Gary User How do I get a refund? It is horribly slow to load, and can't be registered because of some problem at your server (it gives an "unstable" message). Also, I don't need an interface with a zillion other program tabs when all I want and bought was one. poorly designed, and I'm guessing based on the Commodore 64 loading speed very poorly coded.

Our software design is very good, especially the interface design, and we are confident that we will not lose out when compared to any of today's most advanced Microsoft, Adobe, and Apple software.

You can refund in many ways, but you didn't choose any one, but yelled directly on our sales page - refund. According to your comment, I can see you have some understanding of software technology. So Can I imitate you "I'm guessing...", to guess you're employed by our competitors, you are the people who make money by pitting others.

Cary Adams O WOW... a developer that attacks their customers. How wonderful is that? With that attitude, it's no wonder free world users don't come near Norman.

And yes, there are a zillion unwanted tabs on a WinXP-like interface, with the developer hoping to push many more apps upon the unwilling buyer by foisting unnecessary tabs on the user.

Calling "Gary User" a competitor is laughable, I'm confident that Microsoft, Adobe, and Apple have lost zero sales to Norman.

And finally... a caution to folks that use Google Meet with people they don't know. Only do so with a virtual connection on a VPN.

Free Ride The Import Purchase button and Download License File button seems to have been removed from the account page. It was much easier this way to redeem a purchase without installing anything.

Now you have to download and install the whole studio and do it from there, which is a loooooooong procedure. I liked it better how it was before.

Free Ride @Norman Wong well, i'm a software collector (these people really do exist), so what i wrote makes perfect sense, i don't have to use a software in order to activate it without hassle and save it for later use. What i mean by this, i usually activate programs and just forget about them but the activation is still active. I'm not using hundreds of different programs at the same time installed on the same computer, that would be insane. You had a good approach for activating a license easily but you choosed to get the installation of your studio packet in the way, which i dislike (the merging of all products into one).

While some of the Sanwhole software may look promising, their business approach and, at times, their communication, rubs many the wrong way. I can understand the language challenges, but fail to understand the Sanwhole business model and its many required hoops to install and register their products.

Chuck @Norman I have followed your software here and downloaded a trial before from your website, which was not as straightforward as other sites. The wesite is, in my opinion, in need of modernization and streamlining.

Once done, I took a look at the registration process. The process proved convoluted and frustrating to me, especially compared with other software, so I moved on.

In addition, I pay very close attention to how developers respond to current and potential customers here. Every time a product is offered, regardless of whether I'm intrested or not, I follow the conversation. In your case, you appear needlessly combative at times. This may be due to a language barrier or cultural difference; I don't know. Nonetheless, you sometimes rub customers the wrong way in your responses. Other users here continue to voice similar concerns; even in this current conversation.

A little customer service goes a long way. And if customers continue to raise concerns with your registration approach, maybe a change in approach is worth consideration. No doubt you have lost more than a few customers, myself included, because of your approach.

As a long time bitsdujour user and supporter who has purchased literally dozens of programs here, I want to support developers with useful products, including you. Yet I will not support a product with a convoluted registration process or an abrasive developer. And I will continue to voice that same concern here in support of other users.

I hope you take this into consideration and make adjustments that attract and retain more customers. Until then, I will continue to monitor.

Obviously you missed what @Chuck tried to tell you. I kept monitoring this thread to see if it was just me having a problem with the way you treat potential customers, but I can see you take a rude approach to many others as well.

As @Chuck said, it could be a language barrier, but it does not excuse defending your argument at the expense of the customer. Hopefully you will learn something from this and have more respect for your customers going forward

2. I attempted to register previously, got lost, and gave up on your software.

3. Your abrasive style is evident right here in this conversation, as other prospective customers can see and have acknowledged.

4. I am not a professional writer, but thanks for the comment. My profession has zero to do with software or professional writing. Of the 12 comments I have made on your products, three were suggestions, with one indicating I would PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCT if the changes were made. In another, I asked a clarifying question about licensing. How is that negative?

Perhaps you should compare the 91 other comments I have made on other product conversations to my purchase history (see #5). You might notice a pattern of (a) asking clarifying questions about the product, and/or (b) providing my perspective as a product owner.

5. I became a BitsDuJour member June 3, 2011 and have made 84 purchases here over the last decade. No doubt @Constantin Floria, the site administrator, can validate my customer credentials. Here's a screenshot of my purchase history:

6. You're right, I do not have your data history. Your acceptance of "1." and "2." is enough to show that your comments are too hasty. Whether you are a professional commentator or not, you should at least install, run, even register and activate it yourself when you make comments. This is the most basic respect for your readers.

