Anes Hadzic We have created our YouTube channel with user manual and our latest compositions. You will always be able to see our top 5 to 10 compositions, which are generated using our Fullharmony version without any additional changes.

Alexander Deliyannis Can the program connect or export to other music software. i.e. sequencers, synths etc.?

Anes Hadzic The Fullharmony version will save 15-tracks midi file (3-tracks for Midium version). This midi file you can import and edit using other music applications. Please feel free to download some midi files from our YouTube channel and try yourself!

Here is list of midi sequencers:

LU Hello Anes.

When was the last time this product was updated and when do you expect another update for this software?

Is this software compatible with both Windows 8 32 and 64 bit?

Thank you

Anes Hadzic This is build Apr 8 2009. Next version is in "coding" phase. Internal testing will start in May and we will send "release candidate" version to some of our users in June. We expect "public phase" in Q3, and all users will receive new version free of charge.

Yes, this software is compatible with Win 8 32/64bit OS. There is free version (KEY) you can download and try it.

Rick Edwards I think I could use this tool but would want to eventually print the music to either make changes or add a voice & words track. Is there a way to get the score extracted (other than perhaps using audioscore on the midi output)?

Alexander Deliyannis Is the installation file for free version (KEY) the same as for the others, i.e. the FullHarmony features are unleashed with the serial code? I would prefer to not have to uninstall the free version to install the full.

Anes Hadzic @Rick: In this moment, you can't edit result (midi) file with Virtual Music Composer. Our users are using other applications to do changes: change BPM, edit notes, print music, ...

@Alexander: Every version has different application - there is no "secret code" for version change.

Fullharmony version is Key version + 15-track midi export
Midium version is Key version + 3-track midi export

There is no reason to have KEY and Fullharmony version on the same computer.

S B I have found Virtual Music Composer to be frustrating.

VMC apparently doesn't have multiple instruments, so everything is played by a piano.

Yes, VMC generates music, but to my ear, most of it sounds similar--aimless and noisy (see the help excerpt below for explanation).

There are four music settings and a composition length setting. There is a "Key Signature" and a musical "Scales" setting, both of which are labeled meaningfully (I think). There is also a "Motif Mode" and a "Phrase Mode", each designated "A" through "L", but with no explanation.

Because the music is "composed" randomly each time, there's no easy to tell what the Phrase and Motif do.

Motif and Phrase are selected with "right/left" arrows (this usually indicates a relationship between successive settings. I haven't been able to tell, nor have I been able to characterize any possible differences in any of the settings I've tried).

There's little or no information about what's going on.

The idea of a machine music composer is exciting, but I have found VMC limited (only piano, inability to recreate music from given settings, a time-consuming set-compose-listen-select cycle), antiquated (user interface is too busy for what it does, low-contrast text, questionable controls), and frustrating, for me, very frustrating.

The main idea is captured in VMC's English help:
"What to take into consideration when the first impression is that the majority of all songs are similar? This is unavoidable due to the nature of the music..." "it takes time to get phrases that you would like to use: only a couple of them are worth looking at. This is about making a choice, according to musical taste..."

I'm not hopeful about VMC (I haven't seen anything suggesting that the developers are actively developing its composition mechanisms and there is not a stated future for the product), however I will take a chance with the lowest-level license because I may be able to use the limited 3-track midi files. (any suggestions for a compatible midi editor?)

Anes Hadzic Your opinion is very welcome, and we are offering 30 day money back guarantee.

If you are looking for small and nice midi editor, Anvil Studio is good product and it's freeware. (Standard disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Anvil Studio)
