What are people saying about WebCrusher

Bill Kruse What about sites generated by Joomla and others like it? Will they work with this software too?

Rich OBrien Can WebCrusher be used to compress WordPress web pages? Is WebCrusher compatible with WebEasy? Serif WebPlus? WYSIWYG Web Builder? XSite Pro?

Nico Westerdale @Rich, It appears it does work with WordPress from looking at their site. I cant say for sure it works with Joomla as it's not mentioned, but I don't see why it wouldn't

Paul Levine Thank you for interest in WebCrusher. We haven't fully tested WebCrusher on content management systems like WordPress and Joomla because of the constant updates and changes so we don't officially support it.

WebCrusher will work with any web building software including WYSIWYG web building apps. Rich, I am not familiar with all the web building applications you have listed but WebCrusher was designed to work with any type of website.

Steve Wright I requested this one originally, so I'm looking forward to it going on sale. Excellent looking app.

If people are concerned by the way that it minifies the code, then keep a copy for editing on your system, minify it and upload, but keep the original for editing purposes. That what I'm going to be doing!

ron williams This program looks interesting. I downloaded a trial copy and used a site i recently built. It did reduce the site somewhat but unfortunately i was not able to export the minimized site to test and preview. My concerns are that everything still works on my site after i've ran it thru webcrusher and it works as intended. Any way of offering a single export to actually see & test the results?

Steve Wright What Ron's saying is a good idea, however I can also understand the concern that people would use it for their own site and then never pay for it. However, it's also good to verify that it does work with no problems.

Does the software, effectively, just batch minify the code? Because if so, that would answer the question of it working.

Also, I've been wondering, how does it compress images? I notice very slight pixellation on some images when they've been run through WebCrusher. Only slight.

Paul Levine @Steve and @ron WebCrusher only works on a backup of your site. Your original files are never touched.

If you click the little magnify icon next to a page you can compare the before and after to see if there are any changes to your website.

If you optimize your site and see that there are some issues, just let us know and we will fix it ASAP. The goal is to have the websites look the exact same but just be smaller and load faster. We also provide a 30 day money back guarantee.

If you look in your documents folder you will see a RAGE WebCrusher folder. You can preview your optimized site in there. But don't upload that to your site, the demo version will flip certain characters around in your website copy.

You can adjust the image compression in the Preferences. PNG files should look the exact same where as JPEG images will have their quality reduced (you can set how much in the preferences).

Hope this answers all of your questions!

George Widman WebCrusher sounds great, but my site is simply a "portfolio" site, and loss of image quality is a major concern.
Site was just re-created in iWeb.
- Can the JPEG compression be set to zero? Images on my site are already compressed as much as I'd like them to be.
- I have a number of Vimeo embeds, which work great. Will they be left untouched?
Thanks!

Steve Wright George, I can field this one.

In preferences, you can choose to turn off JPEG changes altogether, up the quality or lower it to however you wish. You can also turn off PNG optimization as well as choose whether or not to convert PNG files without blank areas to JPEGs (a nice touch).

Re: Vimeo, not sure, but all WebCrusher seems to do is tidy up code, remove white space and unused tags etc. so considering your code is right in the first place, then WebCrusher shouldn't hurt it.

Brian H Hi Paul- WebCrusher looks great! Question- can I use WebCrusher features to compress JPEGs for personal, "non website", use? Also, I saw 2 other great programs on your company website that I am very interested in- "ButtonDesign" and "MapDesign". Would you be willing to offer similar discounts in these 2 programs today to compliment the WebCrusher deal? Thanks.

Paul Levine @Brian: Yes you can use WebCrusher for compressing JPEG and PNG files that are not for a website. It works great for that too.

Send us an email with what you want and we can see what we can do.

George Widman Follow-up to earlier question, "- Can the JPEG compression be set to zero? Images on my site are already compressed as much as I'd like them to be."
So I bought WebCrusher, and to my amazement, it's better than I thought it could be!
The JPEG default was 70%. Tried it, didn't look too bad, but I hedged it up to 80%, and the results are great, with a major size cut.
Tried the site on Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari, and load speed is far better than before.
Thanks for making software that lives up to - or is better than - being as advertized!
