What are people saying about Track Your Trades

Marvin Adams Really? $150 list price? That website is from the later 90'es, the software itself is at least just as old. This is the worst deal I've seen on BDJ for a while.

Christ Milesis Sir, Track Your Trades' website is approx 3 yrs old and maintained diligently with updated information. We are proud that Track Your Trades software has helped thousands complete their IRS Schedule D tax form. Track your Trades is accurate, it works, and is easy to use. Its retail price of $149.95 ($70.48 on this BitsDuJour daily deal) represents real value to investors and traders who purchase it. Try it and you'll like it.

Christ Milesis Another point is that Track Your Trades price is a one-time charge with free yearly updates. Most tax software products hit you with an annual license renewal fee. Track Your Trades does not. At the current BitsDuJour price of $70.48, you are getting exceptional value for a practical, professional, tax software product. Thousands of satisfied users can attest to its quality.

Gail Boughner I am one of those "satisfied users". I have been a trial user for over a year now and am so happy and surprised for this sale opportunity, since was ready to buy at the full retail price. The thing I am most pleased about TYT is that I have experienced NO BUGS!! It has worked accurately EVERY TIME and SO EASY TO USE, compared to others (which I won't name.) IMO, this product is the BEST!! I am so impressed and my trader friends agree. Anyone who buys this product will be extremely happy, especially since this company goes beyond the call of duty to help clients. I am not that computer savvy, so have appreciated the excellent tech support.

Faisal Humayun This application isn't in my field of interest, but I'd like to agree that one cannot just judge a book by its cover (as @Christ Milesis points out). Nevertheless, it's very typical of niche product developers and engineers in giving an untoward focus to function over form.

Just a bit of moderation in this philosophy would produce a resounding response from the purchasing community. Users are inclined to appreciate the aesthetics of what they interact with, especially when they are excited enough to want to promote it (and might feel awkward and embarrassed about displaying something that they don't feel is very appealing to see).

Ultimately, I'd acknowledge @Marvin Adams blunt feedback less as a derogatory strike and more about the pulse of a user's desire (in wanting from a purchase). Certainly can't fault someone for craving beauty along with brains :-)

Marco Pivetta I donĀ“t live in USA. Does this software works worldwide? Which stock markes?
Jul 3 2011 at 3:04pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Mr. Pivetta, yes the software works worldwide, but produces tax reports based on IRS tax forms, which are American. We have users in Canada and Australia, so perhaps it may work for you. You would probably be best served to try the software first, to see if it fits your needs. Please feel free to contact us if you need assistance.

Marvin Adams Christ, I am not doubting the functionality of your software. I just refuse to even download a software that looks like its producer doesn't care about its outer appearance. Same is true for a website made with Yahoo! SiteBuilder, as it says in your source code. If you cater to pros, be a pro and invest like a pro.

We're talking about a $150 retail software here, not a $15 from a rummage box. You do cater to professionals, acc. to your own statements, not (just) private users.

Christ, with a PhD I believe you realize that software (like anything) is ALWAYS judged by its outer looks (even though many people say otherwise, esp. from the US). Function is most important, but a first impression is what makes visitors buy your software.

Again, I am not judging your software's functionality. But for $150 any serious user can expect this deal to be polished. Especially if it does a good job functionality wise, then it is even more a shame that their developers don't feel the need to brush up their overall appearance.

From my point of view, I feel like I get a product that is not worth its $150 simply by looking at it. The looks just suggests a bad investment. (Again, I am not referring to any functionality, just my first gut reaction.)

Think about it.

Thanks, I believe you've made your point. It's clear that Track Your Trades is not the right software for you.

If you'd like to continue the form vs. function debate, feel free to do so in our forums:

http://www.bitsdujour.com/forums/

I'd like to keep this particular conversation focused on questions and concerns about the functionality of the software.

bob roos Currently we use Q***n to track our trades. It has an automatic link to the brokerage account and has been adequate until recently when it started resetting pink slip stock prices to $0.00 randomly.

