What are people saying about Undupe

Dilip Varma Welcome to Undupe promotion!

Undupe finds duplicate files based on content , indicates original file and also has a notifier.

I am Dilip, will be glad to interact with you and take any questions you have regarding Undupe

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - May 30 2013 at 2:07am Copy Link

Brian Crane Hi
I write quiz question for the media and wondered: Does UNDUPE find duplicate questions in a WORD document and more preferably in an EXCEL worksheet.

May 30 2013 at 2:28am Copy Link

Dilip Varma Hi Brian,
Undupe finds duplicate files whose entire content is the same.

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - May 30 2013 at 3:56am Copy Link

Brian Crane Yes, I understand that. That's not what I'm asking!
Does UNDUPE find duplicate wordage/questions in a WORD document and more preferably in an EXCEL worksheet as well as duplicate files?

May 30 2013 at 4:13am Copy Link

Dilip Varma Brian, It is not meant to find specific phrases or words that are duplicates in multiple files

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - May 30 2013 at 4:21am Copy Link

Adam Bryan Is it a limitation of the trial that once a search is initiated you cannot stop it mid-search? - as this has occurred to me.

Also this package is only able to search one source location at a time so comparing to directories or multiple directories is not possible.

May 30 2013 at 1:00pm Copy Link

Dilip Varma Hi Adam,
Thanks for your comment.
There is no cancel search in current Undupe version, I have forwarded your suggestion to my tech team.
Undupe is built to find duplicate files within one folder and its sub folders.

Danny Sounds nice! But how thorough or resisting pressure is this Undupe with finding duplicates?

May 31 2013 at 12:09am Copy Link

Dilip Varma Hi Danny.

It does a bit wise comparison so be assured its thorough. It has been extensively tested by our QA team

Dilip

Danny @Dilip Varma,

Okay Dilip, thank you! Also this has only English or multilingual mode? I suspect it is in English only, is that right?

May 31 2013 at 12:35am Copy Link

Dilip Varma It can find duplicate files in multilingual files too. If you mean UI localisation then this version is localised in English only

Chris OK, I purchased this and have checked with the payment processor's site, Avangate, and it has shown that the order and payment have been finished. It has been about 30 minutes since it finished, but I still have no email from vendor or Avangate.

I'm just wondering how long it takes to get my serial and download link and email.

Thanks....

Dilip Varma Hi Chris,

Dennis Reed Does Undupe create a hash code for each file then compare contents to find exact duplicates even though the file names may be different?

Jun 2 2013 at 4:11pm Copy Link

Dilip Varma Hi Dennis,
Undupe does a bit comparison of files to determine duplicates even though the file names may be different

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - Jun 2 2013 at 7:23pm Copy Link

Dennis Reed Hi again,
I tried the 2 day trial of Undupe for a folder tree search and found that several things that prevented Undupe from being useful: 1) In the final results, I could not read the address in the "containing folder" because I could not enlarge/make the display to a full screen size - only the first part and last part of the address was visible with "..." in between (a partial address does me no good), 2) In the final results, I could not copy (to paste) the list of files so I could see the full address and thus decide which duplicate to delete, 3) I could not get it to search for duplicates on any drive other than C - it ought to also search a flash drive, 4) there should be a way to adjust the size of the display, not just minimize it, 5) there should be a way to pause the find-duplicate processing, 6) When paused, the interim results should be identified as such ans should be available for display, 7) There should be a way to stop the process other than Windows Task Manager, 8) because the display could not be made a full screen size, I could not read the address of the folder (in the tree of folders) that was being searched - it would have told me how far along the search was. 9) I could not determine a way to save the "containing folder" list of results in a file, spreadsheet or document. 10) It would also be good it the program would save the results for a later decision on if and how to delete.

As I recall, the first action of the program was to count the files and sub-folders to be searched (in the folder tree) - it would be nice to show the tally of the current file vs the total count (to give the user a sense of how far along the search process has to go). The % meter is okay, but I'd rather have numbers.

Because of these UI things, I walked away from my PC for several hours. When I returned, I found the final results, but I did not see if they are displayed as duplicates as soon as one pair is found (vs waiting until the end to show the final results) - immediately would be a very useful capability.
I'm sure there are many other improvements that are possible, but these are what immediately came to mind.

I hope you will make these enhancements, then get back to me with an updated program to meet my needs. Please let me know when you have it ready.

Robert Allen very poor software limited use,due to only being able to handle a certain numbers of files,
there are better free products available than this,
i wasted my money on this

Jul 23 2013 at 5:53am Copy Link

Dilip Varma Robert, Thats a very general comment. It can handle any number of files but based on user feedback on user convenience we display in sets of 5000 duplicates in one session

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - Jul 23 2013 at 6:14am Copy Link

_*_ I do not understand why a trial cannot download without an individual having to give up their email address. I just wanted to give the software a go before purchasing, but rather not offer up my email to do so.

Will this software search across multiple drives to find duplicates?

Feb 26 2015 at 4:31am Copy Link

Dilip Varma The software searches one hard drive/removable drive at a time

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - Feb 26 2015 at 8:36am Copy Link

Dilip Varma We have modified the trial url so that you may directly download the installer without needing to provide your email address.
Thanks

Noveline Technologies Pvt. Ltd. - Feb 26 2015 at 8:55am Copy Link

_*_ @Dilip Varma, thank you very much for removing the need to give an email to try out the program, it is appreciated.

The reason I ask about multiple drives is I typically run at least 2 internal hard drives. Some builds 2 hard drives and an SSD for the OS.
I also run external drives, as well as USB flash drives.

It would be very beneficial to have this search drives that the user could select in the software to catch duplicates across the various drives.

This one ability would make this a direct purchase as most of my duplicates would reside on different drives from one another.

Thanks

Ronald Jurman Yes, I agree. Most of my duplicates are across drives (backups, etc.). Not much value for me in only identifying duplicates on a single drive.
