s a masterclass in how not to design an application—awkward, unreliable, and utterly useless.

Debra Keldrauk Read the fine print folks that are complaining, 30 day return policy. I had to go through the bounce around but they issued me a refund. Honestly after many years I think BDJ has seen its better days and this particular cruddy software is one of the reasons I may quit participating.

David Schwartz Most video downloaders can grab a video on a URL with a .../filename.mp4 in it, but when there's a redirect, they all fail. All I see here is "1000s of other site". Well, yes, there are 1000s of sites that have MP4 files that can be referred to directly, but so what?

I want to DL stuff from Vimeo, Wistia, and Vidalytics, all of which use URLs that are basically redirects. No mention of these anywhere.

Can this DL faster than capturing them via a screen recording tool in real-time?

David Schwartz Ok, that's great. I attend a lot of webinars and they usually post replays. I record them with SnagIt but I'd rather DL them to watch later, usually at a faster speed. A lot of marketing videos don't have any controls on them, so being able to save them locally and watch them with full controls is really handy. Also, some things that I buy have tutorials and they say we can use them for training, but they're in a member's area, which makes them inaccessible to VAs without handing them our login details, and I don't like that. Vimeo is the most popular hosting platform I encounter, so that's the main one I'm interested. Thanks.

Yes, we regularly test our supported sites. However, as you mentioned, some sites do change their protection methods frequently, and we are constantly updating our software to keep up.

Fred User I should have been more specific. SVD won't DL the video. If I paste a URL it fails immediately. The 'video won't play' error when I visit the URL using the application itself. Everything plays fine outside of SVD.

Charlene User Hello Alan, you don't need to sign in to download public and unlisted YouTube videos. For playlists, you can copy and paste the URL to download all at once. Here you can also select the video to download.
If you want to download new videos to the playlist, use the Tracking feature. When a playlist is tracked, SurFast Video Downloader will automatically download the new videos added to the playlist at the scheduled time. If you want to know more, contact us with your questions via support

? Add subtitle tracks to media or burn subtitles directly into videos

The new feature is available for the Mac version. And the Windows version will come in several weeks or 2-3 weeks.

It didn't work for me and now I know why.
I download videos from YouTube so apparently your program doesn't download auto-generated versions of subtitles.