I realize that TYT doesn't link into the brokerage acct, but is there support for using a Q***n report to be imported into TYT? That is, after the transactions have been pulled from the brokerage acct is it possible to run a report of the day's activity to a disk file that could be imported into TYT? Given the current general feelings about the way Q***n handles investments, that might be a valuable feature.

BTW, I will take function over form anytime!
Feb 12 2012 at 3:48am Copy Link
0
Christ Milesis Mr. Roos, thank you for your messages. TYT is able to import trades from any brokerage or financial program, as long as the trades are in a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. This is a common standard in the industry, and the vast majority of brokerages/financial institutions supply this file format. Even if a particular one does not, usually the file they do supply can be converted to CSV format. So, if Q***n provides a CSV file of your trades, then Yes those trades can be imported into TYT.

On your other question, pertaining to dividends, please note that TYT is a Capital Gains software product and therefore does not offer dividend performance calculations.

Tony Mackay Does your system allow the tracking of international shares and multiple currencies?
Feb 16 2012 at 3:46pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Concerning international shares, yes, Track Your Trades (TYT) supports foreign ETFs and foreign equities, as long as they are represented by a ticker symbol. Multiple currencies, however, are not supported. All amounts are expressed in USD (United States Dollars). I don't think TYT would serve your requirements. Thanks.

Also, can I use this program to easily track futures trades too?

Lifetime Upgrades Hello and greetings

Just a few questions.

Is this software compatible with Windows 7 and 8?

When was the last update/upgrade?

Does this software import info into tax software like Taxact / H&R block / and others?

Thank you.
Feb 1 2013 at 7:09am Copy Link
0
Christ Milesis Yes, Track Your Trades is compatible with Windows 7 and 8.

The last update was 1/9/2013, in which tax year 2012 was accommodated.

Yes, the software creates export files which can be imported in TaxAct, TurboTax, HR Block At Home, etc.

Thank you for your questions.
Track Your Trades - Feb 1 2013 at 7:47am Copy Link

Christ Milesis Yes, multiple accounts are handled. In fact, that is the of the strong point of Track Your Trades. You create a single, consolidated data file in Track Your Trades, into which you can import or enter trades from one or more brokerage accounts.

Lifetime Upgrades Because this software is used intermittently by some and trades are not performed every day by others, is there a portable version or plans with one?

Are plans being made to secure the software with a password due to critical and sensitive information?

Does the software have a secure way of saving the information by import/export to be retrieved later in case of severe computer failures?

Last question.

Can information be imported through any trading companies by way of resourcing it through logins?

Thank you for your time.
Feb 1 2013 at 1:44pm Copy Link
0
Christ Milesis 1. Track Your Trades is already portable in that it runs on laptops and netbooks. It will also run on Windows tablets with a 10" screen. We have not tested it on tablets with screens smaller than 10".

2. Track Your Trades already has a Password feature that can be turned on via the File menu.

3. Yes, data files, Schedule D, and other files can be secured. Under the Utilities menu, there are tools to create backups, and also to create export files.

4. Trades can be imported using csv files from your brokerage, instead of resourcing through logins.

Norwel Gordon I purchased this program, installed then read the "help" files and discovered this statement:

"..it is important to enter trades in CHRONOLOGICAL order (i.e., the same order in which they were executed by your broker); failure to do so may result in errors.."

Does this mean the program does NOT have the ability to sort it's data file by date?

And I must manually sort all old trades by date before entering or the program will not work correctly?

If so this will be a big problem for my use of Track My Trades.
Jun 20 2019 at 10:12am Copy Link

Christ Milesis Hi Norwel,
The statement was included in the User Manual mainly to caution against the scenario where someone enters a sell trade before any buy trade of the same security. As long as you make an effort to enter or import your trades in chronological order, which is generally how your broker reports them to you, you should be okay.
Hope this helps...