3. Look at your comments today. If you say "abrasive style" it's you first, I'm just defending myself. Don't you allow it?

4, As you say "three were suggestions, one asked a clarifying question", don't you have 8 left? Can 8 / 12 negative comments change the nature of your negative comments?

5, Now that you have shown the purchase record, I and others will agree that you are telling the truth about the purchase.

6, So you admit that you guessed. If you are guessing, why don't you look at other people's comments, just look at the one above you. He seems to be saying “Awesome! Thanks for the quick support.”.

Both users and potential users are the most important to us. If you want to become our potential user, I hope you will post real, pro-test comments in the future. Whether it is criticism or praise, we always welcome it very much.

Loyal Customer Very confusing. Where is the download link???

The Briefcase case page (a lonnnnnnng page with videos and extensive PR) doesn't seem to have a simple link to download the software.
The only download link I could see is for the Sanwhole Studio.

For crying out loud, simplify the download process.
All we need is simple download links (64 and 32, in case anyone on earth is still using 32 edition anyway).

RichU Loyal, I feel your pain... lol If it is like their other products, you need to install Sanwhole Studio, which includes briefcase, and then activate with the code you are given. If you already have Studio installed, and it is up-to-date, I think you just enter the code.

RichU I don't think they are intentionally misleading, but I do think there is some language difficulty. IMHO, their instructions could definitely be clearer, to include 1. procedure for first-time users (including an explanation of the model. ie: Sanwhole Studio is required before any sub-programs can be activated.)
2. a separate procedure for users who have already installed Sanwhole Studio, including instructions to update the Studio if it is out-of-date. On my PC, I had to uninstall Studio before updating to the latest version.

jckinswo Julia & others;,take a look at the detailed but workable instructions below. In your case Julia, you got to the right "Redeem" page on Studio but saw the email and password parts which are only for paid versions. You need to copy the code from your Bits receipt email and paste it into the top box. The email and password part then gray out and you click on Redeem and go from there as described below.

As Norman Wong from Sanwhole states you don't need to register, etc. There are a number of assumptions that he and the instructions make starting with the instructions are all the way at the bottom of that page. The page has some useful ideas for using Briefcase but many/most wouldn't expect to have to go all the (long) way down to the bottom to find them. They're also too brief so...
Here's added detail that might be helpful for some:

1. Download and install Studio (if you haven't already). There are download links (green buttons) for 64 or 32 bit near the top of Norman's linked page to Briefcase (here's the same link: https://sanwhole.com/Prod...eBriefcase . Depending on your browser security settings, you may get some warnings. Bypass them and follow the installation instructions.

2. Open Studio and click on the first icon in the upper left corner which the instructions describe as the (large) round "Application" button (which has the infinity symbol inside it) and then select Redeem Purchase Code. Ignore the email and password and just paste the code (copy from the receipt email from Bits) in the top box (the rest will then gray out) and click on Redeem.

3. Click on the confirmation which follows and then click on "Briefcase" in the row of product links.

4. Shazam! Briefcase starts up.

5. Be patient and tolerant with translation oddities. English sucks for most non-native speakers and instructions are the pits in many cases in any language.

6. Bits runs a fair number of deeply discounted or giveaway options on other modules plus there's a few freewares at the site that could be worth checking out. I've yet to have the time to check them out. Your mileage may vary...

Oh and no, Loyal, there’s nothing nefarious in needing to download Studio. It’s just a shell for their modules that gives each person the flexibility to add what you want when you want and have them in one place rather than a bunch of separate packages. It’s just a shell for the modules that gives each person the flexibility to add what you want when you want and have them in one place rather than have a bunch of separate programs. I imagine some link and work with others as well which you'd lose if they're not together. BTW I have no connection to Sanwhole, I’ve just spent a fair amount of time finding my around and figuring some of it out and just thought I’d share and save others some frustration.

The relevant content of the software includes introduction, purchase, help, download, forum, promotion, activation, agreement, and so on. They cannot be merged into one page unless there is only one software. This is also the reason why activating instructions content is necessary.

Ten seconds is definitely not enough. It takes 10 seconds to download a 400M file even on a gigabit network. It still needs to be installed and activated. If starting from the BDJ website purchase and using 1/2 hour to activate successfully is still quite fast, I think new users may not be able to do so.
